Binary Code

Rate this book
Binary: Relating to, composed of, or involving two things.
Code: A system of words, letters, figures or symbols used to represent others, especially for the purposes of secrecy.

Everything comes in twos. His and hers. Mine and yours. Love and hate. Life and death. The world is made up of pairs.
So what happens when the line is blurred, when the rules we use to define our lives become…skewed?
What happens when the rules are broken? His and hers becomes his, hers and…theirs. Mine and yours becomes mine, yours and ours. Love and hate become love, hate and conflict. Life and death become a battle, an infinite number of risks swinging on a pendulum.

Carter cracked my code. He dug deep into the genetics of who I was and he rewrote every moment of my life. He forced his way in, reshaping every thought in my head, manipulating every instinct that kept me alive.
Yet, in doing so he altered the structure of his own code and broke every single rule he lived by. He was the encryption I couldn’t decipher, and I was the mystery that finally forced him to reveal exactly who he was.

This book contains adult themes, including M/F/M.

Genre: Dark Erotic Thriller
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

On paper, Harley Davids was an art loving gallery owner. But behind the facade, she was a computer expert working in a small team catering to their clients' every whim. She also had a personal quest in facing her dark past and she would need any help she could get.

Carter was an elusive owner of a popular nightclub. He had his own personal mission to complete, but as Harley caught his sight, he had the urge to crack her shell without realizing by doing that, he was exposing his own core.

I have read several of DH Sidebottom's books, but this is my first look at Rebecca Sherwin's. I am glad to have found another author in my favorite genre.

She’d cracked my code; whatever the fuck she’d done to me, she’d won.

Carter was a very interesting character. He exuded a certain aura that made me drawn to him. He was commanding, yet showed a softer side when needed.

What else was there? What else could I do to fix this festering hole in my soul that just kept widening and widening with every day I made it through?

Harley had been hurt in the past and she was still nursing the scar. She might seem strong but inside she was very fragile.

The best thing about the book is the revelation gave me a whiplash. It was brilliantly done and I didn't see it coming. The sexy times were also smoking hot especially when it came to angry, hate fucking lol!

I like the how techy thriller/suspense elements in the story paired with the human elements in term of the working relationship between the characters.

"I’m breaking all my rules for you, and I don’t regret a single deviation.”

But when it came to the romance part, it felt off. I wasn't convinced of it since it was not properly flashed out before the declaration was made. I would have rather it not be a factor in the story or at least downplay the declaration a little for a better balance.

Binary Code is a story of a couple shoved into a conflicting situation and how they make it work. It's a thrilling ride into the world of high tech and high power.

5 Twisted as Fuck Stars!

I knew this book would be dark, but I didn't know they were going to take my brains out and play with them. My mind feels violated, exposed, smashed to smithereens. A cerebral rapery. I'm thinking S & S shouldn't be able to write together, I'm thinking they should pound out a bookshelf's worth, I'm thinking I loved every fucking bit of their chemistry, and can't help but feel a bit of Stockholm Syndrome. I LOVE YOU, you've captured my mind. My heart only beats for you. You've cracked my twisted code. Okay, I better get on with the book.

Hailey meets Carter in her Art Gallery. A foul mouthed alpha that makes her re-think her abstinence. Oh, but Hailey has another life beyond art... Dangerous. Dark. Deadly. And Carter has peeked in. Will he expose her in every way?

"He was compelling and deterring all at once. I wanted to step back, turn around and run away, and yet I wanted to step closer."

Carter. Yeah, motherfucking Carter. He's deadly for panties everywhere. He's my favorite nightmare and all my twisted dreams combined. He has a job, yet he meets Hailey and all things become complicated. Killer or protector.

"I didn’t kill for sport. I didn’t even kill for a living. I killed because I had an insatiable desire to do it, and that was reason enough for me."

PHEW! WOAH! Let me take a breath. I read this book two times. TWO TIMES! I don't re-read, okay. I was heart broken, in love. I loved every trip I took in this book and turned right around and revisited the game. I wanted to hold each character in my palm and dissect them. The writing was phenomenal. I didn't know who wrote what. Co-authoring at its finest. They kidnapped me, took me hostage, and made me soak every one of their words up. I couldn't let go. I can't let go. I'm too far into the code.

“So you see, I win because I gave you love. And love is the only weapon that can truly ruin us.”

I RECOMMEND TO LOVERS OF DARK ROMANCE AND MIND-Fuckery. For real, they did a number on me. My heart and mind was completely shattered then put back together with pieces of my soul lost.

description

Harley Davids operates under the guise of a respectable and successful gallery owner, but she is also a member of a clever hacking group with her closest friends. However, Harley’s life changed when she became payment for an owed debt. This brutal experience transformed Harley into someone fueled by vengeance and ruled by her demons. With the timing right, she commences her plan of revenge, but Harley doesn’t expect the layers of trickery and avarice she is about to encounter.

“I shouldn’t trust, but I trust you. Tell me I’m not making a mistake.”

Carter is a mysterious nightclub owner with his own hidden skeletons. After meeting Harley on his terms, he is drawn to her. While he is the type of guy who promises only one night to women, staying away from Harley becomes difficult as he is intrigued by her motivations and secrets.

“She wasn’t going to let me in, I was going to break in.”

As Carter continues to delve into Harley’s life, they become tangled in a destructive web of greed and secrets that reveal twisted relationships and intricate systems of deceit. Notwithstanding the dangers surrounding them, the attraction between Carter and Harley is palpable leaving no doubt Carter is absolutely sexy and very capable of putting Harley’s vulnerabilities to rest.

“His thrusts were hard and painful but so fucking good. His talk was filthy and degrading but such a turn on. His hunger was as potent as mine and I fell into the cocoon of pleasure he was forcing on me.”

From the beginning, the plot sets an ominous tone that is underscored by a thrilling pace that provokes the reader to solve the puzzle of duality and coded meanings. There were a few times when I felt like I was trying to piece together several puzzles in one because the direction was so good and twisty. I must say, that I did not foresee one of the twists at all and I loved it! At that particular reveal, it made sense and it added so much dimension and impact to the plot dimension.

Binary Code offers an erotic thriller with intriguing and dynamic characters that will keep you turning each page until you get all the answers!

Fantastic plot!!! Great execution!
These two authors have teamed up and they deliver a story full of mystery, secrets and passion!!!
Harley is no ordinary woman. Toughened by life, she is an expert in computers and she has one mission; find the men who hurt her and make them pay.
Carter is the best in his field; he is a hit man with a very difficult current mission. He is the one that must snuff out Harley's life but he finds himself at an impasse. Harley is unlike any woman he has ever met. There is attraction, there is lust but there are also secrets and secret agendas.
Harley's life will become intricately entwined with Carter's but do they really know each other?
The book is excellently written and fast paced. The two authors did and amazing job with their plot and the writing flows seamlessly. The multiple point of view works great with this book and I simply loved the transition between characters.
If you want something unique, refreshing and clever, then this book is for you. One of the best reads of the summer.
I highly recommend it.

I wasn't actually going to start to read this book when I did, I just wanted to read the prologue to see what kinda book it was gonna be. Well , I went past the prologue and straight to the end of the book in about 2.5 hours. It was fantastic. These two authors together have more then nailed it. It was just excellent. No other words can describe how I found this book.

I adored Carter and even though initially Harley annoyed me, I grew to love her. The storyline centres around these two characters, with others of course but these are the main plus, as the title suggests, binary codes. With love, blood, destruction it was a very intense book and every chapter left me wanting more, needing more. I asked myself more than once what I would do in their situation.

I can only hope, the two authors decide on a second book as I would like their story to continue, I need their story to continue.

Liked:
This story is mostly well-paced and opens with a bang.
Harley (female lead) is mostly likable and the antihero (Carter) is somewhat appealing.
Text messages exchanged between Caesar044 and Ariel15 built the intrigue level at the start of the story and were quite amusing.
The tech terminology central to the plot was light and the intimacy scenes were super hot!

Not so much
The ending felt rushed, the dialogue became too lovey-dovey, Michael and Charlotte's fate seemed anticlimactic.
The references to Harley Quinn didn't add much to the story.
Harley is fragile and weak, spends the entire story needing to be rescued by all of the men in her life.
Carter was an assassin, and while that was very entertaining, it wasn't believable.
Harley's frequent need to vomit was highly distracting. Everything seemed to stimulate her need to produce copious amounts of bile.

The major plot twist at 72% left me with this expression...

Oh wow. What an amazing story this is. I can't even begin to describe the feelings I got while reading this. My stomach was in knots and my head was in a spin.

These are two brilliant authors but when they got together and wrote this they wrote an amazingly dark and twisted well written story. They played with my brain cells. They messed with my head. They took my heart out and threw it about. I can't believe I actually cried while reading this. So many feels that I didn't expect while reading this.

Don't try guessing who wrote what- you won't succeed. These two authors are as warped as each other. If I didn't stalk them already I'd certainly be stalking them now.

As you can see I'm not writing about the storyline. The blurb gives enough of a teaser and I'm reluctant to spill any more. If you like dark and twisted reads then seriously you need to grab this book. It's an amazing read that you will not forget.

I'm off now to do something I've never done before. I'm going to re read this straight away before reading anything else. Yes it really is that good.

With Rebecca Sherwin and D.H. Sidebottom teaming up, you know you are in for a ride! This book was pretty much a one click for me just from the authors involved in it. Didn't need to read what it was about just knew with these two, there would surely be some twist and turns in the story.
Harley and Carter were the perfect victims for Sherwin & Sidebottom!! Good story with surprises all around.

It’s raw…..

It’s dirty…..

It’s abrasive…..

It’s jaw-dropping….

and…… It’s heartbreaking.

"The people who could harm us the most were the ones we allowed to get too close. The people who condemned us to misery and loneliness were the ones who promised us happiness and gave us hope."

The collaboration between these two talented authors have given us the result of a literary treasure. The book is flawless and seamlessly written, you are incapable to determine which author wrote what piece. The characters are fascinating with a depth that draws you in and binds you to them. The story is riveting and has a mind-blowing WTF moment that it took me a minute to realize what was it that I actually read, and had me thinking back to all those moments in the book associated with this exposition. This story is so powerful and intriguing that it would be wondrous to see more of these characters.

No spoilers, read the blurb and enter into the brilliance of these two artistic authors.

When I heard about this book, I was intrigued and almost terrified it would give me nightmares but this book was amazing. I'm not a stranger to Rebecca Sherwin's work and I know how her mind can be a little... okay, a lot, twisted but I am a stranger to D H Sidebottom, so I didn't really know what to expect.

This story is gory, gritty, hardcore and confusing as hell. The characters were well thought out and played their parts well. I loved the mega twist that had me shouting 'what the fuck?'. I loved how it played out though for a brief part of the book, held my pet hate in books. I can't say without revealing the twist.

I'm gutted we don't get to see an insight into the future, especially with that ending! The story made me cringe in parts with the gore but I was glad I was surprised and I didn't guess anything. I love myself a psychological thriller and this definitely has elements of that genre.

An amazing read but I warn readers, it's not for the faint hearted or people with weak stomachs. Read this with an open mind and you'll be as hooked to the story as I was.

I knew I should have felt degraded, and I did.
I knew I should have felt used, and I did.
I knew I should have felt out of control, dominated, and I did.
But I fucking loved it.

I love reading the blurb after reading the book because I like to go in without preconceptions. Most of the times this works for me, but this time I wished I had read it, I still didn’t, but I wished I had. This works for me most of the time because it literally means I am venturing into the unknown and only by continuing with the story will my curiosity be satisfied. It is only with books that are really bad where I get forced to visit the blurb mid-reading and most of the time these books end up in my DNF shelf. I am glad this was not one of those instances.

Even though I was confused and frustrated for the better part of the book because it took me forever to follow why things were happening the way they were. But even with my confusion, the story wasn’t boring, it was capturing and intriguing. I wanted to know where it was leading, and my impatience made me frustrated. After finishing the story and reading the blurb, I realised that it was good that I did not go back to check it, even though I wanted to, because it would not have helped me, instead it would have frustrated me more.

Without giving anything away, this is a story of vengeance, treachery, betrayals, retribution and a whole lot of angry people, each looking for pay back and sometimes against people that don’t even know what wrongs they have committed or that they are being targeted for revenge. It is also a story of misused love and villains knowing that atrocious acts hurt more when perpetrated by the loved ones.

After I got over my confusion and the floundering, I did enjoy the book and appreciated the way it is written. The confusion and the hidden parts were not only for the suspense effect but part of the story and I appreciate how the author managed to keep it interesting without revealing the big secret, which I didn’t see coming, but I almost always never see this things coming.

While it is not as dark as some, it does have some triggers that some would rather avoid, like rape, death, drug abuse and violence.

Binary code By Rebecca Sherwin & D.H Sidebottom
When I saw that these two fantastic authors were collaborating I have done nothing but stalk and stalk until finally the blogger sign ups arrived. I have read books by both authors and really didn’t know how this was going to go…. I really honestly didn’t expect the absolute mind F%^K that I got…

The characters are fantastic and I loved the detailed descriptions and history we were given for each character. They were all so different and yet I knew each of them. The surroundings and graphic content are a delight for any ‘darker’ reader and I honestly recommend it to everyone.
My head is so messed up after reading this book and I promise you, you will not see it coming. You cannot even begin to imagine the twists that are in this book so just enjoy the complete and utter fabulous ride that these authors have not only delivered to you but they have completely owned it!!!
The only bad part about this book… It ended…. That is all
This is a standalone but be warned there are triggers and graphic details that some may find offence. If however, you are like me, and can’t read anything dark enough then I promise you this book will scratch and itch!
I really hope to see these authors working together again in the future!
I rate this story an absolute 5 solid gold stars!!!

As a massive fan of DH Sidebottom I knew if she was attached to this it was going to be gripping I've never read anything by Rebecca before but that's definitely going to change.....
Binary Code had it all it definitely is the sort of read once you start you won't want to stop till you see the words 'The End'
Binary Code will have you holding onto your E-reader so tight you think it's going to break Binary Code WILL have you on the edge of your seat... Binary Code will 100% have you so sucked in that 'real' life actually stops for a time...
One of the things I totally 100% loved about Binary Code is ... It's written by two authors one I've read one I haven't but I couldn't tell where one Author finished and the other author starts to me that just shows you what a fantastic talent both authors have to be able to do this especially when you've read everything by one you'd think you'd be able to tell who's written what bit ...
Well what more can I say ......
Holy Macaroni what a epic of a read absolutely mind blowing with some twist I certainly didn't see coming....
Ladies absolutely 100% epically brilliant .... 5 stars ....

I've got to start my review by saying that I absolutely love DH Sidebottom's work. She's one of my favourite authors. However, I haven't read any of Rebecca Sherwin's previous work so when I heard about this collaboration, I was both intrigued and apprehensive - after all, some collaborations work better than others.

My trepidation was wholly unwarranted - this book is brilliant! The first page grabbed me instantly and I just had to devour this story.

I'm not going to tell you too much about the tale itself, as there's just so much that happens and it would be so easy to ruin.

What I will tell you, is that it's beautifully written. It's dark, twisted, soul shattering and utterly compelling.

The characters are more than just superficial, there's a depth to them that rarely crops up. You'll feel their pain and sorrow and share their joy.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough and I'm ecstatic to see that these two authors are working together on another book.

"WARNING"

This Book contains trigger scenes for some.

"Please hold on to your heart, and hide your breath in your lungs.
You're about to be mind-fucked."

Raises hand.......YES PLEASE!!!!!

Ohhh myy goooodness, this book is a dark, twisted, mysterious kind of ride.

When I seen the teasers going around on Facebook, I was like, ohhh yeahhh I knew I had to one click this baby! D.H. Sidebottom is always one of those authors I love to one click her books, her books never disappoint! Now of course after reading this book, I'm like I need to check out this Rebecca Sherwin's books as well because these two writing this book together was seamless and this book was very bad ass!!! I just loved it!! I couldn't tell when one stopped and the other started.

I will have to say as I am writing this review, I am trying to decide on what to say that is not a spoiler. Yes, its one of those kind of twisty books that really needs to be read going in blind. Or that's what I think about it. lol Annddd, now that I am finished with the book, I went back and read the synopsis and its dark and twisty and like a puzzle for you to decide what this book is about. See my conundrum, lol even the authors didn't write out a black and white synopsis so it would keep the reader in the dark and make you want to read this book and figure it out yourself..lol Buttt, I will tell you it was such a bad ass ride to take and even after your done, your still thinking about the book and saying damn....this book was bad ass!!! (I know I said this a few times in this review...but really..it was!! lol)

I gave this book 5 iScream Book Stars-Binary Code will keep you turning those pages and not wanting to put the book down!! : )

Binary code by Rebecca Sherwin And D H Sidebottom.
5 Stars*****

Wow, what a fantastic story.
This book took you to the edge and then back again. Rebecca and Dawn, together write with perfection. There is no real break in the story line and it is seamless.
At times I hated Carter for his actions and I thought he could never be redeemed, as for Harley, she had suffered a fate most would never be able to come back from.

Carter and Harley, their characters are well developed and so freaking believable. You would not believe that this story is has been written by two Authors.
I am usually able to figure out were a story is going, and although I had a few questions while reading Binary Code, the penny still didn't drop for me, and I was so surprised when I hit the climax of the story.
Binary Code is going to toy with your emotions. It will make you want to cry, throw your kindle to the wall but most of all have you asking yourself, WHY, WHY ,WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DO THAT!!!!!!!

I am a huge fan of D H Sidebottom and this is the first book that I have read by Rebecca Sherwin and will definatly will not be my last.

Binary Code by Rebecca Sherwin and D.H. Sidebottom I have to start this review by saying that I truly did not understand the synopsis and it really did not give me a true ideal of what I was about to read. Matter of fact based on the synopsis I would not have read this book. I decided to read and review this book based on previous books I have read by D.H. Sidebottom. I was not disappointed. This is the story of Harley she is an Art Curator at a gallery by day and computer hacker by night. She has experience something traumatic in her life and she is doing her best to keep her head above water. At a gallery event she ends up meeting Carter a good looking man with 2 different eye colors. She has the feeling that he is dangerous but there just was something about him that draws her to him. This is a story with many twist and turns and several surprises. The more I read, the more I loved this story. I can say that this story was very intense at times and very emotional. At the end of the book I was definitely wanting more. I was given an Arc of this book for an honest review. I give this book 5 stars.

I'm a little lost for words to be honest. I received an arc for an honest review and I have to say that I absolutely loved this book. It's exceptionally cleverly written, giving us a tale that has so many twists and depth, it's mindblowing. I've read all of Rebecca's books, I'm yet to delve into Dawn's but after this, I sure will. There is synergy in their words, it's hard to tell where one author ends and the other starts. The flow is flawless, the characters are so well developed you can't help but immediately fall in love with them. This is a story of courage, overcoming adversity, and finding answers. It's about characters that are damaged, as you'd expect from these two authors, yet their vulnerability and need for each other is palpable. There are some wonderful WTF moments that had my heart pounding and desperate to keep turning the page. I'd like to think we'll see more from these characters, and I know we'll see more from these authors.

The Binary Code
By DH Sidebottom and Rebecca Sherwin
***5 stars***

WOW…the only word that can describe the dynamics of this new duo, DH and Rebecca. When two twisty minds come together, you get the epitome of awesomeness! This story was dark, gritty, and absolutely mind-blowing.

Harley is drawn to Carter in a way that scares and secretly excites her, thus beginning a crazy chaotic ride into a somewhat horrific world. Her past truly comes back to haunt her, and we learn many interesting secrets about our girl, ones that could help yet destroy her at the same time.

This is a powerful story about love, loss and having the strength to overcome your addictions. It’s definitely dark and gritty and my heart broke for Harley and the pain and suffering she’s endured in her life, not to mention the present situations she finds herself in. Total mind bender, and I was surprised throughout the whole story, up until the very last page, which left me speechless and wanting more!

I'm a lover of dark romance, thrillers, angsty and heart shattering books. I do my best not to read to much about a book because I love going in blind. This was my first time reading something from both of these authors and I must say wow! They did a wonderful job of blending eachother a words no would have never thought this book was written by two authors. This story was everything I love in a book. I'm a glutton for heartbreak and also for the story to put my heart back together again. I don't want to give anything away because this book was truly amazing in the way it keeps you guessing and wanting more. Carter is truly the alpha male I always fall for. And Harley is every bit the mysterious female character that makes you want to be like her. They play so many tricks on your heart. I hope these two write more together and now I have two new authors to stalk and binge read. *Reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood*

How many times can I get surprised by the twisted writing of DH Sidebottom. Now add Rebecca Sherwin to the mix and prepare to be warped!! I didn't know what to expect of The Binary Code but what I got was a dark suspenseful complex story. I will admit that there were times where I went back and reread a section because I couldn't believe what happened and how I didn't see it coming. I was speechless more than once throughout the story, and my heart broke a few times for Harley!!
I love all of the charcters Harley, Carter, Ben, Evan, even Michael because his kind of "demented" is why I love these stories.
The Binary Code is a gripping page turner!! A must read for anyone who loves dark and twisted with a lot of surprise!

How excited was I to see D H Sidebottom was teaming up with Rebecca Sherwin & what a brilliant mind fuck of a team they make!!!!!

I don't even know where to start with Binary Code it is an epically amazing novel for a first time collaboration.

The story, plots, twists & darkness kept me on my toes & guessing the whole way through this book. The shocks had me gripped & completely pulled into the pages.

Binary Code is full of characters that I just couldn't help but love & also many I will happily loath!!
Carter & Harley were perfect but throw in Evan, Ben & plum & my heart is stolen!!

Binary Code has me salivating for more from these authors combined-just pure excellence!!

Wow!! Totally different than I was expecting. The suspense was constant, the characters intriguing and a surprising twist that was the icing on this delicious cupcake.

Such an awesome story.

I'm going to start off saying this was bloody amazing!
I've always loved D H Sidebottom's work but this was a first for me from Rebecca Sherwin and let me tell you these ladies smashed it out the ball park!
It's so far out it's orbiting the moon and shit ;)

I have to admit I went I near enough blind with this book, I didn't read any teasers or excerpts.
I wanted my mind to scramble to think about it and it still shocked me in places.
I'm pretty sure I sounded like that minion that say "what?!" Lol

While I was reading this i had to put in down for other commitments like a work as such but Everytime I put it down it was like trying to cut off a limb.
I was so reluctant to put it down. I even grunted in annoyance when I had to put away but when I had the chance to pick it up you bet your arse I snapped it up so quick like a cake lol

I'm so glad I went in partially blind it made the whole experience so much more thrilling and exciting!
I didn't really know who the names was but I soon made up for that when it sucked me in.

Harley was bad arse.
She was an amazing character.
Strong and resilient.
Fiesty and ready to take on her demons.

Carter was bloody fantastic!
I loved him!
Hard to soft ;)
It was amazing to read his and Harley's journey.
When you think you've cracked the code you have to unveil more.
A bit like a onion.
You keep pealing away layers and more and more things pop out to make you think.
I read certain parts to make sure I didn't miss anything!
This was so well written it just keeps you guessing and perched on the edge of your seat!

Make sure you check it out!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

From the Prologue,I was sucked into this story, which to be fair,is as the warning states at the start, a MIND-F*** of a tale! As a fan of DH's work,I was prepared for certain elements to crop up,but, this collaboration between both DH Sidebottom and Rebecca Sherwin, has BLOWN ME AWAY,leaving me with a WTF have I just read and oh I WISH THERE WAS MORE TO COME!!!

I am not going to go into great detail,as even the slightest hint would act as a spoiler-but I will say this story, told in alternating POV'S has twists and turns throughout, and just when you think you have it all worked out...BOOM! MIND-BLOWN!

This is all down to the writing, the flow of the story moves well, character's are well thought out,the detail(s) given are enough to grip you,and make you carry on - yes some of it is dark, with some sensitive subject-matter,which some might find upsetting (again I refer to the warning at the start) but I would urge the reader to continue until the Epilogue, and be left speechless and amazed by the work these two author's have created.

Congratulations Ladies,You are both awesome,a little bit sick and twisted, but it makes for a great duo,and I can't wait to see what you come up with next!!
