Hayley Faiman was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. She and her husband met when they were still in High School. They were married a few years later. They lived in Oregon while her husband was in the US Coast Guard. After living in Hill Country, Texas, for eight years and three years in East Texas, they now call North Carolina home and spend their time with their two teenage sons at all their events, screaming from the stands as they swim their hearts out!
First off, I just want to say this author can write. It's not perfect, but her books are so much better written than others in the MC genre. I'm always stunned (horrified) by the grammar and word usage in MC books...some of them are fucking illiterate...(*cough* Begley *cough*).
If I was this h, I'd never go to a public restroom again. All the OW in this book corner her in one and tell her all about the H's sexual proclivities.
Even so, I cannot believe how many BBF moments this H had in the first 30%. Can I put him on my BBF shelf and my hero-set-on-fire shelf at the same time? His BBF moments didn't save the book, but fuck, color me fucking surprised :) I was gonna 3 (maybe 4) star this puppy...
....Until 47%, then he became just another cowardly H who pushes the h away and fucks OW in multiples while thinking about the h. Then once the h has been physically threatened he pulls his head out of his ass. Sorry, but that's one weak m'fer and the doormat h deserved him after all. I want an H that doesn't need his h in peril to man-up, get his dick out of other bitches, and realize the h is worth fighting for.
Honestly, this H will cheat on her soon. Maybe not in six months...but he will.
SG Ladies: There is major OW drama in this book. After the H/h are first together, a clubwhore climbs in his bed and gives him a BJ while he's sleeping - he's half asleep and comes thinking/dreaming it's the h. Once he figures it out; he's angry at the OW and throws her out and he feels intense guilt over the whole thing. The H/h recover and I'm all good with the plot device...THEN...they separate cuz the H wants to "claim and brand" her, currently wanting her exclusively...but he can't promise her he'll be able to keep it in his pants in the future. She gets pissed so he makes the "smart" choice, dumps her and fucks the 2 OW that went out of their way to tell the h she'd never be enough for him and eventually he'll come back to them for some double trouble. And he does, in essence, fulfill their promise that terrified the h into thinking she'd never be enough for him. I find it hard to believe she'd be enough for him, too.
The hardest part for me was 24hrs after he'd been with the 2 OW and the h was abducted, the H/h are together like it never happened, fucking on the same dirty sheets he had the 2 OW on and that she will never know anything about :(
At 76% he gets drunk and almost fucks another 2 OW and the next day the h takes him back after he's been out all night and comes home with lipstick and perfume all over him...the same day he plans on getting his name tatted on her body...and she lets him. I was still at 2.5 stars until this...it isn't the OW drama, it's the doormat. And when he freaks out over whether she'll be enough for him sexually right before he's supposed to get her name tatted on his arm and he gets abducted while he's outside contemplating if she'll be enough...I was really hoping they'd kill him and this would turn into one of "those" books - no HEA/HFN.
There's more SG info...but I'm pretty sure that's enough. If not, PM me.
Best h quote: ---- "I don’t get angry easily, andI’m a doormat—I know that I am—but when provoked, my temper can get the best of me from time-to-time." --you'd think an h admitting her doormat tendencies would make me hurl or throw my kindle. It actually relieved me of my anger over just that issue and I liked her more because of it. I don't get that either...c'est la vie.
Total side note: I don't really like the way the H's in this series (or the last few I read) handle women that aren't their h's. Some of the treatment they dole out is abusive and borderline sadistic. I know these are MC books, but in general, it makes me nervous about their possible physical behavior if an h ever seriously angered them.
So we have the Hero who cannot ever sleep with just 1 woman at a time, he always needs 3somes due to his upbringing. He meets heroine when shes 16, hes in his late 20s, not much happens other than a kiss and a boob grab, they meet again when shes 19, both have thought about each other in the timeframe but have been with others.
Theres not much to the story, he wants her but doesn’t know if he can be faithful. Doesn’t want to really make her his Old Lady in fear he might eventually get bored. I didn’t see the possessiveness in him, it is mentioned a few times but not really shown.
This is definitely not safe for a lot of my goodread friends, there are a lot of descriptive sex scenes of Hero with other women.
Although, I liked the heroine overall I really do wish she had more of a backbone and made the Hero work to have/keep her.
BOOK REVIEW: Rough and Rugged BOOK SERIES: Notorious Devils MC #3 AUTHOR: Hayley Faiman GENRE: Contemporary MC Romance PUBLICATION DATE: September 23, 2016 CLIFF HANGER: No
3.5 - 4 Stars
NOTE: Due to adult language and sexual content, this book is not intended for anyone under the age of 18.
SYNOPSIS: Hattie Morris is a young girl with silly dreams and a fantasy she's been holding onto since she was sixteen years old.
"Dirty" Johnny Williams is a hard man who rides as a Notorious Devil, known for being filthy between the sheets, yet always wishing for the unattainable more.
One night, one kiss sets fate in motion, and neither Hattie, nor Johnny, can deny that their lives have been forever changed. Time and distance stand between them, but a chance encounter shatters their ability to resist each other any longer.
It's not long before Hattie realizes that fantasies are named thus for a reason, while Johnny learns that the innocence of a sweet girl is no match against his hardened heart.
Yet, inexperienced as she may be, Hattie knows one thing for sure. If she doesn't take a chance with this rough and rugged man, she'll never know if dreams really can come true.
MY THOUGHTS: This is the first time I read anything by this author and I will continue with the series. This is the third book, but can be read as a stand-alone.
This book is the story of a sweet young girl and the older worldly biker. Hattie’s childhood friend is famous for putting Hattie into dangerous situations and getting her in trouble. The night that Dirty and Hattie met, her friend just dropped her off on the side of the road because she was jealous of the attention Hattie was getting from a guy. Hattie ended up walking to a gas station to call her brother for help. Hattie was just 16 when Dirty saved her from being raped when he stopped for gas that night. He killed the would be rapist, the gas station attendant, and rode away with Hattie. He thought she was older and the chemistry was there after their first kiss, but when her brother, who is a policeman, came to pick her up and revealed her age, Dirty told her nothing could happen between them even though they both felt the strong pull.
Fast forward three years and Hattie’s friend puts her in harm’s way yet again when they attend a party at the Notorious Devils clubhouse. Hattie is dragged off by a hang around and Dirty found them and he noticed the woman was struggling. Once he stopped the hang around from choking Hattie, she passed out and he then recognized the girl that he had been thinking about for the past three years. He takes her to his room and when she wakes up, she sees the man that she had been dreaming of for the past three years.
They start a relationship, but Dirty has commitment issues regardless of the strong attraction. Dirty and Hattie come from two different worlds. Hattie was brought up in a somewhat loving secure home. Dirty left home to get away from a drug addicted mother and a father that supplied drugs to his wife and continuously had other women. This was how Dirty viewed relationships and his view was very skewed. All Hattie wanted was to go to culinary school and open a bakery and have a happy loving relationship with the man of her dreams, Dirty. I don’t want to give any more away, there is a lot that happens.
This book had a lot of push and pull with the differences between Dirty and Hattie, as well as people messing with their relationship. The sexy times were very steamy and Dirty was the teacher. Hattie could be a doormat at times, but that is the way she was raised because her father was so domineering. Dirty continued to have commitment issues which caused problems between them. Of course there is a running story of club issues, which adds to the story. The booked moved at good pace, told in dual point of view and was a good read.
If you like a good girl and a bad boy biker romance, then this may be the book for you.
Hayley Faiman is a spectacular author that pushes boundaries and makes you read outside of the box. I only have experience with her writing in the Notorious Devils MC series but man does she kill it with each new release. This book right here was so amazing yet gritty, raw, and real. Dirty is gonna make you squirm, blush, and so much more.
Rough and Rugged was a fast, sexy, dirty, and intense read full of passion, lust, and love. This book will speak to your heart and send chills down your spine. The action... and suspense... get ready to get caught and intrigued from the first page.
Hattie and "Dirty" Johnny... yeah everything about them was right. I had big dreams for Dirty and he did not let me down. And Hattie... perfect in every way for him. Believe me, it wasn't easy and they went through he!! and back but in the end, it was all worth it.
Each tear... each frown... each smile... each laugh... every angry moment... every heart stopping event... every heartbreak... these two are going to rip your apart, pull at those heartstrings then piece you back together in the most perfect way. You just have to sit up, grab the edge of the seat and hang on for one crazy ride.
And as far as the set up for the next in this series? I CANNOT WAIT!
(because this is a thing I do .... NOT a #CoverWin ... Not sure who finds a dirty (from actual dirty) man with a cigarette hanging from his mouth appealing or even sexy) ... But this is just an opinion and has no bearing on the story. So moving on.
I really like this series. It reads exactly as an MC read should. It has passion and suspense. It's gritty and intense. And most of all, it's got ridiculous chemistry between the leads. The story is told from both POVs (which is a huge win) and continues the overall arc of the club itself as well as the romance between Hattie and Johnny.
This is a series I will continue to keep up with because Haylay Faiman has proven she's very good with words! She makes me believe in the story and it makes sense.
What can I say. He’s a dirty DIRTY man! But I loved him. Heck I’ve loved this whole series. Hattie has my heart tho she reminded me so much of myself. I related to her so much. I grew up very sheltered also if I’d brought home Johnny my dad would’ve flipped his lid. I can’t get enough of these guys!
So I really wanted to love this story after reading Rough and Rowdy and Rough and Raw which I did love. But something about this one didn’t hit home for me. Johnny Williams and our leading lady Hattie Morris just didn’t click on the pages in my brain. There was too much push and pull – too much time and too many things that I couldn’t see connecting together. This is the tale of a hard man and an innocent girl .. the situation of how these two met just started it all for me. Being as innocent as she was she sure lost that quickly with Johnny.
Hattie also didn’t stand her ground with her so called best friend that was the cause her of always getting in to situations that Johnny needed to intervene. Commitment issues plague these two and like I said I just couldn’t quite get into the storyline – However this is the first time that has happened in this series ….. having said that I will continue to read and know that the next will most likely get me back in the game. The characters are written strong and the story line is good but not my cup of tea. Im rating it the 3.5 stars because the series as a whole is not lacking.
Just because this one wasn’t for me doesn’t mean it wont be for you. Trust me on this as you should grab up the other two books that hit the shelves prior to this one. Let me know your thoughts and I look forward to moving on with the Notorious Devils on the next ride.
Thank you for the ARC! Review to Post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets
I am loving Hayley Faiman's Notorious Devils MC series and the third installment Rough and Rugged is another dirty, filthy, explosive gem to this series!
The bikers of the Notorious Devils are hot, alpha males that break every rule with no apologies. Johnny "Dirty" Williams might be the worst or the best of the group, it depends on how you look at it. Hattie Morris is too young, too innocent, and too sweet to handle a man like Dirty.
No way could I even imagine this couple making it. Dirty gave me whiplash because I couldn't decide if I loved him or hated him. I went back and forth almost every chapter regarding him. I thought Hattie was too soft, too naive, too complacent to stand toe to toe with this Devil. But then something amazing started happening as I read, I realized I was looking at these complex characters all wrong. Hattie was strong, she knew her limits and walked away knowing if she stayed she couldn't be true to herself. Dirty knew he could give Hattie what she needed and his past didn't define him. They complete each other and brought out the best in one another.
The sex scenes were plentiful in this story and they are off the charts scorching. Dirty might have come across as a jerk at times but he is a master in the bedroom. After I got finished reading I wanted to join in with Dirty and Hattie!
I love Hayley Faiman's books. She is an amazing author and I can't wait to see what she does next to top this one!
People compared this to other MC books and the writing style. I personally found the writing totally childish with zero plot. The characters and their actions didnt make sense at all.
Hero cheated on heroine. There was zero grovel. Heroine was weak and with no backbone at all. The only backbone she showed was to stand up to her brother when he so stupidly and with selfish and petty moves tried to sabotage her relationship with the hero. The oW referred to as "whores" throughout the book instead of club girls like in any other MC book were mean and petty. Their ways of manipulating and hurting the h and H relationship was childish. The evil in this story turns out to be heroine's best friend IMO. She was truly a worse character I have ever read with no depth at all. Why did she do all that? Because she had so called feelings for the heroine! Not a single action of hers during the story reflected that. In fact she seemed like a regular jealous woman who wanted heroine's bf. IF she loved her why woudl she leave her alone in dangerous situations and go have sex with random dudes.
I was pulled right into this story. This story contains heartbreak, pain, secrets, danger, and suspense.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Rough and Rowdy (Notorious Devils MC, #1) Rough and Raw (Notorious Devils MC, #2)
This is Hattie and Johnny's story. Hattie believes in fantasies. Her friends tend to put her in situations that could get her hurt r worst. Johnny saves her and lets her go even though the pull between them is strong. But one kiss with an older bad boy might change all her beliefs but not his. Can she count on a man with such a hardened heart to protect and love her or is that the true fantasy believing in what will never happen? With them being so different can a relationship ever work? There past and future plans are so different but will love really concur all?
I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.
Didn’t quite get to the halfway mark so not going to rate it. This author can write but I’m not a fan of her heroines. They are doormats who never seem to have any character growth, so I find them boring. And I’m always left wondering why they act the way they do since no woman I know would ever put up with the shit these women lie down for 🙄🤷🏻♀️
Still, I like the writing style. I just wish she wrote heroines I could relate to. Or maybe if the book was written in third person? At least then I could distance myself from the heroine. Then I won’t be left feeling like slapping them upside the head to find even just a small shred of self respect…
I don’t understand how anyone enjoys reading about a doormat heroine and so much OW drama. I’ve read some pretty good books with cheating in it but this is a hard no. The author can write just not the kind of heroine I want to know about period. How she didn’t get an STD is beyond me. In summary if you’re looking for a strong heroine thus ain’t the book 🤮
She needed to be saved. Twice. Both times his savior was the biker, typical bad boy, outlaw Dirty Johnny. He had a horrible childhood that marked him in many different ways. But he doesn't talk to anyone about it.
Addictive. There is no better word to define the narrative. Hattie and Johnny have a magnetic attraction. And although they had such different childhoods, their insecurities are quite similar. They want the same thing: a family. She doesn't know if he is the right man to build this dream with. He thinks this is a dream that he doesn't deserve to live.
This is certainly the most erotic book in the series until now, but it is equally intense in many other ways. In fact, the whole narrative is very intense, both in events and feelings. Both protagonists live a whirlwind of emotions, from love to fear, through uncertainties and insecurities of all kinds.
Johnny needs to believe in himself and overcome things he has lived and learned in the past with his parents in order to be able to fully live the happiness of having the family he so desires. Hattie must decide whether or not to accept all sides of the man she loves and she will know several of them: from sweet to perverted, there is so much more to Dirty Johnny than you can imagine.
Well developed and well written, the narrative catches the reader's attention and is the kind of book that anyone who loves a tattooed biker can't miss.
Cheating with 2 club whores at once and she never finds out. This is while she is kidnapped by the way, by his parents. He finds out the next morning. Ugh. He goes to a strip club later in the book and has 2 women he has been with take him to a back room and they are all over him and put on a show for him. He does leave but the damage is done buddy. He goes home the next day and smells of perfume and has their lipstick on his face. How does she get over this????? How do these women put up with this shit?

They made when she was 16. Johnny didn't know and he kissed her but he just walked away after. Now 3 years and her coming to the a party at the MC he remembers her and she remembers him. Will Johnny get the family he's been craving and will this 19 year old be the woman he needs
Sex sex and more sex. I seriously don't feel any emotional connection between the two of them. They have sex all the time and when their not they are questioning themselves if they should be together. Seriously?
Dirty definitely is dirty with a capital D. He doesn't think he can be with just woman, he pretty much says that all the way until the end.
Hmmmm as a fan of this series, I really wasn't too sure about Dirty Johnny and after finishing the book, I feel the same way. Not too sure. I liked the guy, then he would actually talk and it all went out the window for me.
"I want to ruin her, dirty her up in every way imaginable. I want to make her cry and beg and destroy her." ~ Dirty Johnny
And that. Yes, he is Dirty Johnny and we got a peek of him in action before, however in your face Dirty Johnny was quite the handful. While I love an alpha as much as the next girl, I need a little balance in my guy. A little more this instead of so much that.
These MC guys are famous for loving and protecting thier woman and that's what I liked in this series. Sure they have a bossy side and it balances out with the sweet side. Hattie is a very young girl brought into a life she knows nothing about. Unlike Kent and Brent, who had some life experience under thier belts, Hattie has to learn about things from Johnny. A guy with a very heavy hand and very dirty mouth.
Like previous books in the series, Rough & Rugged is jam packed with action, some romance and steamy, steamy sex. Dirty Johnny sure lives up to his name. the club still has some trouble from outside forces and Hattie gets a quick lesson in what it really means to be an Old Lady.
Well written from dual points of view, Rough and Rugged did a great job at moving the series along. We are kept up to date with the former featured couples and Hayley Faiman sets up MadDogs book nicely. Hey, we can't love them all, but I will be patiently waiting for the next one.
Rough and Rugged, that is the perfect title for this volume of The Notorious Devils MC series. “Dirty” Johnny Williams is exactly that, rough and rugged. He has not had anything soft and sweet in his life. He most definitely earned the road name “Dirty”. But there is another side to this rugged man, a side cloaked in fierce loyalty, a side that wants to protect and love. A side he was convinced he was incapable of, despite the longing he felt every time he was around the children of his brothers in the Notorious Devils Motorcycle Club. Hattie lived a decent life, she was a bit naive about the world around her, who was loyal to her and who she could trust. But the one person who everyone else thought was going to hurt her and ruin her life was the person who was there when those she trusted turned on her. Johnny brought out a side in her that she didn’t know existed. A side of strength and perseverance. Johnny and Hattie are the most unlikely couple. Hattie is nineteen and just starting out in life. She hasn’t experienced much and is a bit naïve. Johnny is thirty and has experienced too much in his life. He has seen and done things that most people will never experience. Fate brought them together for one fateful night three years earlier, and fate has brought them back to each other now. Will they be able to be the opposing forces for each other to bring balance to each other’s lives? Or are their worlds just never meant to be together? This story had me sitting on the edge of my seat. There was suspense, hot steamy romance, action and lots of filthy talk. Ms. Faiman turned the heat way up on this novel. You will most definitely need a cold drink and a fan handy while reading this story. There were times I was so engrossed in this book that time slipped away and I didn’t even realize how long I had been reading or how late I stayed up for just one more paragraph, one more scene, one more chapter. I love that other characters from earlier volumes of the ND series showed up in this volume, it was great catching up with them once more. Ms. Faiman has also weaved into this series a story line that crossed over with her Russian Bratva series. If you read them all in release order, you will see the seamless crossover and how this story line only enhances both series. Rough and Rugged is another 5-star book from Hayley Faiman.
“I bite my bottom lip, confused at his words and his meaning. I close my eyes and just accept what he’s giving me.”
Heat Rating:
5+ Rough and Rugged stars!!! Dirty, Sexy hot!!!!
Hattie and Johnny!!! OMG where do I even begin?? I was sucked in the minute I started reading and I couldn’t put my kindle down!! I found myself obsessing over what was going to happen next, like I needed to know!!! Hayley has a way of pulling you into the pages and not letting you out until the end and I loved every second of it. Seriously she has a HUGE fan in me!! This is definitely my favorite books she’s written to date!

Great writing style which is what kept me reading.
I think I disliked this one the most :( It makes me feel awful as the writing is so good, it’s just the characters and some missing parts that let it down. I really liked Johnny in the first two books, he seemed a bit more settled and helped the others with their relationships….I was looking forward to his story, but was disappointed. Hattie I liked but she was still a doormat. The biggest issues I had was that she never found out about what he did when she was being kidnapped. I guess the author felt that it would’ve pushed Hattie over the edge and never want him back again and affect the HEA….if that was the case it should’ve been left out completely …or at least have him not go so far. That really annoyed me, as a reader I know sometimes we are left with things that a character doesn’t know, but usually it gets revealed or there’s at least another alternative. I was waiting for it, but it never got revealed to Hattie. That left a massive bad taste in my mouth and tarnished the ending. Also….. if your going to mention std’s in the books and the characters being clean…they aren’t clean if they are getting bj’s from the club wh*res unsheathed, then going back to the FMC.
It might sound that I don’t like the books…..I really do as the writing style is so good. I just need more grovel. I love a good angsty, cheating story…I don’t really mind an a$$hole alpha male, but the female responses have to strong and not like they are getting walked all over.
I’d absolutely love to get the authors POV on this!

Not bad at all, but I liked the previous books way better, hence the 3 stars.
Johnny and Hattie met when she was just sixteen. He saved her from a bad situation and something clicked between them - I didn't feel it but believed them anyway. Fast forward three years when Hattie's toxic bff brings her to one of the club's parties and they meet again, once Johnny saves her from another assault. Again. Her cop brother is a factor that holds him back a little but soon he can't help himself and takes her. Her sweet innocence is something he's never had before but his determination to make her his lasts for a week or so. Due to his upbringing, he believes his sexual preferences mean Hattie couldn't be enough for him, he never tried but thinks he can't be a one-woman man. So he's back to his whorish ways in a heartbeat, that is, until Hattie's held hostage by the Devils' enemies.
Now don't get me wrong, I know what I'm getting myself into when I pick up an MC book. I don't like cheating, but MC books are rough around the edges and I have to suck it up. Get a blowjob after he convinced himself he's letting Hattie go, fine. But that he was fucking two clubwhores after abandoning Hattie while she was being attacked by the other MC? Not cool, bro. So not cool. That Hattie was and stayed a doormat didn't help. Or that even after that he got so easily unsure of her and their relationship
4.5 STARS I really liked Johnny even though he was a fucknugget the 1st half of the book. Cuz He wanted to be a good boy but dang he was DIRTY. Even I was cringing at some of the stuff he did. That first 3-some with his fingers in her butt then jamming in the other girls mouth....... Uhm NOPE! NOT EVEN IF YA PAID ME! BLECH! Butt ..... (hehehe) I did love him cuz he was rough n tough & potty trained. And God love him but he did love Hattie and that was obvious from the 1st even if he really had never been show growing up what love looked like. I'm glad Hattie seemed to get a backbone towards the end! Laughed my butt off when she asked to get that tat removed ROFL!!!!! Good Series I know the next one is about Max but I really really want one on Torch!!!!
I love Dirty Johnny Williams more than Bates ... but still love Fury even more ... reading #4 now ... Max is Fury's father ... and a cutie-pootie as well. I love the series. I think is a great idea for a book about finding a lady friend when you are way young and they both had each other in their minds until the meet when they are more at a okay age to start a relationship. I guess you could say this is an HEA for a motorcycle style series... if you could consider it HEA ... when you are living a motorcycle life. I think this book is the most mysterious or like edge of you seat read ... loved it! ( ;
will there be more than 4 books in this series?? ( ;
I have a lot of conflicting emotions about this one. I like a doormat h so Hattie didn’t bother me too much and she DID leave him when she didn’t think she could handle his lifestyle. That’s way more than most h’s do when faced with the same dilemma.
There was a LOT of sex. Like you can never have too much sex right but there was so much I skimmed a good part of those scenes after the 50% mark. I definitely skipped the detailed sex scenes with OW so if you’re not into that there’s your warning.
She’s got his tattoo on her but they both need constant reassurance that they’re “really” together up until almost the end.
Still really liked this one. *Shrugs*

I was given a free copy for an honest review, I love Hattie... Wow so sweet and Innocent pure white so to speak. You really like her and you are right with her as she falls for the "Dirty" Johnny. I would so like to get Dirty with Johnny!! OMG! what a wild ride that would be. HOT AS SIN!
