Kaz, one of five Cates brothers, honed his hacking, err computer skills from a young age. His abilities have more than served him well since, though at times is also causes trouble, as evidenced by yet another visit by the FBI, his former employer. He now offers his cyber security talents to others, and regardless of how many times and ways the FBI tries to lure him back.
Mirabel (Mira), an accountant, is currently All Shook Up, yes, she's dressed as Elvis. LOL But she grows closer with every step toward her search for help, and her goal of staying hidden from her ex-boyfriend, Ivan. As she performs her telegram, she's shocked to see twins, and after cleaning up the different birthdays, realizes her performance was for one, but her situation requires the other. Mira knows he's the Wizard, the man capable of helping women in dangerous situations disappear, but he sends her away.
Kaz, having received a heads up to stop his underground work for a bit, sends Elvis on her way, believing she was sent as a trap. However, he can't quite forget the look in her eyes and the desperate way she grabbed his hand. As more Elvis sightings occur around town, Kaz can't help but feel bad and begins to waver in his belief that she's the bait to catch him. When he realizes Mira truly is in need of his help, he agrees and, as they're limited on time, offers his guest room.
As Kaz helps Mira with her situation, Mira decides Kaz needs some as well, albeit in a different way. Kaz may be brilliant, but prone to pick up social cues, as in those from women, he is not. Mira offers her assistance as sort of a thank you for all he's doing for her. Now if only they weren't so attracted to each other...
"What he felt for her was bigger than that. Needier than that. Possibly even greedier than that." - Kaz
Why is Mira's ex so reluctant to let her go? How far is Kaz willing to go to protect Mira and ensure Ivan is out of her life for good? Will he fight for a future with Mira? Or will he feel helping her become someone new is the better choice? Can Mira trust in Kaz and their connection? Is Mira safe? Is there a HEA for Kaz and Mira?
One-click now and follow along as a desperate woman searches for the one man that can help her escape her past, and instead discovers her future. While this is book four in the series, I had no trouble following along without having read the previous titles.
On a purely personal note, having every woman, aside from those related, dating/married to one of his brothers, or older than him, flirt and/or hit on Kaz, got really old, really fast. Not to mention it all happened while Mira was with him. An example of why it became annoying? Within the first 30% of the book, it had already happened with four women, which breaks down to one at every place he and Mira visited, excluding only his parents' house and the mechanic's garage. Thankfully, this faded fairly quickly after that part.
