A solid, well illustrated presentation of the Skara Brae site and what we understand about the people who made it. Looking at the site, I immediately thought "it was a prison". The regularity of the "cells", the single entrance, the austere utility of the construction. I know I'm imposing modern paradigms on the situation, but I would have appreciated if this work had at least addressed why experts discount such an obvious conclusion (if they do). In a similar vein, evidence of nearby agriculture, aquaculture, and other evidence that the site was a village could have been presented.
This is the official Souvenir Guide of the World Heritage Site of Skara Brae. As a guidebook it first takes you around the various viewing points in the site and explains what you see at each. The second section is a compliation of information about the site. It provides the basic information about Skara Brae in an easily readable short format.
