I only read this for the Brussels travel and if you're just going to one location vs. figuring out which location(s) you want to go or hopping around, this is not as in-depth as other books. Might give a good overall view though.

Fodor's Essential Europe: The Best of 26 Exceptional Countries is a full color travel guide. Each chapter is a different country. Pictures of all the great places. Museums, sights, restaurants, hotels and nightlife are all included. Highly recommend.

This book covers the best of European countries, most of which will be on a travelers itinerary. You’ll find a healthy mix of cities, small towns, and exciting regions as well as what to do and see in each country. A much more balanced travel book than Rick Steves.

Going on a Grand Tour, buying a Eurorail pass, or a total newbie to European travel? Great! Otherwise, this book is unwieldy even in a searchable electronic format.
