By "Beginners" I think she means "Beginners at drawing dogs" not beginnings artists, because if you don't know how to draw this won't show you. Although that seems par for the course with "how to draw" books: 1st step draw a smaller circle next to a larger one. 2nd step sketch in a mostly complete dog head.

I would recommend this book for intermediate artists who want to learn about drawing canines. You will probably find the anatomy section helpful. (Unlike the Color section: why even discuss color in a black and white book? Just look at an actual dog.)

A lot of the book is devoted to discussing breeds and their traits, and this seems more aimed at dog fanciers than artists. The illustrations are cute and I think this will appeal more to dog lovers than to artists in general.

First I would like to state that I have received this book through the Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. I would like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity and honor in being able to read this book. When I received this book I began reading and looking through it at once. This is a wonderfully illustrated in depth guide into how to draw dogs and puppies. This is a step-by-step guide to drawing different breeds & mixed breed dogs and puppies in pencil and or pen-and-ink. This book includes very easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions for drawing dogs in many different poses and expressions. The author includes some basic information on what art materials and other information to help the beginner draw and feel confident as they learn to draw lifelike drawings of dogs and puppies. It shows the dogs in different poses, the anatomy and the different colors of their coats. Very well done. A must have for the beginner artist who wishes to be able to draw more life like dogs and puppies.
