I love the Lego books, I really do. They are fun and meta and really enjoyable, even if you are past the age of the intended audience... and then you have stuff like this: a perfectly respectable woman with a good track record concerning her professional life... and as soon as Batman gets into the picture she is a useless tool who follows around, gets treated poorly and waits for Batman to come around to the idea of teamwork... yeah... way to go... I wouldn't want more stories of that either...

My children love these little books. They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them. Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read short-stories to my children that are clean and respective.

DISCLAIMER: I have not yet managed to see the LEGO Batman Movie.

In which Barbara Gordon is not a librarian (Boooooooo!) and is a Strong and Competent Female Character (who still seems to end up as a plot device for making Batman realize he's being a tool and can't do everything on his own).

We're thrilled you read "I'm Batgirl!" by Tracey West. This book highlights bravery and the importance of helping others. Like Batgirl, you can be brave in your daily life. Whether it's trying new things or standing up for what's right, you have the power to make a positive impact. Remember, being brave doesn't mean you're not afraid; it means you act despite your fears.

Love,
Mom and Dad

The story of how Batgirl, daughter of retired commissioner Gordon and now commissioner herself, came to be. This was okay. I'm not a fan of these stories that come from some cartoon for kids learning to read.
