My Robot Ate My Homework

Logan better study up on his geography facts so he doesn’t flunk out!

Third-grader Logan Applebaum has the perfect solution to finding time for all that pesky homework—just have his cousin, Java, do it for him. With a robot cousin, Logan’s pretty much guaranteed straight As.

But when Mrs. Perriwinkle announces that the class will have a geography bee, Logan realizes that if he doesn’t want to be exposed as a cheater, he’s going to have to hit the books and fill his own hard drive with facts.

The competition’s going to be tough. And the more time he spends studying, the more he wants to show what he’s learned. Can Logan out-smart the mega mean Silverspoon twins who win at everything and a cousin who’s a super computer to come out on top as the geography king?

Internationally bestselling author Nancy Krulik and her incredibly talented daughter, Amanda Burwasser spin hilarious high jinks in the third book in the Project Droid series, which combines the literalness of Amelia Bedelia with a wacky modern edge, making for hours of laughter. And the fun continues with an activity in the back!

What it's all about...

Logan has an inventor for a mom and a robot...actually an android...for a cousin. Java the Robot goes to school with Logan and is incredibly smart. He is a robot and knows everything! Logan has some issues with getting his homework done and for a short time relies on Java to get his homework done for him. Soon Logan doesn't like the uncomfortable feeling he has by cheating and in spite of getting tons of A pluses...he stops and starts studying and relying on himself.

Why I wanted to read it...

This book is clever and fun...but it is fun that carries an important message.

What made me truly enjoy this book...

The fact that Java didn't get idioms was truly funny. The Silverspoon twins and the competition in this classroom was fun, too.

Why you should read it, too...

This is a great book for beginning chapter book readers. It's a little different...has a ton of interesting facts and even includes a recipe at the end for Sesame Noodles.

Logan’s scientist mom built a robot kid named Java. Java goes to school with Logan and tries to fit in, but his robot brain makes him incredibly smart at facts and homework, but incredibly wrong at idioms and social cues.

In this book, Logan gets Java to do all of his homework, but when a geography bee is announced, Logan worries that he will be found out.

I really enjoyed this! Very funny, with shades of Amelia Bedelia when Java misinterprets sayings. Logan learns a lesson without getting in trouble or too much moralizing. And there are lots of interesting facts thrown in because of Java’s expansive knowledge. Will definitely recommend!

Logan is a grammar school student who does not study but uses his android "cousin" to do his homework and give him answers in school. Until his teacher announces a geography bee and Logan realizes that this time he cannot use his cousin for the answers.

This is a wonderful children's book...
