5 star content

For content, I give this 5 stars. My overall rating was 4 stars because of so many typos and grammar issues. Sometimes the wrong person's name would be used, sometimes possessive was used for a plural, sometimes the word would be wrong like from autocorrect on a phone, and sometimes the beginning or end of a word would be missing. It was definitely frequent, but not enough to make me stop reading. Occasionally, I read a book where the grammar is so bad that it pulls me out of the story. That wasn't the case here although it did cause some momentary pauses. As for content, I adore this author and her writing style. All the heroes in this set are over the top possessive ( not in a creepy way, but a sexy way) and protective, believers in love at first sight, and willing to go the distance for the people they love. The women are full of inner strength and sassy attitude. The combinations make for exciting reading and real connections with the characters. I liked this even better than the author's Lane brothers series, and that's saying a lot.

Might have been a good read, but

This is a bundle with six books about a group of mercenaries working for a rich guy. At first they are looking for Dane's sister, and then they are just focusing on other rescue missions and surviving their enemies. The books are good, but not great, entertaining, but not something especial. They go between doing amazing work and making silly mistakes, both sides. And of course, they all fall in love or recover lost loves.



Book 1, Shane: The book starts with Rory and her friend Mac being transported to be sold. They arrive and Rory is given to Vasili, only Vasili is not who he seems to be, he is Shane, an operative trying to infiltrate the Russian mob to look for Natalie, the sister of his boss. Shane saw Rory, and of course, without even speaking to her he fell in love with her, so when he found out she was kidnapped, he arranged to buy her to keep her safe, but also, he needs to use her to get closer to the enemy. His friend Banner fell for Rory's friend Mac, so when they refuse to sell Mac, Banner goes and brings her back, then, to protect them, they marry them.

At first Rory is mad at him and doesn't want anything to do with a man capable of buying and selling women, but as she starts spending time with him, she realizes that he is more than what he says he is, and little by little she starts suspecting that he is not the bad guy, and falls for him. When her friend Mac goes crazy, she confronts her, until Mac confesses that she is the daughter of the bad guy, and that he wants her to go back with him and marry his right hand. He also wants Rory, because he promised her to another of his top men. Rory is mad that her friend is willing to betray her and give her to a sadistic bastard, but she understands when Mac says that her father has her son, the one she gave for adoption.

Both of them get out of Shane's house, and arrive to find that it wasn't Mac who was the bad guy's daughter, but Rory, and that her father used Mac only to get to her. Her father tells her that she is going to be a widow and she will have to marry the guy that's going to inherit his position, and then the guy shoots Mac. While she is there bleeding to death, Shane and Banner arrive. The bad guy says he knew who they were and that he is going to kill them, but they manage to kill him and escape. Once away and knowing all the truth, Rory falls even more for Shane, and they get back to USA.

What I didn't like is how at first Rory was very strong and confident, swearing that she wouldn't fall for the guy that bought her, and then, when she started suspecting that he was more than what he appeared, she did an 180 and was all over him. Also, she acted very smart, but when Mac told her they had her son, she never even bothered to ask for prove or anything, she walked right into the trap.



Book 2, Banner: In the previous book Banner fell for Mac, just by watching her, and when he rescued her and she did nothing but fight him, he just liked her more and more, for some reason, but then he got mad because she fell for the bad guys trap got herself hurt. She managed to survive the attack, but he left her as soon as she was out of danger, mad because she didn't trust him. Don't take into account the fact that he was impersonating a mobster that had bought her in the black market, just because he told her that he did that to protect her, she had to trust him blindly.

So he was mad at her, but then when he had time to think and read about her past, how everyone betrayed her and discarded her, he finally realized that she had trust issues and that there was no reason she had to believe he was going to be any different than her parents or the other people in her life. So he went to find her and ask her back, and of course, he arrived just in time to save her, because the guy that almost killed her doesn't like to leave jobs unfinished and decided to kill her. So they decide to go looking for a little black book that was supposed to be for the bad guy's daughter, and that they think they can use as leverage to get them out of their backs.

Of course they arrive to claim her "inheritance" (Since at first people believed Mac was the bad guy's daughter they are using that to get Mac to claim the book), it turns out it was a trap and they kidnap her. She is thrown into a cell in the bad guy's compound, and she ends up in the same cell as Natalie, the girl everyone is looking for. So being a street kid, she knows all about picking locks and they manage to escape. Of course, everyone is looking for them, but the good guys find them first and take them back to USA where they decide to give their marriage a real opportunity and confess their love.



Book 3, Brandon: Brandon's brother was killed by the same people that kidnapped Natalie, in fact, he was her boyfriend, and ended up giving them the information they needed to take her away. Before dying, he asked his brother to help Natalie, and Brandon swore to get revenge on the people responsible for his brother's death. Problem is, he needs Natalie to help him, and to get her help she blackmailed her, knowing that her brother didn't know her connection to what happened, for the mob used her to get access to their house and kill her mother.

She accepts to help him because she too wants revenge for the four years of abuse she suffered at the hands of the Russians. At first, Brandon is sure he wants to get his revenge, but the more time he spends with Natalie, the less he thinks he can get ahead with it, he loves Natalie and he can see how broken she still is, he doesn't think he can go ahead and use her and risk her falling in the hands of their enemies. He decides to break their agreement and she feels like Brandon is no longer interested in her. She decides to confess to her brother about her involvement in what happened, and he gets mad and yells at her, and she goes away and falls from the stairs.

Natalie gets a concussion and amnesia because of her fall. Everyone takes that as an opportunity to make her forget everything she went through the last four years, an opportunity to start again without all the pain she suffered. Since Brandon and her were telling everyone they were engaged, they keep the pretense when she wakes up and immediately shows attraction to him. She goes back to being a happy and carefree girl and everyone is happy about it. They resume their relationship without the problems her abuse caused the first time and they are happy, but then one of the guys that abused her manages to get into his house with the idea of kidnap her again, and when he notices that she doesn't know who he is, he starts reminding her everything that happened to her, and she remembers everything that happened, but thanks to the time she had without her memories she is not the same broken girl, she has some of her old strength back. She manages to grab a gun they had hidden in her room and kills the guy that tortured her during her captivity. After that she feels whole again and decides to stay with Brandon and push her brother to be happy again.

One thing that bothered me with this book was that they said that Dane and Natalie were twins, but during the book it seems like she is younger than him, and I don't mean a few minutes, but a few years.



Book 4, Dane: After his mother was murdered and his sister kidnaped, Dane changed and became a ruthless man. When that happened he was engaged, but he always took his girlfriend for granted, and once he became obsessed with finding his sister it only got worse until Jazz couldn't handle it anymore and left. When Jazz found out she was pregnant she tried to get back to Dane, but he rejected her, only Dane doesn't remember the letter where she told him about her pregnancy, and when he decided to look for her and found out about his son he got really mad.

Since she is broke and she wants something better for her son, she accepts to go live with Dane, but she refuses to let him control her life again, she accepts to let him be part of her son's life, but not part of her own. Dane is determined to win her back, and in the process he has to acknowledge that he wasn't perfect. The first time she wasn't as mature and let him control her every move and made her abandon her dreams, but now he is giving her the chance to get back to school and get the degree she wants.

The threat of the Russians is not over, and Dane is doing his best to keep everyone protected, especially his family. When they are attacked Jazz tells them about a call she had, warning them that the guy they thought was dead is not, and they start acting again to protect the group.



Book 5, Noah: Jay was a translator at the Embassy, she overheard a group of people talking about taking down the Battles, and since she used to have a relationship with Noah she called to warn them. They went after her, but she managed to escape. Noah called her and told her to meet him in Italy, but on her way there she was shot. She managed to call a friend to help her, and spent three months in recovery. Noah did her best to find Jay, but couldn't find her, until she called Dane and was transported to the compound, where Noah found out that she was shot and couldn't walk.

At first Noah was so shaken by the image that he couldn't even be with her. She wanted him to accept her, but he was so full of guilt for not being able to save her that he couldn't face her properly. Jay got tired of everyone feeling pity for her and exploded, yelling at the rest of the girls. Morgan talked to her and promised things would get better, and then went to beat some reason into Noah. After a while Noah finally got over his fears and they resumed their relationship. Jay took it as he was finally accepting her as she was, but when Noah started talking about how once she could walk again things would be better she was heartbroken and couldn't take it anymore, so when they went away to negotiate with the Russians so they would leave them alone, she took the opportunity to move out.

When Noah went back, he was heartbroken to find her gone because he had no idea why she had left him. Jay was also hurt and spent her time away crying and feeling sorry for herself, until she noticed her toe moving. She had accepted she wasn't going to walk again, but when she saw the movement she felt hopeful again. She decided to go to the doctor and called Noah since he was the one convinced she was going to walk again. When they talked Noah was surprised that she thought walking again was impossible for her since the possibility was high. The doctor said that the reason she wasn't walking was that the doctors had missed some fragments that were causing some swelling on her spine.

They operated on her and she started a friendship with her doctor, that appeared to have some kind of history with Morgan. One day while Jay was in the hospital a guy went and tried to kidnap Jay and her doctor. Noah wasn't there because they had gone to stop the last guy that was after them. When the bad guy was about to get them out of the hospital, both Jay and Lola managed to stop him, and they were beating him when the guys arrived and stopped him. After that Noah finally took Jay back to his house.



Book 6, Morgan: Morgan and Lola were childhood friends, they both had terrible childhoods and protected each other. They started as friends but moved to lovers in highschool, but Morgan enlisted, leaving Lola behind and saying that he didn't love her anymore. Lola life went from bad to worse, but she managed to survive and become a doctor. They found each other again when Lola became Jay's doctor, but Lola is still mad at Morgan and she blames him for some of what happened to him, so she keeps him at arm's reach.

Morgan keeps pushing and little by little they restart their friendship, but Morgan wants more even if she is not ready for that. He keeps pushing hoping that some day he will give him the chance. Lola is not ready for more, and she wants to keep her independence, but when her psycho brother starts threatening her, she realizes that she can't be by herself and calls Noah for help. She confesses part of her past to Noah, she tells him how after Morgan left her, her family moved to the house she's living in, and after that her mother and younger brother died. She was under her older brother's care, but he was crazy and decided he wanted a new family with her. He beat her and locked her in the basement for days until she managed to escape. Her brother was arrested and declared crazy, but the psychiatric ward made a mistake and let him free, and now he is threatening to go after her.

They move her to the compound and there they push her to get closer to Morgan. She wants nothing more than to have a family, but she is unable to have children and she can't adopt, but after Morgan sees her in a home, helping a little boy he asks Dane for help and manages for Lola to adopt the kid. After a while, her defenses finally drop and she accepts that she still loves him and never stopped loving him, but she needs to come clean with him if they're going to have a real relationship so she asks him to take her to the house where she tells her the last part of her ordeal with her brother. He was crazy, but what made him go over the edge was that he saw she was pregnant with Morgan's baby. He beat her until he killed her baby and then forced her to give birth to her dead baby, and then lock her up. The injuries her brother caused made her unable to have children, and that stopped her brother from rape her, but didn't stop his obsession. When Morgan hears about the baby he never knew he gets mad and leaves the house. Lola thinks that means that he don't love her anymore and gets out of the house and goes to visit her daughter's grave, there her brother finds her and is about to hurt her when the Battles arrive and stop him. They plan to make him pay for what he did to Lola, but before they do that Lola beats him, finally getting over her rage and pain.

After that Morgan and her decide to marry, and adopt and help as many children as they can.

This book series has everything you'd want from beginning to end. Every Battle Brother found Love,Loyalty,Tribulations,and Redemption in their lives. The missions they were tied to was the key to their long term happiness. The action,thrills,and drama played out on the pages like a movie you didn't want to end. The author made every character cohesive with the storyline and the dialogue. You read the story and you laugh,cry,and scream from the emotions rolling through you. The characters are believable because it's written with realistic sarcasm and honesty. Even the secondary characters were a big part of the process in completing a great series I was glad to have come across. I don't like reading series at all but I downloaded this collection a very long time ago and I'm not disappointed I did!

Love it

I am seriously in love with this authors books now!!! I think this is my third or fourth book bundle from her and they never disappoint. The men are kick ass always have to be in charge men but the women are strong. I love that they all have had to go through stuff but they are fierce and will likely kick butt before the men. I highly recommend this author and this book.

Good series

I always worry that one book out of the set will be worth it. All of the stories here are intense. You will enjoy the romances as they are varied, so there is one perfect romance for every reader. Even the so so stories are interesting as the men continue their mission.

A first from this author for me

This boxset is based around a group of guys who are like a special forces group. They each have their individual books but all the characters are present throughout. They are tough guys but they show their softer sides. The women have all been through so much but they are no shrinking violets either.

Sigh…..omg! Loved reading about the Battle boys. Most of them and their women have dark pasts, that come back to haunt them. But of cause they get their HEA. There’s a few writing errors and some lines I had to read a few times before I figured out what the author was trying to say, but all in all it deserves a 5 out of 5 or maybe a 4.5 😂

Great set

I really liked Rory in book one! She was smart and sassy. Mac deserved to die a horrible death alone.
Book 2 Mac and Banner are back. I still hate Mac. The author was close to changing my mind but never got me there. I just wanted to slap the hell out of her.

these books isn't my kind of read, but i gave it a go & i'm glad i did, if your an ex-soldier or ex-marine or still serving or married to one. I would say read these books, men might not be into them as well as women tho.

these books are about soldiers / marines on ops their unit known as the Battles, after they come home for good, that they stay together to help other people, to save people worse off than they are with their special skills, each one of them different. they all want the same thing in the end. To live a happy life & have a family, but they all struggling with life & their mistakes.

I loved THE BATTLES. This is a book filled with 6 sexy alpha beasts, 6 stories about love, family and second chances. My favorite couples are Mac and Banner, Morgan and Lola, Dane and Jazz. But Shane and Rory, Noah and Jay, Nat and Brandon are just as good. All six stories flow together. I hope Weaver does a story on St John men because they hold a cloud of mystery and maybe the Battles to make a special appearance. Well if you want to read about 6 hot couples dealing with danger then pick up THE BATTLES. Happy Reading

Captivating

Can't stop reading when you start!

Loved the strong characters and how their stories are skilfully interwoven. Real, gritty stuff here, and the HEAs are hard won, which makes it all so satisfying!
