Seducing The Boss

Rate this book

Kellan James is unwinding at Score when he spots the last person he’d ever expect to find in his favorite bar. Sara Connelly—ER nurse, do-gooder, charitable crusader, and frequent pain in his ass. Both grew up privileged in swanky Southampton, but that’s where the similarities end. Kellan’s made it his mission to seek out life’s pleasures; Sara gains pleasure from lecturing him on his lifestyle. Kellan would never date someone like her. Ever.

But when Kellan discovers Sara’s been stood-up by an online date, something fierce and protective awakens inside of him. Typically, Kellan would enjoy teasing the jilted Sara, but something in her face sends him over to her table with a plan. He encourages her to take a walk on the wild side, one weekend of sin, no holds barred.

She accepts, but it quickly becomes apparent that one night isn’t enough. As the pull between them grows stronger, Kellan discovers it’s a very dangerous thing to say never.

Each book in the Pulse series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

5 - "Never say never." Stars!

Being the first book I have read by this author, I have to say I was mightily impressed by Seducing the Boss, it may have been short, but it was perfectly formed.

I think the main thing that stood out for me, is the fact that Mari Carr took me back to the days where you were pretty much guaranteed to know that the Brazen book you were picking up would contain two things; plenty of sex, and an easy to get along with story-line, she did this in spades and I really hope to see more books from her through this imprint very soon.

"Careful, Scrubs. I bite back."

I absolutely loved this book, Kellan was sweet, dirty and sexy, and Sara, sassy, confident and perfectly happy to take the lead. Both of them aren’t looking for any serious commitment, and being friends agree to scratch each other’s sexual itches for one weekend only.

"You’re going to have to stop doing that…"

"Doing What?"

"Rolling your eyes at me. For some strange reason, it’s started turning me on. You roll your eyes, and I get hard…"

As you would expect one weekend turns out to not be enough, and I loved that the author made Kellan the vulnerable party of the duo.

"You’re the king of casual affairs. I was kind of planning on following your lead when it came to walking away. You’re fucking this all up."

The drama when it comes is relevant and not played out, and the ending and epilogue perfect.

"I’m not easy and I’m never going to be a sure thing."

I really hope to see more from this author through Entangled Publishing in the near future.

You know you are a bonafide Brazen book junkie when you practically don’t have to read the blurb because you automatically will read any of the books they published. And how could I not when their books have that push and pull, steamy romantic story lines. In the case for Mari Carr, she seduces her readers with a sexy friends to lovers romance trope in Seducing the Boss.

photo 721487def42d8451a579d85b24df00_zpse4sb4jsw.gif “Sara Connelly was hands down the toughest chick he knew. She was a no-nonsense ballbuster with a heart the size of Texas . And for his entire life, she’d been his conscience, the disapproving little voice in the back of his head that kept him somewhat honest. ”

Sarah Connelly has a great career as an ER Nurse. She loves her job but her love life is non-existant. So when Sara decides to do online dating, she is eager to meet the guy she has been chatting for awhile. She gets all glammed up and is eagerly awaiting for her date at Score, a local bar by the hospital that she works at. But when it comes apparent that she has been stood up, Sara is surprised to see her childhood friend and boss, Kellan James propositioning her for one weekend of just sex. No strings attached and they can go back to being friends and co-workers on Monday.

#SeducingTheBoss

Since it has been two years since Sara had engaged in a sexual relationship, she decided to let loose and just have some fun. There should be no harm with having some kinky and off the charts sex with your childhood friend...right? Well as it turns, Kellan and Sara did not just have sex. They had off the charts scorching hot unforgettable sex. It was pleasure that they both didn’t expect. And so come Monday, it was hard for these two to deny their sexual attraction to one another. Kellan wanted another week of no strings attached but Sara couldn’t do it. She informed Kellan that she had her weekend of fun but she can’t be someone’s booty call. She needed a real monogamous relationship. Will Kellan be able to put his playboy manwhore ways behind him and commit? Or will his notion of marriage and commitment change when he realizes that he could be losing not only his best friend but the woman he loves?

photo 721487def42d8451a579d85b24df00_zpse4sb4jsw.gif “For the first time in our lives, we want the same thing. You want a one-night stand, and I want to have it with you. You want to explore your wild side, and I have the experience to guide you through those desires—safely. You don’t want a lifetime with me, and I have no intention of making a long-term commitment. Everything lines up. It’s fate.”

Seducing The Boss was a fast paced lighthearted romance that was equally steamy and sweet. This is the first book that I have read from Mari Carr and it definitely won’t be my last. I love the flow of the story. There was never a dull moment as Mari did an amazing job explaining as to why Kellan was hesitant in commitments. So if you are looking for a story that was full of heart, heat, and passion then this book might be for you.

Hot Damn!! This was my first Mari Carr book, and it sure won't be the last after finishing this book.

Sarah Connelly is quite successful in her work as an E.R. nurse. Something she hasn't been that successful in is in love. It has been two years since Sara has been with a man, so she decides to finally put herself out there and try her hand at online dating. She ends up setting up a date at Score with a guy she has been chatting with. Unfortunately, Sara ends up getting stood up. That is exactly where her childhood friend and boss finds her.

"If I've learned anything this past weekend, it's that you should never say never. I used to believe hell would freeze over before I had sex with you. I'm just asking for another week or two."

Kellan James is a cocky womanizer and the hospital CEO that is most definitely not looking for a serious relationship. When he finds Sara looking hot as hell, he can't help but give into temptation and make her an offer. He wants one weekend of no strings attached fun. With Kellan's encouragement, she agrees to the arrangement. However, with each minute they spend together the more the attraction between them grows into so much more.

You all should know by now that I am a huge fan of the 'friends to lovers' story line. Although they didn't start off exactly the best of friends in this book, they do share a history starting since childhood. So I was so very excited to dive into this one, and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed their banter and the steamy sexual tension they shared. I could feel the smoking connection between and the steam off the charts hot! You'll be definitely fanning yourself when reading this one from the bits of kink in it. I absolutely loved the characters. Kellan was so sexy and swoony. There was so much more to him than what meets the eye, he had a few issues he needed to get over. Meanwhile, I really appreciate that Sara was not a doormat. She was a strong, independent woman. She was just so great and sweet. Together they were explosive and so perfect for one another.

"I could have resisted an asshole. Instead, you were charming and sweet and romantic and funny, and you made it impossible for me not to fall in love with you."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

The story was a very enjoyable one. I liked the pace and flow of everything. As mentioned before, the steam was crazy good, but what I truly loved was the connection they shared. This wasn't just sex, there were some heartbreaking moments in the book as well. The ending of the book completely melted me. It was so wonderful! I could not put this one down. I really recommend you give this book a read. Like I said, it definitely won't be my last Mari Carr book, that's for sure.

Mari Carr wastes no time in showing her reader what awaits them in Seducing the Boss and whilst may be a little heavy on the tropes, they're done well and Kellan and Sara bring plenty of hot and steamy goodness.

description

Hospital CEO and ER Charge Nurse, commitment-phobe and dreamer of love and family, Kellan James and Sara Carr are on so many different pages they shouldn't work. But they've been friends since childhood and when she's stood up for a date, he's there finding himself making suggestions neither of them expected.

"You want a one-night stand, and I want to have it with you."

I really enjoyed this and Mari Carr got the chemistry and characterisations just right. Kellan's not without his issues, but they're not overplayed and he was a perfect blend of thoughtful, protective, dirty and commanding, whilst Sara has a sweetness about her but a quiet strength and temerity that catches him off-guard on more than one occasion. Together they're fun, passionate, tender and supportive and amongst the sexy are parts to the story that tug on the old emotions a little bit.

"Sex didn’t screw this up. It made it better."

All in all an enjoyable, quick steamy read with likeable characters, and that's what I want when I pick up a Brazen.

I love a delightful hot and steamy read when I just want to forget everything else. Mari Carr delivered the goods with this spicy read that brings together two childhood friends that quickly find that the benefits can be amazing.

With plenty of heat and a touch of erotic flavor, this is a face paced read that just got better as it went along. A definite page turner, I love the delicious sex-on-a-stick Kellan. His protective streak comes out when anything has to do with sexy Sara.

Sweet heat combined with great writing makes this a must have for your delve into this tempting read. This is the first I have read by Mari Carr, but certainly not the last! Love this one!!!!!

Seducing the boss was a steamy, hot, sexy novel with a whole heap of sweet, feel good mixed in. It’s been a while since I have read a book that was just so easy. The characters were well developed for a book this length and I genuinely liked them both.

The blurb is a little misleading or maybe it’s just that it doesn’t really do the book enough justice. I was expecting a work place romance with the h trying to seduce the H but it never really felt like that.

Kellan & Sara have been friends since childhood, their parents are best friends and although they work together they almost work in conflicting positions, which causes some animosity but they are good friends.

When Kellan comes across Sara waiting for her date to show he is stunned to discover the length of her celibacy and is upset by how sad and inferior his normally arse kicking friend feels about it. So he proposes a weekend of kinky fun. After some persuasion she agrees.

They were both so sweet and caring I was dying to see them sort out the drama and walk off into the sunset hand in hand.

This was just a cute, sweet heartwarming novel. Loved it!

SO, this little book was quite surprising to me...

First, I didn't expect the story-line to be so completely well unfolded for us in such a short amount of pages. But it was.

Second, I expected the over-used trope of let's get this sex thing out of our system just this once and then never look back to make me eye-roll a million times because it never works lol. But it didn't. It was ridiculously well played and I had a ton of fun reading this!

Third, the sexual chemistry between Kellen & Sara was exquisite! And it began immediately and continued until the end! My girlie parts enjoyed it very much :)

So overall, WELL DONE Mari Carr!

Seducing the Boss is Mari Carr’s first story in the Pulse series, a steamy medical romance series which is being written by different authors. This particular story combines a workplace romance with a friends to lovers trope that had me engaged from start to finish.
Friends for ages, Kellan and Sara are always at odds at work. She’s an ER nurse, and he’s part of the hospital management team, tasked with finding ways to cut costs. There’s no right answer when patient lives are on the line. But outside of work, they’ve managed to keep their friendship alive and thriving. Kellan’s a bit of a player, firmly committed to no commitment, as it were. He makes sure the women he sleeps with know the score. But when he spies Sara all dressed up and looking glum and discovers she’s been stood up by an online date, he makes it his mission to put a smile on her face. He offers her the chance at a no holds barred weekend of sex between them – to scratch the itch they’ve both tried to deny is there, and to put any work issues on hold in the pursuit of pleasure. But when one weekend isn’t enough, will their workplace relationship and their friendship be compromised?
I really enjoyed this story! The conflict they experience at work is very realistic and I really liked how that part of the story was dealt with. They are both dedicated to their jobs and patient care – with Sara on the frontlines, and Kellan needing to make sure the hospital can be financially viable to stay open in the future. This definitely added to the challenge of their feelings for each other as they morph from friendship into something stronger. Their initial one weekend of sexual pursuit is steamy and well written. And what I really liked here was that it’s Kellan who wants to continue the relationship. Sara is all set to go back to being friends after their fun times together, but Kellan, the commitment-phobe, is the one who isn’t ready to call it quits. He’s the one in pursuit, trying to convince Sara that they can continue their affair in secret and no-one needs to know. But it’s just a form of denial for him that he’s coming to really care for Sara as more than a friend. When she calls him on it, he’s forced to confront his own feelings about relationships and commitment. The combination of the work place storyline and the development of their relationship was a real winner for me. I’m looking forward to more from this author and the series!

This boy is just what I needed after so many bad reads. It's a friends to lovers book with zero angst. Just a little pushing from the hero towards the end but that was fast wrapped up. He was alpha, strong and sweet. She was not a doormat or a pushover. A normal, regular woman who had expectations like all of us but was aware of reality. Loved it. Books definitely need more heroines like Sara

Kellan and Sara had a story that was appealing, but at the same time never felt fully realized for me. I think they had the foundation for an excellent relationship, but I never really felt fully engaged with their story.

i thought the conflict of his position as her boss was never really the conflict that it could have been, that this was solved too easily. I never was able to fully believe in his change of heart, even though the author did present a reason for it that was plausible, so there is that...it just didn't convince me.

The writing, the pacing and the dialog were strong. I just never engaged with the characters or fully with the story. I didn't believe that he would have a change of heart and I never really believed that Sara and his relationship with her was enough to cause him to rethink the way he was living his life up to that point.

I liked the potential of this one, and it was worth reading, but I think it could have been more.

This was a short, quick enjoyable read about lifetime friends falling in love unexpectedly. I have to admit, I didn't think anything really stood out about this story until I got to the second half of the book. I struggled a bit in the beginning because I had a hard time thinking Kellan just suddenly saw Sara in a new light when they have known each other since childhood. But then the heart of the story came out half way through. You learn why Kellan was in a state of denial and why Sara was the way she was with him as well. I really enjoyed this story once we got to the heart and the ending was very sweet!

My thoughts
This book was a wonderful read.
The writing, story, and characters were great and the characters in this book had off the charts chemistry.
My favorite books are the stories where the H/h have a history together, and their relationship gradually changes from friends to lovers in a perfect way.
Great story!
Scorching hot scenes!
Awesome characters!

I don't even know where to begin with Seducing the Boss by Mari Carr. I think it's safe to say we've all read the best friend turns lover trope at one time or another. Seducing the Boss isn't reinventing this storyline, but it does give us a fast paced, sexy read that you won't want to put down. Well, except to maybe grab the fire extinguisher. This couple generates sparks in a big way.

Kellan James is such a likable character considering he's a womanizing workaholic. In his defense his womanizing does not include misleading innocent women into thinking he wants more than a night or two between the sheets. He's a man who breaks into cold sweats at the thought of settling down, but enjoys having a woman when the mood strikes. And the mood strikes a lot!

I not only respected Sara as a woman, but as a nurse. She was everything a nurse should strive to be. I loved that she was a no-nonsense take charge kind of woman, but knew how to be soft when the situation warranted it. She was the perfect counterpart for Kellan balancing him in a way that no other woman really could.

This romance had tons of obstacles that seemed insurmountable. Kellan was her friend since early childhood and if that's not enough he's also her boss. You would think these things would be enough to keep two intelligent people away from starting anything intimate that could come back to bite them in the end. However, when Kellan saw Sara at the bar and considered her as something other than his best friend Scrubs (the nickname he uses for her which I adore) he can't seem to think about anything else. It didn't take him too much persuasion to convince Sara that a weekend of unadulterated passion between them and then back to life as is was just what they needed. My heart hurt for Kellan as he waded through his past and faced the demons that made him feel the way he does about relationships. I applauded Sara however. She stood her ground and refused to compromise on what she deserved.

This book is a definite must read. I am so sad that it's over.

Hello, hotness!! I should have known, after having read several of Mari Carr’s books, that I was going to get a little hot and bothered reading Seducing the Boss. And really, I did know. That was just one of the reasons why I decided to grab this one… I mean, a proven author—who has always given me fun stories and sexy characters and big smiles—and a boss/employee, push/pull relationship between two friends? Sign me up!

Seducing the Boss was a quick, easy and very hot read, and I loved the relationship between Kellan and Sara. I was expecting them to be almost enemies, and instead they had this charming relationship filled with history and sass and a respect that made their connection that much better. It was a blast to see them skirt around their feelings—which were palpable and electric—and try to keep things on a hook-up only level. Which, if I haven’t yet made it clear, was Hot. As. Hell.

The fantasies, the trust, the sweetness and the dirty, kinky wild that they shared, when coupled with a lovely friends-to-lovers story—along with a delightful ending—were exactly what I’ve come to expect and love about Ms. Carr’s books. And speaking of a delightful ending… It might have come a little too quickly for me, but the ending here was lovely and adorable and altogether SWOONY. And it left me with a big smile on my face, to match the pounding of my heart and the melting of my panties. I call that a BIG win, don’t you?

All in all, Seducing the Boss was the perfect late night read, and Kellan a near-perfect book boyfriend, all thanks to Ms. Carr. I can’t wait to pick up more in the Pulse series! ~ Beth, 4.5 stars

Kellan James has known Sara Connelly for years, but it wasn't until he saw her spruced up at Score, a hot spot for the employees at the hospital that he noticed she was all thing feminine. When Sara admits she has been stood up, Kellan makes her an offer she can't refuse, one night no strings attached that will satisfy them both. One night leads to the weekend though and Sara goes about making sure that line is not crossed again. Kellan though has other ideas, but is he ready to commit?

Hot, hot, hot. Kellan and Sara are intense as they fight the attraction they feel for one another. Once they give in it is fantastic, but one is looking for happily ever after and one is not sure they can offer that. I liked that they were both coming from different places. Sara as tough on Kellan, but i also think he was not used to being shot down. Great book.

With a BRAZEN book, I'm always guaranteed a sexy good time, and that is just what Mari Carr gave me in her latest release, SEDUCING THE BOSS. With a title like that and a book cover like the one above, do you even need to read the blurb? I think not my friends! Carr, being a 'new to me' author, seduced me with her words and held me hostage with her exciting, sexy, and forbidden storyline. I couldn't put this one down!

"He was no stranger to sex, or even mind-blowing climaxes, but that...holy shit. That was an entirely different drug. And he was already addicted."

Cocky playboy, Kellan James is not looking for love. He is looking for a one-nighter and then a quick and painless goodbye in the morning. He's never looked at his childhood friend, Sara Connelly, as even an option for a quick hook-up. But once he discovers that she's been stood-up, he is quick to rile her up a bit. He wasn't expecting Sara to look so damn sexy out of her scrubs, but he has definitely taken notice tonight. Kellan could give Sara some pointers on hooking up, but why not offer himself up for a test run. After a lot of hesitation and one explosive treat in the bathroom of Score, she decides, why not? After all, it doesn't look like Mr. James is giving her a choice in the matter. Lines are crossed...they know that their attraction is dangerous, but they don't hold back. A one-night stand turns into a weekend...and a weekend turns into two weeks...and no matter the timeline, they can't disregard the lust they cracked open in each other. Even though, Kellan is no stranger to the quick hook-up, Sara determines she needs more. Is Kellan ready to give her what she wants? Can he escape his father's past indiscretions and live the life he never knew he needed?

SEDUCING THE BOSS was a steamy romance with just the right amount of sexy and sweet. It has the forbidden element with the office romance, and the endearing quality of a friends-to-lovers story that will make you sigh happily ever after. I can't wait to discover more of Mari Carr's work. She has definitely won me over with her latest romance. I will, for sure, keep coming back for more.

That was the first "medical" romance I've read in a long while. I loved that while Kellan worked in the hospital, he wasn't a doctor...he was the dreaded hospital CEO who did the Board's dirty work. Sara is the head ER nurse and a long time friend of Kellan. They have explosive chemistry but manage to annoy each other. Once they finally give in - LOOK OUT! They were hot together. The whole situation with Kellan's family was something that I did see coming and I loved how it explained his stance on dating and marriage.

I'm so glad I read this and can't wait to read more from Mari Carr.

So when I say I’m a brazen junkie, I mean I’m a die-hard addict that automatically buys before I even bother reading the blurb. If it’s a new brazen release then it’s in my pre-order list. I knew I would love Seducing the Boss from the very first chapter because the pages were heating up from the very beginning and I loved every single page.

When people say friends make the best lover, they weren’t wrong. Especially in Kellan & Sara’s case. Not only have these two been friends for years, they are also boss and employee. Kellan for years has only viewed Sara as a friend until he begins to view her as so much more. Sara isn’t looking to get tangled up with playboy Kellan but she’s tired of the same old thing and is ready to branch out for some fun. Kellan is all about fun and is ready to show his friend how desirable she truly is. The both set the ground rules for one weekend of steamy hot fun and then it back to business as usually on Monday. What Kellan doesn’t expect is to meet the one woman who leaves his addictive for more. Kellan the king of one and done isn’t done at just a short fling with Sara. On Monday Kellan find out that he’s meet his match with Sara and isn’t ready to let go of the fire between them.

I loved Seducing the Boss so much! It has steamy scenes, some heartfelt moments, and as well as heartbreaking scenes. I loved reading this book and was sad the minute it was over. I needed more! It was an easy 5 star read!

Trope: Friends To Lovers

One-Sentence Summary: One weekend is never enough

Review: It has been a long time since I read a book in one-sitting but that's exactly what I did with this first book I have ever read by Mari Carr.

The chemistry between Kellan and Sara was electric and I really liked the setup of two friends taking it to the next level for a set amount of time. Of course one weekend is never enough and I loved how Kellan struggled both with his growing feelings for Sara and his father's affair.

I would love to see this author write more Entangled Brazen books.

This was actually pretty fun. I was expecting erotica and this turned out to be a decent short romance. I didn't cringe once. Go figure! Well, I did, but it was just that one line almost in the end so I'll let it slide.

4.5 stars - My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2016/07...

Sara and Kellan have been friends since childhood and that friendship has withstood becoming boss-employee, as Kellan is the CEO of the hospital where Sara is an ER nurse. They’ve always had a comfortable relationship, each knowing that they aren’t what the other is looking for. Kellan never does relationships, while Sara is ready for commitment and all that goes with it. But when Sara is stood up on a blind date, Kellan starts to look at her in a whole new light. The attraction between them is immediate, unexpected, and so potent that neither can resist giving into the temptation of one weekend of no-holds-barred sex. But what happens when one weekend isn’t enough?

Seducing the Boss is a sizzling friends-to-lovers romance I devoured in one sitting. Kellan and Sara are a couple with plenty of heat and heart to keep this addictive story moving at a fast pace.

Sara and Kellan are both incredibly likeable characters who charmed me from the first. Yes, Kellan is a playboy with commitment issues stemming from his past, and yes, Sara is the good girl who wants to take a walk on the wild side, but though those types of characters are common in romance, author Mari Carr made these two protagonists feel fresh and new. There’s an energy to them that makes Seducing the Boss feel vibrant, whether Kellan and Sara are hitting the sheets or squaring off in the hospital. Both of them work hard, and even though they find themselves on opposite sides at the hospital a lot of the time, they respect each other. They also have years of shared history, common interests, and an easy compatibility that gives this story its heart. And it’d be remiss of me not to mention the way these two can turn up the heat. The innate trust between Kellan and Sara means they can really let go and steam up the page.

There’s a lot to enjoy about Seducing the Boss , but what really made the story stand out for me was the simple connection between Sara and Kellan. The solid foundation they have from the start and the way it shows on the page makes the fast slide from friendship to sex to happily ever after believable. I absolutely adored this story and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the multi-author Pulse series.

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Whew...author Mari Carr turns up the heat a notch or twenty in her first release for Entangled Pulse, Seducing The Boss. He doesn't do commitment, she wants home and hearth, but for one weekend these childhood friends and work adversaries explore every sexy thing their minds can imagine and more. There is no denying this book was sexy as sin, but in addition there was a really great love story in the making.

Events from his teen years led Kellan James to no believe in love or commitment and so he has enjoyed quite a few women in his years. He's always honest with the women he beds and it's worked perfectly for him, but when he sees his childhood friend and current employee, Sara Connelly at a bar and realizes she's been stood up by a blind date he feels compelled to do something about the sad look on her face. He just doesn't realize that his proposition of a weekend of wild, kinky sex with no strings will change his life forever.

There was so much I enjoyed about this book including the history these two had as friends and the fact that they were on opposite sides of the table at the hospital where they both worked. Because they had that background together it made it easy for them to move into a no holds barred sexual relationship as they trusted one another implicitly. These two burned up ever surface they came into contact with and there were a lot of surfaces, but it was also easy to see that despite what was coming out of Kellan's mouth he was developing feelings he didn't want to admit. Sara was smart and she tired her best to guard her heart which I didn't blame her for and that action sent Kellan into a tailspin of epic proportions.

Kellan had some issues to work through and I give Sara credit for going on with her life and not waiting around for him to figure his out. While she truly loved Kellan, she knew he wasn't going to change for her and I admire her for refusing to stand by and wait for him to figure things out.

A hard fought love story with two people destined to be together and a grand gesture of epic proportions made Seducing The Boss a thoroughly exciting and entertaining romance.

A friends with benefits offer that was only going to be a hook up, that turned into a 3 day affair. It should have been cut and dried for Kellan and Sara. They've been friends since childhood, and remained that for years. Kellan's her boss, while Sara was happy enough to be an ER nurse. He has hook ups and casual flings and doesn't believe in marriage. She wants the whole package. But sex was on the table that night and it was time to get wild. But when Monday came around, the other one had a hard time letting go.

In Seducing The Boss, the friends to lovers trope had a very unique twist. Readers will definitely be fanning themselves with all that sex between Sara and Kellan but its actually how these characters friendship is portrayed that really makes this a worthwhile read. The pacing is steady, the dialogue almost lighthearted, in fact this was the tone initially. But it does change into something a little more darker in tone. Although told from both points of view, because the character of Sara feels more well developed, it skews more towards Kellan's journey as a character. Overall, Seducing The Boss will have you cheering for the happy ending.

For friends and coworkers Sara and Kellan thats all they are until one night a chance occurs for the two to have a weekend full of sex.

That should be the end of it right? One weekend..scratch the itch and be done. Kellan doesn't do more and Sara isn't a sex without ties person.

When the weekend isn't enough things changw. Will their friendship and working relationship survive or will more come out of it ?

Kellan has no problem stating what he wants, “I want sex in public. I want to tie you up in bed and eff you . And I want to pull you over my lap and spank that sexy *** of yours.” I loved Kellan, he was relentless.

Seducing the Boss is an adult contemporary romance by Mari Carr. I picked this book up because I loved the summary, but I didn't love the title (still don't because I don't believe that really fits the tone of the story) and I don't love the cover, but I wanted to give it a shot because the summary sounded like it would be a cute romance that I would enjoy. I think I should have trusted my gut on this one, because while I did like it a little, I didn't love it. I will say that I seem to be the odd one out on this opinion because on goodreads everything I saw was 4 or 5 stars.

Seducing the Boss is told in dual narrative between Sara and Kellum. I think part of my problem is that I just didn't love Kellum. I know, go ahead and stone me now, but I found him to be kind of a shallow jerk. Especially at the start of the story, and it left a bitter taste in my mouth that was hard for me to shake. He does get better and more personable as the story goes on, and I don't think there is any doubt at all that he develops real, and deep, feelings for Sara, but something about him just didn't jive with me. Sara and Kellum do have some great chemistry and there was not a whole lot of unnecessary drama, which I really appreciated. That was probably my favorite part of the book. I liked that once the romance became real, it wasn't dramatic just for the sake of being dramatic.

Overall, this one is good if you like workplace romances, which I do, but it was only an ok read for me. Everyone else seems to be loving this steamy romance, so I might be the odd one out. It was good, but I couldn't connect with Kellum 100%, so I think that was what prevented me from going from like to love. The writing is very solid, and the romance is hot, so I would like to read another of Mari Carr's books. I feel like I might enjoy the story a lot more with different characters.
