By God's design, the desire to be wanted and loved runs deep inside everyone He created. In an engaging and down-to-earth way, author Kim Cash Tate encourages you to satisfy that desire by living in the fullness of God's love. Cling shares wisdom from biblical examples and the author's personal experiences to help you cultivate an ongoing closeness with the Lord through prayer and Bible study. Discover how to have an intimacy with God that will sustain you through the imperfect, the disappointing, and the trying times of life.
Kim Cash Tate is the author of several books and a former practicing attorney. She has a deep love for the word of God, and loves to ignite a passion in others to not only know the Lord, but to walk intimately with Him. Kim lives in St. Louis with her husband of twenty-three years and their two children.
Wow. I just finished reading this book. What an encouraging word! What a timely word and essential word for people today—especially anyone who calls themselves Christian. Tate nearly redefines the meaning of being a Christian. She doesn’t take away anything from the message of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus nor the love and grace given to us. However, she makes it clear being a Christian isn’t about a one-time experience of forgiveness. Rather, it is a lifetime of growing intimacy that produces unshakeable confidence that Jesus has your back. He will see you through any circumstance. And even when things don’t turn out as you would like, the intimacy—the love, trust, and grace—emerges unscathed.
This is a book I will need to keep handy when I have doubts and need someone beside me saying press on.

I am reviewing Cling through Discovery House Publishers and Netgalley:
In this book we are invited to "Cling" to God. We are reminded that we are created to Cling. God wants us to lean on him. We are reminded that we were created to have a relationship with the Lord.
The author goes on to point out that humanity is not only marked by sin, but by death as well. Kim Cash Tate reminds us that we are born spiritually dead.
It is pointed out that God choose us for intimacy long ago.
We are reminded too of the importance of knowing God intimately.
We are reminded too that we can know the Father through his son Jesus.
The importance of making prayer a lifestyle is also discussed. We are reminded too pray when we need to watch our tongue, and to pray when worry hits. This book also reminds us that sin affects our intimacy for God.
There were some good topics and ideas in this book; I especially enjoyed the chapter on making a prayer a lifestyle and the various times when we can cling to God through prayer. It's kind of weird to say this for a Christian book, but to me there was too much discussion/explanation of Bible stories and not enough about the author's personal story. The personal story is what I relate to more in a self help, Christian kind of book like this. I also have a tendency to start and stop in the middle of chapters when I'm reading and found it difficult to pick back up where I left off in this book. This was usually because I was in the middle of a Bible story explanation and had to go back to recall what had happened prior to the page I was on.
I first came across Kim Cash Tate's name when I read an article she wrote for Desiring God. Sometimes when I read articles and feel like I've really connected, I look to see what else the author has written, and sometimes buy a book or read more articles. In this case, I bought this book.
Tate's book is an overview of what it means to cling to God, through praying, studying Scripture, and practicing obedience to God. Rather than taking pseudo-spiritual concepts and packaging them under a catchy buzzword, Tate steps readers through her own testimony and the Gospel, using the word cling as a focal point. The book has an accompanying Bible study, so I can see how it would work well for small groups, with a mixture of those who need a refresher on what the Christian walk is, and those who know little of what it means to follow Christ throughout life.
Tate's writing style is approachable and formatted for easy reading, with bolded text and headings. Readers won't require a glossary to approach the text. Tate also does well as she provides context for figures like Jeremiah, David, and Jehoshaphat. With ten chapters, under 200 pages, the book is one that would be easy to recommend.
Who should read this book: women looking to deepen their walk with Christ, women looking for a book to read for a small group.
CLING: Choosing a Lifestyle of Intimacy with God by Kim Cash Tate is a Bible study that will meet you where you are and take you where you want to go. The appeal of this book lies in its invitation to know God; but really, it’s more than that. With Scripture-rich points and narrative vignettes, Tate extends her hand and leads readers toward the One who knows them best. For those ready for and/or needing more, this book will do much to propel you forward, to urge you further, and to ground you deeper.
I was listening to Discover the Word on BRN last month and heard an interview with Kim Cash Tate who authored this book. Her personality seemed relatable to me and her interview was inspiring, so I bought her book on Kindle. I am so glad I did because her book had a lot of encouraging wisdom in learning to cling to God in all times of life. One thing I loved was that Kim mentions her Precepts foundation to studying the Bible. I have done Precepts for years and believe it to be so powerful. She uses characters from the Bible to apply the lessons which helps me because I find I learn better when someone’s story is involved. I found it interesting how Kim applied stories from David, Jeremiah, Hezekiah, and Jehosephat to our lives. The chapter that spoke to me the most would be Immoral Clinging. Kim helped me see a new side of Jesus that I won’t forget. Jesus had many encounters with women who were far from perfect. That means something to me because my whole life has been a struggle to achieve perfection. Something I now know, at age 42, is unachievable. Ugh, all the years wasted in emotional hell that I won’t get back. I loved that Kim said those years in my past can be a springboard for my worship. I have a new found freedom in knowing my God doesn’t expect me to be perfect. PTL! I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to get closer to God.
I am afraid that no review I could write would do this book justice. The author has written many blogs and posted many inspiring videos online detailing her experiences trying to cling to God.
I first came across her when I found her YouTube channel where over a number of years she has been doing the best she can to bring people to bend low, and bow down at the feet of the Lord.
I am really impressed by this book. It starts off a little slowly as the author takes spends necessary time to detail for the uninitiated a little of the theology of the walking the Christian path.
It's not long before she's painting an incredibly attractive picture, and inspiring the reader to come close to God and to cling on for dear life.
Everything she proposes has a solid basis in the scripture of the Bible. It’s clear she is minded the gold and silver contained within its pages, from the very beginning to the very end. She may have the mind of a lawyer but she has a heart of a very generous and giving individual, spending her time encouraging us to find our way back home.
This book was the first non-fiction book I have read from Kim Cash Tate and it did not disappoint. Having followed her content on YouTube, this book follows through with the #Cling lifestyle she inspires. A great read for new believers to understand what a relationship with God really means and can look like practically. It gives a background on creation, the fall of man, and how God's hand of intimacy was weaved from then on through people like David, right up until the time of Jesus' coming physically to the earth. This is interlaced with personal stories from her own walk with God. My favorite chapter was definitely Chapter 5 on making prayer a lifestyle. This particular chapter will be a resource that I will keep going back to as Kim amazingly describes how prayer can be like breathing. For all of those who may not consider themselves "prayer warriors", she describes a prayer lifestyle from a very achievable and realistic point of view. A good reminder for all believers no matter how long we have been on our spiritual journey
I have always enjoyed reading books by Kim Cash Tate. I purchased this when it was first released and strangely I'm just getting around to reading it. I know that the timing is perfect in my life though I wish I'd read it sooner. The book is easy to understand and doesn't come off as childish. There's a delicate balance that allows for both reflection and growth.
I recommend this to all people wherever you are in your spiritual journey.
I will recommend this book to anyone who finds themselves stuck in their relationship with God. Anyone who wants to grow in their walk with Christ and get to know Him in a deeper level. Kim offers a lot of wisdom and ways for us to Cling to Jesus through prayer and reading the word. This book is a must read for all Christians who want intimacy in their walk with Christ.
Cling was one of ny summer reads and a refreshing addition to my study time. I used Cling as a study aid due to the many scripture and bible story references. It was just what I needed to reinforce key habits for clinging to Christ such as prayer and study.
This was the most incredible book!!! I have never gotten so much out of a book before! If you are looking to deepen your relationship with God, this is the book for you!
Excellent book! Easy read! I love the practical ways she provides to cultivate a closer relationship with God. I love the scripture references as well. Very well written book!
Review from Aug 21, 2018 I have officially read this book twice and I must say that reading this a second time while doing the study guide AND watching the DVD study has intensified the book for me. I took notes in a different way and gleaned so much more out of this book. This book is a life changer. If you're not looking for a book to shake the very foundation of your belief and walk with God then don't grab this book because it does just that. It tears down the lies we believe to be true. It forces one to truly examine their heart and where they are with God. It helps to strengthen ones relationship with God through prayer and studying His Word.
Kim has such a way with words and such a beautiful spirit. She comforts the reader while the Holy Spirit convicts for correction. Kim is relate-able in the parts she gets personal and she helps remind the reader that the "heroes" of the Bible are still ordinary people that have gone through things like we have. I just love this book. I've recommended it to my family, friends, women in my church, via my social media ministry and I'm doing it as a book club read.
Phenomenal book that I'd definitely make sure to read yearly.

Are you craving a deeper, more intimate relationship with God? This is the book for you! Kim Cash Tate will encourage you in your walk with the Lord and show you how you can cling to Him. This book is filled with Scripture, biblical insights, and practical teaching.
This is a great book for a group book study. There are discussion guides and questions for each chapter, plus a DVD with video lessons for further instruction. Grab a few girlfriends for a book study, learn together, and encourage one another as you grow in your relationship with God.
Drawing on her years of studying the bible Cash-Tate shares wisdom on life and growing closer to God. She starts the book on a personal level which helps the reader get comfortable in her story and accept the journey without judgment. The reader learns how intimacy is a by-product of daily reading of the Word. It appears from the introduction the catalyst for this book started with a word, CLING. Say it out loud CLING and then think of how it makes you feel. Close, intimate and magnetic. One theme in the book I walked away with is don’t miss your moments with God. Nothing is more important in your life. I LOVED the sub-title “Choosing a Lifestyle of Intimacy with God.” CHOOSING it’s your choice, choose carefully. This book is great to read on your own or in a small group you can purchase the DVD’s. Make sure to use the enclosed study guide in the back of the book which reinforces the lessons learned chapter by chapter. Take this journey with Kim and several biblical giants of faith who faced challenges and hardships during their lifetime. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my thoughtful and honest review.
Cling: Choosing a Lifestyle of Intimacy with God by Kim Cash Tate is a book that explores how God designed our lives to cling to Him and how we were separated from Him. The best part is how the author describes our ability to cling once more to our Creator. The author uses many examples from Scripture to describe how to cling to God through any situation. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest review.
