Faces of Love #3

A Brazen Lady for the Shunned Duke

Rate this book
Can a handsome duke with a checkered past finally find true love in Lady Scarlett, a woman with a hefty dowry and a fiery personality?

Lord Edward, Duke of Kent, is everything most girls could want in a husband, handsome, titled, and with a bright future ahead of him. However, many of the ton also know that his past is checkered, with rumors of a stilted lover and an illegitimate child clouding his chance for a marriageable future with a noble girl. He has long since decided to marry only for love though, so their opinions matter little to him until he meets a beautiful woman named Scarlett, sister of the Duke of Bellingham, and is carried away by her brazen lack of propriety when it comes to society’s rules.

Lord Edward is willing to expose everything about his own past in order to marry the woman he loves, but must decide whether he’s willing to risk losing her heart when she knows the truth.

Can Duke of Kent expose his past and win the respect of the outspoken merchant’s daughter, or will the Duke of Bellingham’s own buffoon stepbrother be given the beautiful maiden’s hand in marriage instead?

AMAZING!

This book really showed how greedy the nobility were when matching even their own sisters . The story was great and I'm glad it told of Julia and Henry 's marriage and birth.

Scarlett's mother was a duchess. She had two sons and then she was widowed. She remarried a prosperous, untitled merchant. Since Scarlett's mother grew up in the ton, she was determined that Scarlett would marry a title. Scarlett's father settled a large dowry on her and her mother sent her to spend the season with her oldest half brother, the Duke of Bellingham. Since he was more than fifteen years older than Scarlett, she didn't know him at all. But she had high hopes since she adored her other half brother, Henry. Alas! He never smiled and his wife was even worse. The Duchess seemed to think she would embarrass them in public. Her brother told her he already had a match in mind. She met the supposed match at the first party and knew she would never marry this man. When she caught the eye of the Duke of Kent, her brother was enraged. Can Scarlett be forced into a marriage she doesn't want? Why isn't a Duke a good match? Maybe she has to take matters into her own hands.

Scarlett isn't about to let her brother decide whom she will marry. She has a mind of her own. The story moves along quickly and Scarlett and her Duke seem well-matched. But sometimes, when you snoop, you learn things you didn't want to hear. Has Scarlett met her "match" or is he unsuitable? Read the book and find out. You won't be sorry.

A Brazen Lady for the Shunned Duke (Faces of Love) by Jessie Bennett is a quick Regency Romance. A Novella. While, Book 3 of the "Faces of Love" series, it can be read as a stand alone. A series of sweet, clean Regency Romances.

Meet, Lord Edward, Duke of Kent and the brazen Scarlett, sister of the Duke of Bellingham. She has a lack of propriety and cares even less for society’s rules.
Edward, is drawn to her Brazen ways. However, he has secrets that could destroy their blossoming romance. Edward has a checkered past, rumors of a stilted lover, and a illegitimate child, but will a manageable, noble young lady gamble on losing her heart on a Lord with such a past? Or will Edward finally lose his heart to the brazen Scarlett?

Steady paced romance with many twists and turns, well-developed characters and a captivating storyline.
Can a fiery spirited, Scarlett, who has a hefty dowry, find her prince in Edward, an Earl with a checkered past? Will they lose their HEA to outside forces? A must read, sweet Regency Romance. I enjoyed how Ms. Bennett brings together this story, with passion and romance. I look forward to more from Ms. Bennett. A quick summer read!

Regency romance

This is a story about a rich young woman without a title who's mother wishes her to marry into a title. She sends her to live with her older brother who is a Duke. The are stepbrother and sister, hence he has a title but she doesn't. He is also 15 years older than she. The don't really get along but she makes the best of it. The story also includes her friend that her brother and sister in law do not care for. She developers a tendre for her friend's brother, the Duke of Kent. The friend, Henrietta, developers a tendre for Lord Byron who turns out to be a cad.
The story has promise but falls a bit short. It seems kind of choppy and stilted and not well developed. I think with some work it could be much better.

Lady Scarlett endures her season

Lady Scarlett is staying with her much older brother, the Duke of Bellingham, for her season. The Duke and Duchess treat her like an ignorant child and try to marry her off to a deplorable man.

At a ball, she meets the Duke of Kent, brother of her best friend, Lady Henrietta. Her brother and sister-in-law forbid her to associate with either Henrietta or Kent. Regardless she refuses to marry the man they have chosen.

If I had proofread this book, I would have made 15 corrections.

Loved the short story!!

Scarlett is spending the season with her stuffy older brother who is a Duke and his even more stuffy wife. Scarlett wants to marry for love and asks her brother not to mention how much her dowry is. She becomes fast friends with Ettie. When she is introduced to the Earl whom her brother wants her to marry she says oh, NO!! She meets a mysterious man and they have a wonderful talk. She later finds out he is Etties brother the Duke of Kent. A wonderful story with a great ending!!

I enjoyed the story of Scarlett. She came from money get she is not a snob. She is good friends with Henrietta. They are at a party during the season in which they are comparing notes of the eligible men. Scarlett meets an intriguing man when she gets air on the terrace. They talk and her interest is sparked. Come to find out later it's Henrietta's brother. A quick easy fun read.

It would have been better if not for the last 2 chapters (last chapter and the epilogue).
