Poetry Eyes is a collection of poems that explore four fields using various writing styles.
Each field is packed in one chapter. The first chapter Brilliant Beauty sheds some lights on different aspects of the art of poetry, while the second chapter The Real Challenge deals with heart matters. The third chapter They Say.I Say gathers assorted branches of wisdom, while the last chapter Sugar Pepper And Salt presents some unusual metaphors to challenge the reader's imaginations and thoughts.

My mom was calling for tea when I started it. "Ok, after a while," I told her I always disliked non-rhyming poems. However, this book made my mind travel away from my soul, the soul who always dislikes the non-rhyming poems. Almost every poem made me smile after I finished it. I didn't feel of anything, except for my fingers moving my bookmark downwards as I read. I was impressed with the theme inside. It just felt like sailing in an ocean of poetry. Even the non-rhyming poems had wonderful words. I just couldn't put that book down! This the first book in my life that I think I would always reread it over and over. Amal Saleh succeeds in choosing the words, the titles, as well as the topics that steal the readers' minds.
"Leena, quickly come and sit with us," my mom called again as I close the book. And my surprise is that the tea is still smoking hot. I didn't take me so long to finish that book because I actually couldn't even blink. What Should I Read? were the best. Even though they were all so good, but I think those stayed more.
I normally don't read much poetry because sometimes it's hard to figure out what the author is trying to say. Although, I've been trying to read more poetry lately. This book was easy to understand and I felt alot of poems I loved for one reason or another. Sometimes it's just what you can relate to and other times it maybe the time period you're in at the moment of your life.
My top favorites in the book were: Why Should I Read (Maybe because I love to read, it sort of spoke to me) Until Perfect Disgraced Who Am I?
Other favorites coming in 2nd I really liked alot were: What Makes a Poet When the Pen is Mightier Than The Sword Until Dear Friend Son of Adam Names Just Like You I'll Never Say
The other thing I loved about the book is the cover with the peacock feathers and how they look like eyes and have long eyelashes. Clever.
The only thing I am on the fence about is that I'm not sure I like how a few of the poems were set up like on pages 13, 15, 23 and 29 and maybe a few more. Not sure why the author set them up like that. They were a little bit distracting to me this way.
Overall, I found this poetry book one of the best I've read in a long time.
I won this book from GoodReads. I'm about halfway through and am really enjoying it. I've always loved poetry, but some poets you really have to slog through to get what is being said, if you can ever understand. Amal Saleh's book is deep, it makes you think, but is easily understandable. So far my favorite poems are "Why Should I Read" and "Dear Friend." This is one book I will go back and reread my favorites over and over. Thank you Amal.
Poetry Eyes was superb in the way you formatted and the layout was unique. I really liked "Poetry Eyes" and "Perfect" and "If I Was A Peacock Feather". Simply, I liked the whole book! It was put together creatively, and I would recomend this book to everyone who likes poetry, it is a must read! And, this is a book I will pick up and read over and over again. I was very happy to have won this book on Goodreads First Reads. very sincerely, Janet
I really loved the poems in this book, ....Huge as mountains raise me and drop me.. the moment I think I am hitting the ground I find myself touching a cloud.
The passage above from "Among the Waves perfectly describes how I feel about this book.
It is simply beautiful and I enjoyed it very much.
Another free read win from Goodreads! A pleasant little volume of poetry about poetry. Liked enough that upon finishing it I passed it on to one of my bffs who is also a poet.
