#12 in the Carrier series. Part of a sub-plot story arc related to "Tombstone" Magruder's search for his father, shot down and MIA in the Vietnam War - distracting to the series theme of carrier based air power.
Carrier series - In North Vietnam, the Communist government is hiding something, and they're doing everything possible to protect it. But when the Communists launch a missile at an American plane, Admiral Wayne and the "USS Jefferson" plan a counterattack. And that means that they might be facing a long and bloody new war. Meanwhile, Admiral "Tombstone" Magruder has just set foot in the Vietnam jungle to search for his father who may still be alive. But there's no way to warn him that he might be stepping right into what could be the Vietnam War all over again.

An engaging story, full of twists and turns, and a suspenseful read. The author has clearly done his homework and researched the details of this book carefully.
In the end, it is fairly predictable with even its plot turns lead to the results a reader would expect.
I enjoyed it, it was great escapism, but not particularly memorable of impressive.

It was and adventure book that involved the Navy. Easy and fun to read.
