Your Press Release Is Breaking My Heart: A Totally Unconventional Guide To Selling Your Story In The Media

Rate this book
With 15 years’ experience as a national newspaper journalist and editor, Janet Murray knows a thing or two about what makes a great media story - and what doesn’t. And it breaks her heart to see people like you wasting time and money on pointless PR tactics.

Your Press Release Is Breaking My Heart is a practical guide to selling your story in the media - without hiring a PR company or even writing a single press release.

You’ll learn how

- Develop compelling ideas for media stories
- Write email pitches journalists can’t say ‘no’ to
- Get journalists to come to YOU for help with stories

When you’re doing it right, getting featured in the press can be as easy as firing off an email or making a quick phone call. Put these strategies into practice, and not only will you get major media coverage for your business or brand, you’ll never see PR in the same way again.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

'Janet Murray tells you what you need to know - not just what you want to hear. Essential Reading.' Adam Cumiskey, assistant editor, BBC Radio 4's Today Programme.

"Finally, someone who understands that great PR is not about self-promotion; it's about helping journalists create stories people want to hear."

Harriet Minter, Women in Leadership editor, the Guardian

Great book for people wanting to get a.good understanding of how publoc relations and media pitching work. The author works in the UL so a few terms are different but I love her tell it like it is style. She reminds readers that PR is about giving journalists what they need, not only getting what you want.

Highly practical, to the point. Clear about what to do as well as what not to bother doing. No fluff here. Not sure what's so unconventional about it though!
