Goodnight Kisses:A Way to Redemption Prequel

Rate this book
Fearing she carries her mother’s curse of marriage, nineteen year-old Eleanor Mackenna swore never to vow herself into matrimonial bondage. Nuptials aren’t needed where true love is concerned. A concept she is sure a man like McCrea Coldiron would agree with. The town gossip has him pegged as a heartbreaker, but Eleanor knows a different side to McCrea. Years of loving him without seeing his affection returned has made her desperate enough to ask him for advice on seducing a man.

McCrea isn’t proud of his reputation as a brawler and a womanizer. As a teenager the rumors were funny, now they may cost him the land he has worked so hard for. Unconvinced his grandson is responsible enough to inherit his portion of the family land, his granddad lays down a new ultimatum.

McCrea had noticed Eleanor Mackenna was all grown up. A beautiful face and curves in all the right places made that fact hard to miss. The chatty little girl from next door has been chasing his spurs for years and ignoring her was easy to do until his granddad’s ridiculous notion of taking her for a wife makes him consider giving her a fist class lesson in seduction.

McCrea’s promise of more than goodnight kisses leaves Eleanor blindsided by his cold proposal and heartbroken by the truth that his tender lovemaking was a plan to lure her into marriage.

Expectations - we all have them. Events that happen from birth shape us into the adults we become and as we grow, the world also plays into our decisions that we make - in particular, love and marriage. At one time in my life, you would have called me a bleeding heart romantic but then I learned that not everyone has a heart that feels like mine. I absolutely adored this book from start to finish! I think we all would like to believe that once we've been hurt by love, a business arrangement could be possible between two adults but when it comes to matters of the heart, things aren't so easy. The characters are well-written and developed into people that you can find right in your own life. The conversations and situations are also very believable - fantastic for this genre! This is one that you'll love to curl up with in the afternoon and realize that you're making your family eat cereal for supper because you couldn't put it down!

Eleanor Mackenna is 19 years and has for years a crush on McCrea Coldiron but he has no interest in the friend of his younger sister. Till one day when he opens his eyes and realize that she is grown up and beautiful. His grandfather tells him that McCrea only can have the land he was promised, if he shows what he is worth and get married. McCrea furious makes a plan to get Eleanor to marry him for a year and then go separate ways and she get payed. Eleanor if very hurt and McCrea doesn't understand it was a good deal right? One that would help them both. Eleanor goes away not looking back and off to college.

The book is well written, the characters strong, McCrea only sees business which can cost him the sweetest girl. You will understand more about it when you read about his family, although his brother is a sweety. I hope there will be a follow up! I received an ARC in exchange of my honest review.

This was a quick read as it is a novella and only 29000 words. You are quickly drawn into the story and don’t want to put it down until the end.
Eleanor also known as El has had a crush on her neighbor McCrea for as long as she could remember. She finally gets up the nerve to make a move on him.
Will her night with him be all that she has dreamed of? Or will it end in disaster?
I found myself yelling (internally) at McCrea so many times. He tries to act standoffish, acting like he is not the marrying kind. There are soft sweet sides to him though.
This book is part of a series and it ends with you practically screaming, begging for more immediately. I can’t wait to read the next installment and see what the future holds for these two.

WAY TOO SHORT!!! Waaaaa...... Just as I was enjoying this story I came to the end of it. I will have to get the rest of the series and hope for much longer reads. Yes, that was my only complaint. The characters are well defined and introduced clearly. The settings are painted with a much larger brush, but we don't need so much data on those. The author's ability to get into each others head is always a plus. There's romance in here for sure, but it's not as heavy handed as I've read from other books. I laughed quite a lot in here and was very sad when I hit the last page and realized it was over. Time to collect the rest and see how this story unfolds.

Wow loved it Eleanor who can't get her childhood crush McCrea to even to notice her, takes an chance before she heads off for college. But McCrea was given an ultimatum and took the opportunity to try with El now that she was all grown up. Things happen and wow things went so wrong. Will McCrea do the right thing or let Eleanor walk away. Can't wait to read more.

I had low expectations going into this book because I thought it would be another cheesy, predictable romance story. A few pages in I realized what a mistake I had made in my assumptions about this book because I was already fully absorbed into the story. I flew through the pages and I just had to know what was going to happen next for Eleanor and the rest of the characters. I could feel all the emotions the characters were feeling while reading. When Eleanor wanted more of McCrea, I wanted more also. I really enjoyed El’s personality and could feel her passion and excitement. I related with her drive to get what she wanted. I wanted to yell at both El and McCrea when they wouldn't just say what they were thinking to each other. All of this is a testament to this authors writing. It's a true gift to make a reader feel the emotions of a character and I went through all the emotions with them. I can't wait for the rest of this book to come out. I definitely will be recommending this to all my friends because it was too good not to share!
