A Different Bible study experience! This guided journey through Scripture is for anyone Join beloved author Sally Clarkson and her son Joel in this 12-session exploration of misfits in the Bible―and the surprising ways they became heroes of the faith. God has always taken ordinary people―like Peter, Ruth, Job, and Elijah―and used them to accomplish great things. You’ll learn how God can take your own weaknesses and turn them into strengths as he draws you outside the safety of yourself and into the glorious whirlwind of His plan for your life.
(A companion resource to The Story of an Outside-the-Box Kid and the Mom Who Loved Him, by Sally and Nathan Clarkson.)
From working on college campuses, to sharing the Gospel behind the Iron Curtain as a missionary, traveling around the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia to speak on discipleship, Sally Clarkson has tenaciously sought after God's kingdom, and has used her ministry to encourage others to do the same. From her best-selling books such as Own Your Life, Desperate (with Sarah Mae), and her latest, The Lifegiving Home, Sally has shared from her heart and home about the value of motherhood and the potential for home to cultivate life, love, and faith. In 1995, She and her husband Clay founded Whole Heart Ministries, which has encouraged thousands of families around the world in discipling their children
This book offers hope to those that just feel like they are a little different than others. Really, that is all of us, but for some, they feel it more profoundly. This book uses anecdotal stories and experiences to bring hope and encouragement to those that struggle with finding your direction in life, friendship issues, and general daily perspective. This is for the parent and the child and offers encouragement and wisdom to both.
Each chapter to includes a quote, a brief definition of a word to focus on, a passage of scripture, an interpretive retelling of a key scene from the passage, and a section with additional verses and discussion questions.
I deeply appreciated that, though we walked through the stories of several Bible heroes, the focus was to “embrace Jesus’ call to be like Him.”
If a Mom Heart group wants to do a topical Bible Study, this guide is a great resource. Each chapter covers a different misfit from the Bible. There are scripture passages and questions for discussion included.
I have enjoyed this study guide about a handful of Bible misfits. This book is going in my stack of devotional/Bible study guides for my children to read on their own in a couple of years.
