Style may be eternal, style books not so much.

Goes on some weird but worthwhile tangents such as a tiny section on repairing your clothes, that feels more 2023. Then there was the section on 10 x dresses she's made for red carpet events. Extra star for those bits.

The star-something chapter titles were largely meaningless and got a bit tedious a few chapters in.

I picked up this book from the library after reading an enthusiastic review by Lady Smaggle, and it was an excellent fashion tome. It's written by an Australian, and has great recommendations for Australian brands which is fun. It's geared towards formal wear, but there's still plenty of principles you can apply to everyday clothing. I found some of the principles a bit difficult to apply - for example, trying to emphasise my one killer feature (to use the language of the book) and cover up my unfortunate features sometimes turned into contradictory advice. Still, I don't think it's possible to write a book of fashion advice that applies to all body shapes everywhere, and I very much liked the style and tone of this one.

This book is awesome! The author is a stylist and works in television so she has a really unique and learned perspective of fashion. It is the best style book I have ever read. Her advice is based on formulas not typical stereotypes which is perfect for people who never fit the standard body shapes in magazine articles. And it's chock full of awesome tips on how to dress for all occasions and how to flatter your own unique figure. I highly recommend it to anyone. Although don't sell or swap your copy of the book - this one's a keeper and the advice is relevant for people of all ages so you will always be able to refer back to it the future!

I loved this book. There was so much information that I immediately headed to the wardrobe and cleaned it out to start over. And now I know what to buy everytime I leave home. Can't rave enough!! :-)
