(1)romance author:
Adeline Catherine was born and raised in Grants Pass, Oregon, USA. She always yearned to be a writer like her mother. The morning that one of her professors asked if she could use samples of Catherine’s creative writing on an overhead projector to teach was a dream come true. In 1988, she sold her first book to Harlequin Intrigue and went on to write three more before she tried her hand at a single-title historical romance. Nine books later, she did her first single-title contemporary.

Catherine married Sidney D. Anderson, an industrial electrician and entrepreneur. They had two sons, Sidney D. Jr. and John G. In 2001 she and her husband purchased a central Oregon home located on a ridge with incredible mountain views and surrounded by forestland honeycombed with trails. It was her dream home, a wonderland in the winter and beyond beautiful in the summer. She named it Cinnamon Ridge after the huge ponderosa pines on the property, which sport bark the color of cinnamon.

Sadly, Catherine lost her husband to a long-term illness in 2014. She has kept Cinnamon Ridge as her primary residence but divides her time between there and her son John's farm, where she has the support of her loved ones and can enjoy his horses, cows, and raise her own chickens.

Catherine loves animals and birds, both wild and domestic. She presently has two Australian shepherds, six cats, and a very old canary. She is very family oriented as well. Her older son has lived in Japan, Australia, and now resides in New Zealand. Catherine and her stateside family will celebrate Christmas on the north island with Sidney, his wife Mary, and their two sons, Liam and Jonas.

After her grandmother died, Breanna Morgan inherited her grandmother's cabin and ownership of an old mine that had been in the family for generations. Of course, no one knows where the mine is actually located. As soon as she moves in, her cousin appears and demands that she leave. Then her new neighbor, Tyler Ross, shows up to tell her that it is dangerous for her to be out here alone. During the night, Breanna's dog warns her that there is someone outside of the cabin. Breanna refuses to abandon the claim...even when the situation turns deadly.

I believe this was Catherine Anderson's first published book. You can certainly tell that her writing has improved over the years. The storyline was ok, but the too-stupid-to-live heroine made my eyes roll. She makes up excuses about why there are men roaming her property at night. When someone tries to poison her dog, she just locks her dog in the cabin and forgets about it. While she is bathing in a cold river, a masked man threatens her with a scythe if she leaves the water. So she stays in the river for hours until hypothermia sets in. Still, Breanna won't leave the property. Just as ridiculous is her neighbor Tyler who knows what is going on and will not explain it to her. He thinks she should just blindly follow his commands with no explanation. This was definitely a 1980's book. My rating: 2 Stars.

Brenna Morgan inherited her grandmother's home and land, which included and old gold mine. When she moves back into her inherited home, her cousin warns her to leave. Her new neighbor Tyler Ross also warns her of the dangers of remaining there alone. The warning turn to threats, and the threats turn to violence and still she doesn't leave. An interesting story Brenna is always putting herself in the wrong place. She doesn't think before she acts. Kind of stupid of her but it's just a story. I read it to the happy ever after end.

I love Catherine Anderson and I wanted to read her older novels. I have to remind myself that I just have a hard time with romances written before the mid 90s! I go through this with a lot of authors that have current novels that I love. The story is well written, but female characters have changed so much over the past 30 years that I find myself looking at leads in the 80s novels with a current eye. And then sadly those women get on my nerves!

I love Catherine Anderson's books, and this one is no different! It's a short story that you can read in an afternoon on a snowy day with a roaring fire and a cup of hot chocolate.

More thriller than romance, this isn’t even close to Anderson’s later and better works. The relationship between Tyler and Breana came across as more like friendship than love, didn’t really get the chemistry. There was an allusion to intimacy but nothing concrete. A light summer read if you need it.
Breanna seems to be a real 80s girl. She can work like a man, has a fiercely (stupidly) independent streak but will follow her man to the ends of the earth when he declares his love. She wasn’t unlikeable, just not terribly bright at times. Poor girl was also forever getting scratched and bruised chasing prowlers and ghosts. This kind of reminded me of the blue and yellow cover Nancy Drew books. It was tame, without a real mystery and had a good ol’ male lead. Biggest gripe: who puts characters named Jack Jones, Jackson and Jacobsen in one book without any tongue in cheek references?

This romantic suspense novel had many interesting twists and turns. It centered on a government investigation into a counterfiting ring that was hidden in a mine beneath a barn on the Van Patten mine claim. Breanna Morgan came back to the claim to fulfill her grandmother's wish that a family member maintain the claim. Little did she know that she was under surveillance and one of the watchers would become intimately involved with her ignoring his boss's reasonable doubt insistencs. I enjoyed this story very much and would recommend it.

This was a very easy read. I have read nearly all of CA books available. When I find one I haven't read I get excited. My 9 year old even looks out for them at book stores. I truly enjoy Catherine Anderson Books. There were so many characters brought in that I had to keep going back to the descriptions in front of book to remind myself who was who. I did feel that lead character Breanna Morgan would have a little more common sense comming from a family that had a stake in a gold mine. Over all very good story. I would recommend to friend.

This book was part of a two book classic stories released several years ago. You can tell the level of writing with this book compared to what Catherine Anderson writes today. This is a story about Brenna Morgan who has come to live in her Grandmother's cabin and photographer Tyler Ross. There is some suspense in the story but a lot of the happenings were just not believable. It was a nice read and by the end, the story did get better.

This is an early Catherine Anderson book. Nice plot, exciting story. You can definitely tell she has developed as a writer over time. This story doesn't have quite as much emotional depth as some of her more recent works, but it's still worth reading.

Did not touch my heart in any way. I read it because I was bored and the subway ride was long. I finished it because I started it. This is my first book by C.A but I still have hope for her because I really loved the writing style. Wish she dealt with more emotional business.
