WHO DO YOU TRUST?

No one would meet Mark Delaney's eyes. After a devastating brush with death, he had changed dramatically—and done so with one purpose in mind. He had a killer to catch and could no longer trust his own family. But one woman dared to look beyond his facade. April Cartwright, newly hired by the Delaneys, sought to know the real Mark. But the loner knew he had to resist. A murderer was in their midst, and if Mark succumbed to the sweet promises April offered, his mission would put them both in deadly peril. And he would not risk her innocent life—even at the cost of his own!

Mark Delaney is the middle brother, he has always felt lonely, his father always made him feel that he was only good with animals. His family is not touchy-feely and he barely knows his three other siblings. The social director of their family's dude ranch calls him saying that something wrong is going on, on the ranch but before she can confess all, Mark is attacked and she is dead. She had told him not to trust anyone so after he awaken he pretends to be brain-damaged.

Then April arrives at the ranch, with her son in tow for the new position of the social director. His elder brother tells her to leave, since their father's death the ranch's future is uncertain(all four siblings have to work there together and they are not sure they want to), but Mark is kind to her and her son Brian. April is in despair, twice the men she loved have betrayed her and put her in precarious position financially, first her ex-husband and then her father, after his death.

She just wants a fresh start. She starts spending time with him since Brian(her son) seems to like him, then one day he kisses her, the next days she tells him not to, that is when he tells her that he is pretending to be slow.

I liked the book, didn't love it but it was not a bad read. Mark is scared of being a father and a husband since he didn't have the best example and his ex-fiancee made him feel the same but he does get over it.
