If you can read this compendium of Insects and Arthropoda without getting queasy, then you are indeed an armchair entomologist! I appreciate the running theme throughout the book that most insects are beneficial and deserve our respect if not our efforts to cut back on pesticides and habitat destruction. One critter comes to mind after reading about hundreds, and that’s the Argentine Ant. It exists in super colonies that span hundreds of miles with billions of billions of individuals and the colonies span continents: Asia, Europe and North America...all related! My arthropod? Jumping Spiders if course! Cute and Comical with a hint of intelligence.
I thought this was a great read, and it's a quick reference I will enjoy having on hand. I'm no expert, and I'm sure there are far more detailed guides out there, but for a mom and her kids who are into gardening and nature, it's perfect!
