Donald W. Winnicott (1896-1971), médecin, pédiatre et psychanalyste, occupe une place unique dans la psychanalyse. Premier recueil d'articles de D. W. Wiiinicott publié en français en 1969, De la pédiatrie à la psychanalyse préfacé par le Dr Henri Sauguet, demeure l'ouvrage de base pour qui s'intéresse à son oeuvre. Ces trente textes de 1935 à 1963, constituent un ensemble privilégié pour suivre Winnicott : vaste domaine d'exploration de la relation précoce mère enfant mais aussi des cas limite, antisociaux, psychotiques, pour lesquels la cure aménagée à cet effet par Winnicott rend possible la reconstruction de la période d'extrême dépendance infantile. Son indépendance d'esprit, la variété technique et conceptuelle de ses travaux, élargissant la voie frayée par Freud et approfondie par Mélanie Klein, apparaissent tout au long de ce livre essentiel.

Another classic by Winnicott. This is chock-full of articles that therapists study when they go through post-graduate training programs. Technical, not particularly reader-friendly but, when they are good they are very very good. When they are great, which is not rare, they are fantastic.

An excellent introduction not only to Winnicott's psychoanalytic thought, but a tour of the evolution of it from the special psychological problems he originally faced as a paediatrician, finding in Kleinian object relations theory solutions to those problems. A bit dry at times, but ultimately most informative.
