They say without the support from his family, a man is lost. My parents have been pushing me to make the right choices throughout my life. Instead of taking their advice, I’ve gone against their guidance more times than I care to admit. Now I’ve done the unthinkable; something they would never approve of. I'm involved with a beautiful, compassionate woman, but I've also been in a complicated relationship with her best friend on and off for several years. I don’t know how it’s possible, but I have deep feelings for both. Now one of them is pregnant. My choice should be easy, but nothing ever is, at least not in my experience. I want to reach out to my family, but I already know they'd tell me I screwed up, just like in the past. I have to figure this out. A choice will be made. Hearts will be broken, and one of them will most definitely be mine.
I'm Joshua Healy, and this is exactly what I deserve.
Jennifer Foor is an award winning Contemporary Romance Author. She's best known for the Mitchell Family Series, which includes ten books. With over forty published titles, there is a story for every interest. Her books can be found on most platforms and in paperback. She is married with two children and spends most of her time behind a keyboard, creating and writing stories straight from her heart.
Joshua is a cheater and a liar. He was not "forced" by Liv, that's a complete lie. She walked out and he followed her, he grabbed her and wanted to sleep with her which is what he proceeded to do. So stop blaming the OW when it was the dickhead hero who couldn't control himself.
I’m not even sure how to rate this. The story is an off the rails soapy cheating story wrapped in a big ‘ol inconsistent plot hole…YET… I couldn’t look away. So before I go spoiler-y, here’s my best advice.
🌠 If you’re looking for a well-written angsty read with lots of feels… abort
🍷 If you’re looking for a whacky read to enjoy with alcohol… pour generously
To be fair this is a long family series, and I read this as a standalone, so I might have been more patient had I had an established relationship with this nutter family. I’m assuming this is why so many readers were Team Josh.
*****SPOILERS AHEAD******
IMO, the biggest problem with the book is the number of illogical inconsistencies. The blurb sets up the plot, I think it pretty obvious that he cheats or is sampling two girls. In a nutshell, Joshua has been OBSESSED with his BFF’s little sister Liv for years. It sounds like (this might’ve been a subplot in the other books) they had an on the DL relationship that Liv might’ve taken advantage/strung him along until moving to NYC.
The book opens with Tamsyn finding out her BF/fiancé cheated and knocked up her roommate. He wants to work through it, but Tamsyn is firm that this is an unforgivable offense. (remember this)
“Tam, please. It’s not what you think. It was an accident. We were drunk. I thought she was you, and everything afterwards just kind of happened. I couldn’t stop. It was just sex. She meant nothing to me.”
Josh and Tam meet and decide the best way of getting over someone is by getting under another and their relationship starts. This eats up the first ½ of the book and was almost comical... and immature.
The game is still on, but we’ve ditched our paddles. We’re rolling around on the floor, our clothes were coming off quickly and scattering around the clean space.
“Do you mind?” My mom spins so her back is turned to us. “Oh god! I didn’t know you had company. I just wanted you to turn the volume down on your game.”
Then…
Tamsyn locates my T-shirt and throws it on patting her hair down and she tries to regain composure. With my pants unzipped, belt hanging, and no shirt on…
“Mom, you can turnaround.” “This is Tamsyn. Tamsyn, this is my mom, Amy.”
The problem is we have two young people living with their parents (her a college dorm) playing video games but acting like it’s a serious relationship. They talk about love and marriage... he asks her to move in with him... which is his parents' house. It’s all so dramatic.
The black moment happens after Joshua gets wasted with his parents and falls asleep on the couch when Liv just happens to come around and get naked. There’s A LOT of discussion as to whether or not this was cheating, but I think he cheated. Yes, he was drunk, but he chased her down to the barn, had a conversation, and sex. I think the author tried to soften the blow by having him wake up the next morning thinking it was a dream, but that was ridiculous.
I say this all the time, if you’re going to make the mess… then clean it up. Don’t try to manipulate the facts to soften the blow. It didn’t make sense, Josh was struggling with his feelings for Liv until he has sex with her, then he’s TOTALLY committed to Tamsyn… and Liv took advantage. There’s no explanation for his sudden change of mind.
“What the fuck did you do to me?” “I got the truth. Don’t be mad. We can talk about it later today.” “The hell we will. Whatever you think happened between us, didn’t. Do you catch my drift? Are you hearing me clearly, Liv? It never happened. Furthermore, I want you to stay the hell away from me and Tamsyn.” “But.” “No. Shut the fuck up and listen for once. We are nothing. I have a girlfriend that I adore. Last night was a big fucking mistake. I won’t let you take her from me. Please, if you ever gave a shit about me, you’ll let me be happy.”
And… the biggest inconsistency of the book is that Tamsyn forgives Josh for drunkenly cheating and knocking up another woman. The EXACT same situation, where she’d only dated Josh a few months, but had dated her BF for years.
Bottom Line- Entertaining in bad telenovela sort of way, but not relatable at all. Zero feels for me… no real heart to heart conversations. OTT whacky ending with an epilogue 6 years out. I will say Joshua’s reaction to knocking the OW up was opposite of anything I’ve ever read.
I liked the story, and felt it drew me in. My main issue with it that didnt allow me to rate it higher was I felt the plot didnt make a lot of sense in the end. Tamsyn was in love with a guy she saw everything with who cheated on her with a girl he didnt care about, and he got that girl pregnant. Josh was in love with a girl who he compared every girl too, and literally said Tamsyn not being her might be the thing that made it not work. So then Josh cheats on Tamsyn as well, gets the girl pregnant BUT he actually loves the girl he cheated with. I get he was drunk or whatever but his inner thoughts during the sex scene were still filled with emotion and love for Liv. He even said something about her he cant resist, and even being drunk something made him go through with it. So my issue then becomes, if you are going to take a cheater back, might as well take the one back that didnt love the girl he cheated with and compared you too??? I just dont understand the writing choice of having the hero do the EXACT same thing down to the pregnancy that the guy who broke her heart did at the beginning of book, and who she couldnt forgive, it makes no sense.
Also, in a cheating book I require a serious discussion of safety. This hero was going around having unprotected sex with her after he had it with someone else, that's gross, and any woman would question it in a real way, not in passing. That's playing with the health of someone you claim to love, and deserves weight in the story when it comes to cheating.
Last thing, this book did the classic turn the other woman evil to make the hero look better. Nothing in Livs characterization made sense to turn her into an attempted murderer in my view. It was just a way to demonize so Josh looked better. The murky way the cheating scene was written annoyed me, it's like the author wanted you to think it was almost like a rape but not fully go there, so I honestly have no idea how to interpret Josh cheating. I personally feel he would have slept with her sober bc it had been made clear he could not resist her at all so eh
Reread June 2023 I'm adding .5 Stars and rounding up (original rating 4 Stars). There was a FB post about this book. The author of the post was ranting about how Joshua didn't grovel at all and how awful this book was. We didn't read the same book. I'm extremely demanding and picky when it comes to the grovel, and Josh got an A+ from me. He passed with flying colors. If only others could grovel half as good as him. (This was a buddy read with my friend Cindy. It was fun angsting together.)
”This ain’t the olden days. I’m not obligated to be with you for the sake of our child. Get your head out of your ass and wake up. I don’t owe you shit!”
A-fucking-men! Finally, a man who understand facts. LOL I want to send this memo to all the romance heroes who marry the OW only because she's pregnant. My pet peeve!
”Tamsyn, I loved you yesterday. I loved you today, and I still will tomorrow...Never forget that it was your love that made me the man I am today. You were never the consolation. You are my everything. Forever yours, Joshua Healy”
"You were never the consolation. You are my everything." And that's all a girl wants ;) ❤️
Original Review: Sometimes I'm in the mood for some drama llama (okay, maybe always) and this hit the spot. Based on the reviews, I thought this was going to be real train-wrecky, but it was not, not compared to what I've read in other books. Even the (one-time) cheating scenario wasn't as damning as some reviewers made it out to be. At this point, I'm a pro at reading cheating romance books. 😆 Yes, it was angsty and the cheating painful to read but I loved Joshua's reaction afterwards. His harsh rejection of his ex, what he tells her and how he treats her, was incredibly comforting to me 😈 It truly did save him from my wrath. And last but not least, I loved how he groveled at Tamsyn's feet. Good boy. Second chance—approved ✔️
The cherry on top? The evil OW got her due, dramatically and fantastically so. Perfecto. 😈
I missed the Mitchel Family. There was a time a long time ago that I was obsessed with Jennifer Foor's angsty stories. I'm not sure why I moved on, but I'm slowly making my way back to her books.

I'm in the minority. This one was just soapy drama and angst. I didn't feel any connection to the story or characters. This one had many elements/tropes I usually like - but it read like a checklist of tropes strung together - some to create drama or angst. I skimmed quite a bit because I got bored. 2-stars.
4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Liked it! =================== ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥Rereading in 2023♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Our hero becomes a manwhore because he's waiting for his first love to come back and for her to decide if she loves him. He has loved her since he was a teenager and has never been in a serious relationship because he waits for her. But he receives the news that she is engaged and is going to marry, so he decides to give a chance in a relationship with our heroine. Our heroine is a mess because her ex cheated on her with her dorm roommate. They both seek comfort in each other and discover many things in common and his family welcomes her with open arms. His ex finds out and comes back to try to get him back. She doesn't conform that he moves on. And she prioritizes breaking up the new couple in every way, including having sex with our hero while he's totally intoxicated. Rape IMO. Then the drama begins.

Very good story and well worth reading the book. You don't have to read the previous books to understand the story. Recommend!
This is in the blurb. It put me completely off. And I said I was not going to look for her books anymore, but I really liked her books like 2, 3 years ago and I was hoping sh would give up in the triangle/cheating plot. NOPE. So this is a note to myself to never look for this author's books again. This small sentence in the blurb made me sick.
"I'm involved with a beautiful, compassionate woman, but I've also been in a complicated relationship with her best friend on and off for several years. I don’t know how it’s possible, but I have deep feelings for both. "
3.5 stars. Oh my goodness what a trainwreck 😂😂. This was nuts, but highly entertaining. It's not safe. So back away. He cheats on his current gf with his crazy ex. He played it that he was taken advantage of, and yes to an extent. And I've seen reviews that agree with that stance, but I'm leaning the other way a bit. First of all. I know he was drunk, and Liv was trying to ride the Josh train, but his POV was quite coherent. He said he didn't know what he was doing. Yes, he did. Sorry. He may have been drunk, but he was holding her against the wall and f****** her senseless while also telling her he still cared for her. So that was weak that the author tried to play it off later. Not going to work for me. Josh was manwhore, and immature to boot. Why these two ladies are hung up on him I have no idea 🤦. Liv the ex was ridiculous and I'm glad we got her POV. Tam was a contradiction. She's unable to take her first cheating bf back, but Josh was the exception? Hmmm.. weak once again. Overall it was ridiculous, but kept my attention from beginning til end. Especially the end. Just wow.

Oh Joshua you manwhore... who came tumbling down fast! I loved that he fell hard for our h. She was everything a h should be. She stood up to the OW and she actually left the H when she found out he had cheated on her! This was such a good read for me b/c FINALLY a book that the crazy OW who tried to cause so much trouble got what she had coming to her! YES, YES, YES!!!!

I don't know if I have ever read a book where the hero was such a disappointment. He is lazy, unmotivated, womanizer, selfish, and lets his family baby him. What Tamsyn saw in him was only superficial. The minute he chose to cheat, regardless if he was drunk or not, he made his choice. He then turned into a bitch by keeping it a secret and still had unprotected sex with both of them. He never gave Tamsyn a choice on if she wanted to play with her health. I really had such high hopes for Tamsyn. After she found out what a complete loser Josh was she still couldn't let him go. She held out for a minute but she basically took him back after everything. The Healy children are the worst and nothing to be proud of. I had hoped that the author would have made them more likable but they really weren't.
From the blurb I know what to expect: 'I'm involved with a beautiful, compassionate woman' - heroine 1
'I've also been in a complicated relationship with her best friend on and off for several years' -heroine 2 - aka ow - or maybe heroine 1 - ugh - he can't say cos:
'I have deep feelings for both'
🤷♀️Maybe I'll give it a go when I need OW drama lama where the H knowingly has unprotected sex with his ex "it's complicated" andshefallspregnantandyetallendswell
I Hate Cheating. Alcohol is NO excuse. And what resulted from the cheating?!?!! After what already happened to Tam! Omg! We get his thoughts and he knew what he was doing. Ugh. Anyway, a HEA for the whole family and the series.

The writing kept this from 3 stars. I actually liked most of the angst, it was just missing something.
H gets shitfaced with his parents, they go to bed and the evil OW sneaks in and takes advantage of H’s condition and confusion. H/OW have angry unprotected sex and she ends up pregnant. But don’t worry, OW gets hers :)
I love this series, a big family with a great family presence and i've got to see each one of them fall in love, jennifer Foor has written a brilliant and recommended series with swoon worthy men and great characters.
A bit about the plot: Tamsyn goes to college and works at her dads car dealership she finds out her boyfriend of three years has slept with her roommate and the relationship is over despite his begging her and saying it was a mistake.
Josh Healy never got over his childhood love Liv, so hearing she has got engaged sends him into a depression, Liv has used him for years, kept him on a leash, she was with other people but kept his hopes up, their relationship was nothing more than sex but Josh always hoped she would come to her senses and want more from him than the occasional one night stand. Josh refused to settle down, always hoping for Liv so he became a serial one night stand guy with a reputation.
Josh with his swagger asks Tamsyn out on a date when he meets her at the car dealership the timing for both of them is wrong but so right as they both console one another and a one night stand turns into more.
Both Josh and Tamsyn are a great couple the chemistry is special they become best friends as well as lovers and manwhore Josh turns into a swoon worthy and sweet talking guy.
You can picture there forever until Liv returns home, she hears Joshua has a girlfriend and her plotting and selfish ways come into play and things seriously gets heated.
The angst the drama I was seriously on edge, turning the pages frantically wanting the good bits to come, I felt each characters heartbreak, I also felt the love the passion and the joys.
I love Josh and tamsyn so much my emotions were all over the place I felt what each of the characters were going through and that Jennifer foor is good writing.
A great series, Joshua healy is told in dual pov's, a brilliant book that does lead to a hea but takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions on the journey there.
Josh: This is what love feels like. When it's great i feel high, and when it's bad, Im drowning without a life vest to save me.
I don't understand the ire towards this Hero or scenario. Unless one subscribes to the one size fits all, once a cheater always a cheater no matter the circumstance ! Unless one also subscribes to a thought pattern where understanding and forgiveness are as rare as perfection, man hate is the name of the game and testosterone is synonymous with betrayal! The true evil here IMO was the ow,who tormented ,tortured and toyed with Josh over the years until he was a shadow of a man and one who donned a mask of player in order to survive.Until Tamsyn, that is.... Joshua was immediately attracted, feeling an unidentifiable pull towards her which he swiftly bundled into the usual games. With their first experience, he behaved out of character in a positive fashion ,wishing to aide her in a time of heartbreak... but yes concurrently craving her physically. Soon Josh finds himself in the same boat, however soon identifying the healing balm may be in reach in Tamsyn. .I fell in love with their banter ,their connection.I was heartbroken when he fell prey to the evil, narcissistic machinations of Liv.Weakened by old patterns and much alcohol he gave in too the multi sourced pressure campaign in his soused state! This REVIEW is in process...back soon to complete! Okay,onward.... As for the complaints about the dearth of the Grove!...WHAT THE ACTUAL? Dude couldn't be any more tortured or remorseful! They are fractured for a time ,both miserable until ow performs a shocking act that is revelatory for all.Wonderful epilogue exhibits fab, deserved,HEA! Shout out to my friend\reading buddy Lydia for making the angst bearable and the experience EXTRA!😘

This was pretty good for the 10th in a series. The H is your standard glib, bragging womanizer (the OW messed with his head and now he keeps things simple and whore-y) and the h is the sweet woman who causes him to rethink that.
There is cheating. In addition to the act, the H had unresolved feelings for the OW, and that's what the h was rightly concerned about. However, the physical act was not consensual, although the H blames himself because he has these conflicted feelings. The h had every right to be concerned and betrayed about the feelings, but once the H wraps his head around it, it's pretty clear he was really traumatized by the OW and that the pull he feels isn't love or lust, it's the need to deal with what happened. (He's not the most self-aware crayon in the box.)

H is in love with bitchy ow for years, but it's unrequited. H moves on with h. OW gets cheated on so she decides to come back to the nicer H. he tries to stay away from her, but she catches him drunk and vulnerable so they have sex.
then things start to go batshit
OW gets pregnant. H doesn't tell h about any of this for a while (the cheating, the baby, the ow issues)--she eventually finds out though and dumps him H yells at OW saying he will never love her bc he loves h which h overhears bc she's come out to talk to H. OW sees h as she is driving H's and is so batshit that the OW tries to run down h with her car OW loses baby and we find out that h is 2 months pregaant

I was given an ARC for a honest review, here it goes:
I Started reading J4 with The Mitchell Series and fell in love. I remember sending her messages just raving about the books. This entire family The Mitchell's and Healy's have stolen my heart and never let it go. They all are character's that are truly real, well developed, and funny as well! I love reading their antics. And let's not forget how J4 puts the sizzle in the bedroom, barn, cars, shell on any available surface. She has such great talent, I follow all of her releases.
Let me just say that Joshua is one of my favorites of all the Mitchell Healey children. He is so beautifully damaged because he has loved the wrong woman all of his life. I can relate to this on a personal level, because I wasted years of my life the same way. Settling for what they gave instead of what I was worth. Josh did the same thing from adolescence to manhood. To fill the void Liv left he had distractions.
Enter Tamsyn, beautiful and smart. She Has a plan for what she wants in life and she is working her ass off to get it. Then her world gets rocked. Her douches fiance cheats on her and knocks up her room mate. Devastated she puts on her brave face and works her part time job and school.
A chance encounter with Josh on a test drive, he lays down his best pick up lines. Tamsyn being the bad ass she is blows all of them off. This shocks Josh, but makes him even more intrigued. The same old BS won't fly with this gorgeous woman.
Does Josh finally win the heart of Tamsyn, or does Liv finally wake up and steal Tamsyn's possible happy ever after?
1. Needed editing. eg. "aluminate" instead of "illuminate", "until you're ass climbed into my truck", "I think you need to walk away before I decided to embarrass the shit out of you.", "If she was going to continue trying to break us up she's find other ways." 2. I just can't see why Tamsyn was ever willing to get involved with Josh in the first place; he was a juvenile, spoiled, selfish, sulky baby/manwhore. 3. Another h with BBS. 🙄 4. Tamsyn forgave Josh way too easily, especially considering her history with men who had cheated on her. 🤬 5. Tamsyn had unprotected sex with Josh knowing that he had been unfaithful and had unprotected sex with Livvy.

I'm at a loss because it's been a very long time since I've read anything so badly written that I DNF it within the first 24 pages. But here we are.
Let me start off by saying the author tried entirely too hard by using words she clearly didn't know the definitions of.
Pg 4 "I snicker, though undoubtedly keep my eyes on the prize. "I could be in the market." Just as I make the assumption, I hear the clank of high heals coming in our direction. "
Assumption? Does the author mean "assertion" because assumption does not make sense in this context.
Pg 8 "Her tantric eyes make me want things I know I shouldn't ask for, and when she willingly obliges, I'm a mess for weeks at a time."
WTH are "tantric eyes"?
Pg 13 "I can't change my mind because he's sexy and wanting to bide my time."
"Bide my time" makes absolutely no sense in this context.
Pg 16 "I can't abstain from running around the desk until I'm able to beat and punch every part of him I can reach."
Abstain isn't the best choice of words for this sentence and feels way to try-hard.
Pg 21 I don't look at Shaun when I make the order for Josh. "Get me out of here."
To Josh, not "for Josh".
I think this author needs to expand her vocabulary or stick to words she knows.
The H is immature and wholly unlikable and I have zero faith in this authors ability to write the character development necessary to redeem him or make him remotely likable.
The h seems okay, but again I just don't trust the author to make this story anything worth spending my precious reading hours on. So, I'm dipping out 24 pages in.
Absolutely wonderful! I am totally in love with the Mitchell and the Healy's. I feel as though I am a part of their family. I was there when they met, fell in love, had children and grandchildren. We've read all their stories and their children's stories. We've laughed and cried with these characters that's why this book was so hard for me. I never want these stories to end, I want to keep reading about these people because I will miss them dearly. This is Joshua's book and just like the ones before I loved it. It was sexy and heartbreaking. I could say it's my favorite of the series but honestly I think that with every book. They are that good. The real life stories and outstanding writing is what makes these book so special. Give Joshua and the other Mitchell-Healy's a chance, you won't be disappointed.
I was really leery about this one going in, hated that it seemed to be a triangle, but it really wasn't like that. I found myself smiling as Josh and Tamsyn's relationship progressed. They were so cute together and brutally honest with each other. The only trouble came when a girl from both their past came back into play. I found myself hating her from the start and hated how manipulative she was. Her actions became so erratic and over the top and a touch fatal attraction. It broke my heart how unhappy both Josh and Tamsyn were, how the family, which had played a big part in their relationship, were torn. While I hated what happened at the end, the bonus is that it brought Josh and Tamsyn back together and finally put the evil witch far, far away.

Not a bad book, Liked Tamsyn, Josh was ok. Lots of reviews seem to love Josh and overlook the cheating, just because he was drunk was no excuse! If he had gotten the other woman pregnant before meeting the heroine would have made more sense! Also, did never really understand why he was so enthralled by this other woman, so no connection, he made the mistakes that caused his pain so had little sympathy.
Ok I'm just going to say it. This is my favourite book by Jennifer Foor. I truly loved every moment of the story and although the book features one of my book pet hates Jennifer pulled in back and I honestly love Joshua & Tamsyn. Having read all the Mitchell/Healy books from the start these two are my favourite couple.
