Abby, a young Navy SEAL's wife, must learn to cope after her husband dies in the line of duty while deployed in Afghanistan. But can anything mend Abby's broken heart? After returning home to Virginia Beach, Abby’s world will have to change in order to adjust to the shocking surprise she found at the hospital. Her love is soon tested to the limit once again.
Teri Riggs was destined to be a writer. As a small girl she didn’t read bedtime stories, she made up her own. Who needed Little Red Riding Hood or The Three Little Pigs when there were so many great tales bouncing around in her head? When she grew up and became a mother to three little girls, she continued the tradition of making up bedtime stories. On the occasions she chose to tell conventional fairytales, Teri usually gave them a bit of tweaking here and there or added a new ending. Her girls loved it. After her daughters had the nerve to actually grow up and leave home, Teri discovered she had a passion for writing and jumped right in. It came as no surprise she chose to write mysteries and happily-ever-after’s since that’s the genres she loves to read. Teri lives in Marietta, Georgia with her husband, one of her daughters and two dogs that seem to think they rule the world. And some days Teri thinks maybe they do.
Teri still frequently tells herself stories as she falls asleep. The only difference now is she wakes up the next morning and turns her bedtime stories into books.
This was a very good story about the wife of a fallen soldier and what happens after she finds out. I figured the plot twist out right away but it was still a good read. Can't say much more without spoiling it so sit back and enjoy.
I went into this book with the mindset that it was the "make it or break it" book for me with this author, but I wasn't letting that get in the way of my enjoyment of the book. I found this to be a somewhat enjoyable story, but ultimately unmemorable.
The story is split into two parts, "talking" from two different points of view in each part. I was able to easily connect with Ryan and Abby, and their situation. Thing of it was, I didn't have a deep caring for things like I should have. It all felt superficial! The story also felt a little disjointed, probably because of the splitting into two parts. It just didn't gel quite right for me! This will probably be the last chance I gave to this author.
Well, Kleenex needed is an understatement...it's mandatory...this is a tear jerker. From the very beginning, you feel the pain and loss of Abby O'Malley. Add to just losing her Navy SEAL husband, she is with child. How do you even process the grief, sadness and still feel happy about the gift growing inside your womb? Teri Riggs stays true to her writing style of taking you on a helluva ride, complete with emotion, suspense, and all kinds of twists and turns. Don't want to give spoilers, but I will tell you I developed a crush on The Big O. What it The Big O, you ask? Well, my friends...you'll have to read to find out. Proud to give this book a FIVE STAR SALUTE!
As the mom of a sailor I worried every day about my son, even more so when he was on underway. The worry that Abby feels for Ryan and visa versa is right on point. I wish my son had found aa woman like Abby. Their love is a story for the ages. The tribute and love shown for John is what Memorial Day is all about.
Not for me. Firstly, DNA is held for identification. Secondly, Soldier? Is that a term used to describe a SEAL from the Navy? Thirdly, men who show emotion are somehow less? Seriously? A dangerous attitude in this day and age especially amongst the military. The story was all over the place and completely implausible. It had such great potential but sadly it just didn't work.
She's lost her everything. Her husband is gone. How can she go on? Maybe helping her husband's best friend can help give her another reason, besides their unborn child, to get up in the morning. This story is in two parts and part two gives her great joy and frightening danger. This is an intense exciting read. Enjoy I did.
This story is definitely emotional, but I had a strong suspicion about the direction the author was going to take, and I was right. The second half did have some unexpected surprises that kept me engaged and curious at the outcome.
I enjoyed the author’s writing and would read more books by her.
This story has everything; heart wrenching pain, over the top joy, contentment, love. Be prepared and have a lot of tissues around. This is not your typical Navy SEAL story. The tribulations that Ryan and Abby go through could destroy, but somehow they have the strength to get beyond. Loved it.
