An excellent history of the band Dire Straits up to the "Love over Gold" world tour, by Michael ("Tubular Bells") Oldfield.

Very interesting reading for a Straits superfan like me, albeit slightly frustrating as it ends just as aLCHEMY has been recorded and their biggest-selling album isn't even a twinkle in its creator's eye. Surprising that it wasn't updated after the phenomenal success that Brothers In Arms enjoyed, and indeed frustrating that there's no book that talks about Mark Knopfler's post-DS solo work in the same loving detail that's on show here.

I am Dire Straits hardcore fan, but this was so hard to read and plain. After Clapton, Keith Richards this is so pale and monotony written....
