Winding up in Repose, Texas is the best wrong turn Brooklyn ever made in her life. She’s had it tough, and never could rely on any man after a tragic childhood and nearly ending up in jail from lies her ex created to make her take the fall for his crimes. She fought to survive yet another man’s desire to hurt her and pursues her own dreams far, far away. Brooklyn’s new business venture, the Filling Station, is becoming a gold mine in Repose. She’s ready to expand to accommodate her adoring customers, but one of the head board members in town won’t give his approval. That is, until he and his brothers meet her in person and realize she could be the woman to fill their empty hearts. Only thing is, Brooklyn isn’t accepting the town rules, nor has she learned to let go of the past or the harm she thinks all men are capable of. The Cartwright brothers just might have to prove to her how different they really are and how the power of a ménage can heal old wounds, even the deep ones.
People seem to be more interested in my name than where I get my ideas for my stories from. So I might as well share the story behind my name with all my readers.
My momma was born and raised in New Orleans. At the age of twenty, she met and fell in love with an Irishman named Patrick Riley Dwyer. Needless to say, the family was a bit taken aback by this as they hoped she would marry a family friend. It was a modern day arranged marriage kind of thing and my momma downright refused.
Being that my momma’s families were descendents of the original English speaking southerners, they wanted the family blood line to stay pure. They were wealthy and my father’s family was poor.
Despite attempts by my grandpapa to make Patrick leave and destroy the love between them, my parents married. They recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
I am one of six children born to Patrick and Lynn Dwyer. I am a combination of both Irish and a true southern belle. With a name like Dixie Lynn Dwyer it’s no wonder why people are curious about my name.
Just as my parents had a love story of their own, I grew up intrigued by the lifestyles of others. My imagination as well as my need to stray from the straight and narrow made me into the woman I am today.
Reading about a woman that has survived abuse and taking charge of her life always draws me in. But...All of her books are the same. She just changes out their names and the name of the town. This one has to be the worst. The writing was just plain awful. "Making it feel like he broke it but it wasn’t broken". "I need things. I don’t have them here. Our time needs to last, and without supplies it won't." This is just from one page. There is no way a person tied up, shoved in a hole without food or water, would still be conscious after 7 days. She would be barely hanging on to life not signaling that she was in there. I don't know why this author insists on the women begging for sex when they are injured. In every book it never fails. I don't know how a woman can write about other women having to have a keeper. It is stupid to think that a woman who was raped and tortured would suddenly be okay with sex with 4 men. It is even stupider that she would like being submissive right off the bat.
OMG!!!! What would it be like to have that be true? Four sexy badass' there to love a d protect th d if woman!! You have to read this series it gets hotter with every book, and the men are really HOT AND SO SEXY!! ! Keep writing like this Dixie and I will just snatch them up. Your characters are almost real and I just coupled put the first book down! "Let it go" is a must read and I challenge you to try and put it down when you read about the two sister's and their pasts a d see their futures unfold as you read the first of 7 books. I give e this one 15 stars if I could. 💜😄💞
Let it go is book one in the Battlefield series. Book one is Brooklyn and the Cartwright brother’s story. Let it go gripped me from the start. It is action packed, full of angst and loaded with steamy scenes. I devoured this book in one sitting and was left thoroughly satisfied. I really liked Brooklyn; she was a strong, independent woman. She may have been closed off and resistant but she gave people in need jobs. She didn’t judge, she just helped out. The love and worry Brooklyn had for her sister was clear to see. I was glad that she helped get her sister to safety. I liked the heroes in this book. I liked Jagger, Aero, Zeke and Finnian. I will admit that at first, I wasn’t a fan of Finnian. I didn’t like how he refused to attend the board meetings, halting the work Brooklyn wanted done on her business. When Finnian proceeded to think about opening a restaurant out of spite, I wanted to kick him. But as Finnian got to know Brooklyn and the story progressed, so did my opinion/ attitude towards him. As the story progressed and the Cartwright brother’s personalities were shown, the chemistry between them and Brooklyn was clear to see. Overall, I liked this story; I have read it a few times and will probably read it again in the future. The danger in this story had me on the edge of my seat. I was eager to find out if Brooklyn would be found. I liked the drama and I liked that Brooklyn was found instantly. It was a race against time to find and save her. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable story.
Brooklyn is a strong independent woman. She doesn’t need or want anybody to look after her, and she certainly doesn’t want a man. But then she meets the Cartwright brothers. Brooklyn tries her hardest to resist the four men, but it isn’t long before she wants them for forever.
But danger is closing in on Brooklyn. Will Brooklyn be able to move on from the past, and let her men look after her? Will she let them protect her, or will it be too late?
Dixie Lynn Dwyer used to be one of my favorite ménage authors. Unfortunately her books are getting repetitive and predictable. I was looking forward to a new series but the whole guardians thing, unnecessary added POVs, and the h surviving and even conscious after 7 days without water ruined it for me. I'm not giving up, but I'll be more hesitant to blindly purchase another DLD book.
Too similar to many of her other series to really enjoy. I would love to see different character types other than the atypical ones that she tends to favor. The story was okay, but I swear these women encounter more adversity than anything. The setup for the heroine's sister was teased out but I don't think I'm interested enough to explore it.
