This is an excellent book for new drivers.
It has a lot of useful advice on how to drive safely, how to prepare in some different dangerous conditions, like weather, bad roads, etc.
There are also a lot of suggestion on how to check and repair some problems, but it's not so easy to understand as the structure of the vehicle is introduced just briefly.
One of the advices I read is that, every time you stop before an intersection waiting for the green lights, keep enough distance from the front car, ensure you can see the roads after the rear tire of the front car. This is not only for escaping immediately if the car behind you're running toward you quickly (yes, you need to look at the rear mirror every time, judge the speed of the car behind). The most case is that the car behind you are just braking too sharply, if you have enough space before your car, you can move forward a little bit to avoid kissing from the back.
