Yes, this book is outdated in its reference to the yellow and white pages phone books and lack of internet resources. That said, this is still a fantastic book with great basic advice for writing science fiction. It breaks sci-fi down into three parts: world building, creating characters, and plotting the story. I highly recommend it for all beginners and even those experienced writers who need a refresher course.
