Back in print for the first time in more than 50 years, this is the classic account of American aviator Wiley Post and Australian navigator Harold Gatty's 1931 eight-day flight around the world. 8-page black-and-white photo insert.
Overall an interesting read from two viewpoints of an amazing journey and record-setting feat in aviation history. Obviously these two were not professional writers, but pilots can relate to their journey, even if they have only taken a intracontinental flight. The last few chapters of the book were not as fulfilling, written as a background to their journey discussing their childhood and how they got into aviation.
Cowriters Wiley Post and Harold Gatty were the intrepid flyers during the Golden Age of Aviation who wrote this true story about their eight-day journey around the world in 1931. Although not professional writers, the pilot and navigator described with perfect clarity the experience of flying and navigating in another age. The plane, the Winnie Mae, becomes a third character in the book.
