Will their night together be her dirty little secret or the beginning of a lifetime of love?
USA Today bestselling author Amy Lamont writes steamy contemporary and paranormal romance filled with quirky heroines, alpha heroes, and always a happily ever after. Whether she’s writing about world-weary billionaires or rugged bear shifters, she loves nothing more than delivering stories with just as much heart as heat.
Amy lives in a small town outside of New York City with her husband, twin daughters and their two rescue mutts. When she’s not writing or hiding somewhere with her nose stuck in a book, she loves spending time with her family, taking in shows in the city, and traveling every chance she gets.
Summer with the Soldier is book four in the Holiday Encounters series by Amy Lamont. I want to admit that when I started this series, I only intended to read the first three books that are in the box set. But I fell in love with this group of women and the men they fell in love with. I had to follow through and read Jade’s story. Oh my gosh! What a book this was! I just fell in love with these two!
Jade Roberts originally dreamed up the bet to get her friend Emma out of her rut. But then her two other friends found the man of their dreams as well. Jade is twenty two years old and a college graduate. But, unlike her friends, she’s still trying to find her path in life. So, she’s just working temp jobs to keep herself busy. She feels like her life is lacking something but she can’t figure out what it is.
Every year to kick off the summer season, Jade throws a big party at her parents Long Island beach house. When Jade sees a man walk out onto the deck, at first she can’t see who it is. But time just seems to stop. She can’t look away. As she gets closer, she realizes it’s her friend Kate’s older brother, Logan Murphy, who is home on leave from his deployment. She grew up with Logan, they were always close. But this isn’t the Logan of her childhood. This Logan’s features are hardened, blank. She can’t imagine what he’s had to deal with.
“The Logan I knew and loved for as long as I could remember had been replaced by this blank faced soldier and I did not like it. Not one little bit. From here on out I was making it my mission to find my Logan.”
Jade can’t understand her reaction to Logan. Why she is feeling this way about him now after all these years. What she also realizes is that when she is near him, he seems to relax a bit and she sees glimpses of the old Logan.
Then, that night, everything changes between them. They share a night of passion that changes everything. But, do they want to risk their friendship with continuing a relationship? Or would they be better off just going back to being friends?
“I needed to be near Logan more than I needed my next breath. For whatever reason, he remembered who he was when I was near. And I wasn’t going to examine too closely why it thrilled me beyond reason that I was the one who gave him that.”
This book had all the swoons! Logan, the tough, hardened soldier, was the sweetest, most romantic man ever. I’ve actually had great luck with main characters named Logan! The things he did just melted me. Don’t even get me started on the hotness factor. These two together steamed up the pages.
I loved every page of Jade and Logan’s story. The ending was the sweetest. It wrapped up this series with a great big bow. There was talk at the end of this book of an additional book that goes back to Emma’s story but I haven’t been able to find out anything about it so I’m still trying to figure that out. If there is another book, I’m all in!
I have loved every second of this whole series! We waited a while for this 4th installment, but it was so worth the wait!
Back in book 1, Jade and her 3 best friends and roommates, Emma, Kate & Paige, made a bet on who could have the wildest adventure in a certain time period. Ultimately the bet was only to get Emma to get off the couch, out of the apartment and LIVE! It worked so well, that at the end of book 1, Emma challenged the other girls to continue with the bet and see which of the 4 of them could come out on top.
So, here we are in book 4, and 3 of the friends have found their happily ever afters. Jade is the last one left, and she's starting to feel some jealousy of her friends' happiness. Though she's thrilled that her idea has worked out so well for all of them. They're at Jade's parents' beach house in the Hamptons for their annual start of summer party, and in walks Logan.
Logan is Kate's older brother, and, being friends since they were kids, is very familiar to Jade. However, he's been on deployment with the Army, and when he surprises them at the party, Jade is amazed by how attracted she is to him. He's on a 2 week leave and he's having some trouble adjusting, which Jade notices right away. Jade does her best to help him, and, well, I'll let you read the rest for yourself!
Logan and Jade had so much sizzling chemistry, and I LOVED their banter. You could tell they had been friends, and knew a lot about each other, and that transferred over into their new relationship. They were magic together.
I really could not have loved this story more. I'm also so excited to know that we'll get a final, 5th book, revisiting our first couple Emma and Nate! Can't wait to see what's in store!
Great addition to an excellent series. The premise for the series was a group of 4 girl friends making a bet as to how could have the wildest adventure in a certain amount of time. Emma, Kate & Paige had all had their adventures & found the love of their lives but Jade had not. She is beginning to feel like she is missing something. Suddenly, across the patio she sees her best friends brother who is in the service. Suddenly things change..
I love the idea of two friends suddenly changing their relationship. The chemistry was there and hot but you can see how being friends first has both helped & hindered their relationship. They know more about each other than the typical couple and don't want to lose that friendship but their attraction is too hot to ignore. Amy's characters are complex & very thought out. I love how Kate reacts when she finds out about them. You expect her to side with Logan but she's worried that he will hurt her best friend. The plot is easy to follow with some twists to keep things interested. I can't wait until Book 5 & revisiting Emma & Nate, the first couple!!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Even though this is the fourth book of a series, it's the first one I've read. It worked perfectly well as a standalone, but needless to say, I'm now compelled to go back and read the first three books. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky! This deviously wise author set the hook by giving this book away for free, and now she's successfully "reeled me in."
I can't say the writing and grammar are stellar in this book, but the characters are very likable, and the story quite captivating. The heat level is ... whew!...very high in some scenes, but there's plenty of sweetness and genuine caring to temper it. I must confess, this book made me cry. It's been a long time since a romance made me cry, but this one did it. I'm telling you, this sexy soldier is VERY romantic. The incredibly short amount of time it took him to pull off his romantic surprises isn't at all plausible, but ya know what? I didn't care. I blubbered anyway, because it was just so darned sweet. So don't worry about logic when reading this fast-reading book; just enjoy it.
Oh my, oh my, oh my. I've enjoyed all the books in this series. This one was no exception and well worth the wait. Jade is too much fun and her inner voice makes me laugh out loud. Logan is swoon-worthy and beyond tempting. Together they make for a steamy couple on a whirlwind adventure. Thank you, Amy Lamont, for writing such wonderful characters!
la historia es entretenida y fácil de leer, sin embargo es bastante predecible en algunos aspectos, y de una forma u otra me chocó un poco la falta de aspiraciones personales de la protagonista, pero fue algo bueno como para pasar el rato.
Last book in a contemporary series about four best friends that find love in the same year. Jade Roberts is the last woman in her group to stay single and she finds love with her best friend's older brother who is having problems of his own. Logan Murphy is on a short leave from being a combat soldier and on arrival he heads straight to the best party of the summer, his little sister's best friend, Jade's huge beach party when he is still battle ready and more then a little uncomfortable in the superficial party scene, but Jade puts him at ease. Cute fluff story. 191 pages and kindle freebie 2 stars
This is the 4th book in this series and I give all of them 5 stars! Jades story took me by surprise when I realized, and her too, that what she wanted was Kate's brother Logan. A true love story, I smiled all the way through it. The writing is so wonderful, you actually feel a part of these friends lives. Can't wait for the next adventure. Book 3 had someones wedding that everyone needed to get to but never mentioned who!!
I'm a fan of Amy Lamont. I like her paranormal romances, and I've also read the other stories that are a part of the Holiday Encounters. I loved them, and these ladies are a great group of friends. This one is about the last friend standing, Jade, and the brother (Logan) of one of the friends. It was kind of insta-love that's characteristic of Amy Lamont, but also kind of not, since the hero is an older brother of her friend and they've all known each other since school age.
I loved Jade and her ability to read Logan's emotions concerning his PTSD. No one else could bring him that "calm" he needed but her. Jade is such a sweet and fun character who is always trying to keep everyone smiling. Logan is Katelyn's amazing older who comes home from his latest tour blaming himself and feeling the effects of PTSD. These two are just as sexy and adorable as Amy Lamont's other couples. I was excited to find out that these two would be paired together. I just really enjoy all the Holiday Encounters stories and wish there were more.
In Book 4 of Holiday Encounters, Jade is finally getting her story. At her annual beach blast where everyone she knows and then some come to party, she gets the surprise of the year. Logan has just arrived on leave from fighting in Afghanistan for 2 weeks. His sister Katelyn is her best friend and they grew up together. All were worried about him, and now he is here. Jade was beside herself with joy and something funny was happening to her heart at the sight of him. Was he the ONE?
I can't say how much I loved this story. It conveyed so much love and passion and had me right from the start. I totally fell in love with the characters and was so sad when I finished reading it. Not because of the outcome but for the simple fact that the story was over. This is my first book from this author but most definitely will not be my last, I loved her style of writing and look forward to more. Do yourself a favor and read this book, it was amazing !
I cannot express how much I truly, really, really enjoyed this story. You are on fire Amy, or I am for finding this collection. It's so emotional, I cried when I got to the wedding plans, all courtesy of the husband to be. WOW, that ending blew me away!! Never and I mean never have I read such an emotional scene as that wedding in Vegas. Thank you Amy for a story that will stay with me for a lifetime!!!!!!!
For a quick read, Summer with the Soldier really packs a punch. Filled with tons of feels, heat and a seriously swoon worthy HEA, this is a fabulous read. I fell in love with Jade and Logan, and couldn't put this book down until I got to the last page of their story. Though it's a little backwards, I definitely have to read the other books on this series.
Their experiences and emotions felt so real I could emphasize with them. Their reactions, thoughts, choices and words matched their personalities. I not only enjoyed their life story but was moved by their struggles and how they overcome them.
Yes, the whole soldier and softie that wants a family is a great prospect for a book. Although this book is short, the author hit it dead on. It was a fun read. I would have loved to learn more about Logan's past and why he went through to make him so cold, or the scars on him.
While it's TRUE, some people will do anything to win a bet that's not the case for Jade and Logan. This story is a beautiful story about finding yourself, who you were, who you are, who you'll become... this couple shows that timing is everything when it comes to love.
Good friends become more than just friends in this happily ever after tale.
Logan's on leave when loves lightening strikes, visiting his sister and her best friends at their annual start of summer party. He's known Jade for years, so how to tell her she's his one and only now? Jade has loved Logan like a sister for years, but she's also had a crush on him since high school.
Jade made a bet with her 3 girlfriend's that they would all find love. Of course she has helped them along. But for Some reason something was missing in hers. Logan the older brother of Kathlyn comes home and things just jumps from there between Jade and Logan.
I forgot what a talented writer Ms. Lamont is I do have a couple of her books that I haven't even read yet so now I'm very stoked it reading the few that I've purchased look forward to reading more from this author
It's hard to get a 5 star rating from me and although the book was good after reading my last one it was enjoyable but average. I might give it another half star if i could and not having read the sister stories might have put me at a disadvantage.
I could not put this book down. The plot was funny., erotic, and just happy. The characters were very realistic. I am looking forward to reading more of this author's work.
This had to be my favorite of the stories between Emma, Paige, Katelyn, and Jade. I enjoyed the first three, but Jades story takes the cake for me! A. Good amount of romance mixed in with an emotional story. I may be hooked on Amy's books now!
Jade's best friend's big brother is home from the Army on a two week leave, only he is different from how he was before he joined. The closeness they had when they were younger seems to be different. Can she save him from his self?
I really enjoyed this story. Quick and fast moving plot. Logan was easy to like, as was Jade! So glad they found their happily ever after without much issue.
