I was hesitant to read this series because I just couldn't imagine the hero and heroine having any kind of relationship while she was a prostitute.

I'm so glad that I gave it a chance because Touch Slowly has turned out to be one of my favorite books that I've read this year!! I absolutely fell totally in love with Emmett and Nova. Emmett *sigh*

Definitely a reread for me and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. So good!!

Wow DK another fantastic book! I hate to say this, but I think I loved Nova and Emmett’s story more than I loved Madison and Bear in Blow Softly. I really didn’t think that was possible because I loved their story, but this one was phenomenal. I couldn’t put it down.

I don’t want to give away too much about the story because you really need to read this great book. This again is an unconventional love story between a prostitute, Nova Kinsley, working for the Network in a brothel in Federal, Idaho and Emmett Parker the owner of an auto supply parts store and manager of the Bitterroot Trailer Park.

Nova

Nova is a strong woman and she has goals set for herself when she is through working for the Network. She has worked hard to save money. She can leave the Network once her 3-month stint is up in Federal, if she wants to. Nova wants to have a real home, that’s not in a trailer park. Nova grew up in a trailer park, first with her mother and then with her aunt and cousins, Shayla and Nick. Nova’s mom took off with her boyfriend and promised Nova that she would be back for her once she got settled. Her mom never came back and she was raised by her alcoholic aunt, who died of the disease soon after Nova and her cousins became adults. Nova was very close with her cousins, but when she joined the Network and was traveling around the U.S., only Shayla knew the true story of her profession. Nick was given a whole different story.

Nick and Shayla moved to Federal, Idaho to have a new start. Nick works in the silver mine and Shayla is self-employed and has a house cleaning business. They live in the Bitterroot Trailer Park next door to Emmett Parker. Nova was so happy to be reunited with her cousins, even if it meant she went back to the trailer park. She had no idea who she would meet at the trailer park. She worried that sneaking out of the bordello, she would get caught. The bordello has strict rules regarding no outside contact with people. What she didn’t count on was her attraction to Emmett.

Emmett

Emmett is a great guy, always willing to help his tenants in the trailer park. He is a hard working blue collar guy that grew up in the trailer park and is close with his family. Emmett was attracted to Nova immediately, but pursued her slowly because Nova asked him to so he could get to know her better. He had a feeling either Nova was lying to him about her reasons that she was in Federal or that she was keeping a secret. Emmett tries to draw her out, but Nova keeps weaving lies.

There are twists and turns that made me hold my breath. Lies are discovered and the truth revealed. You know that pang you get in your heart when you get to that part in the book where crap hits the fan and you know there may be no coming back from the storm it creates? I kept hoping they could find their way. My heart hurt for them. I had such hope for them and what could be. I won’t tell you any more of the story, but you won’t be disappointed. The epilogue is fantastic.

I highly recommend you read this book and the other books in this series. Look for the final book, Fall Gently to be coming out later in 2016.

A beautiful love story that defines the fact that money can't always make you happy but love can. Abandoned by her mother and raised in a trailer park, Nova thinks if she makes enough money she can get a fine house and leave the trailer park child behind. The two people she loves most in her life are still in the trailer park. That is, until she meets Emmett, then he becomes the center point of her life. Nova chose to go to work with The Network as a prostitute because she wanted money to make her life better. She learns that love is much stronger than money and that whether it's a trailer park or a fine mansion, there's good people everywhere. Emmett is a strong man that takes Nova as she comes and understands her fears of getting involved because of her fear of abandonment. This is a poignant and beautiful love story that left me wanting to read more about Emmett and Nova.

Touch Slowly is the second book in the Red Light: Silver Girls by the amazing Debra Kayn!!

Abandoned by her mom at a young age has left it's mark on Nova Kinsley. The choices she has made up to this point in her life have currently led her to the small town of Federal, Idaho. Why you ask? Well it's simple really. Nova works as a prostitute for "The Network". She is beyond excited to be in Federal because that is where her cousins, Nick and Shayla, live. She is only scheduled to work in Federal for three months, so her plan is to keep her private life separate from her work. She wants to do her job, save money to fulfill a life long dream, and spend a lot of time reconnecting with her cousins. The problem with sticking to her plans comes in the form of a sexy mechanic named Emmett Parker.

Emmett lives next door to Shayla and Nick in the Bitterroot Trailer Park. The people who live in the park are like one big family. When he first meets Nova, Emmett is intrigued. He knows there is more to her that meets the eye. As they begin spending time together, neither one of them can deny the mutual attraction they feel for one another. Emmett doesn't know Nova's entire story, but he quickly realizes that if he wants a relationship with her, he has to take things slow.

I loved Nova and Emmett. Nova was strong and independent, and she had mad love for her cousins. Emmett was a man's man. He worked as a mechanic and used Lava soap. If you don't know why that is a big deal I will tell you. Only real hard working men use Lava soap! In my opinion, we should all strive to be like Emmett. He was 100% content with his life. All he needed was a job he loved that paid his bills and left him with enough money to buy beer for his friends.

Whenever a new book is released by Debra, I don't care what I am reading. It is put on hold until I finish Deb's new book. She is easily one of my most favorite authors, and if you have somehow missed her books, you need to read them asap! I promise you will be super glad you did! Debra-you rocked it once again!!

Who would have thought I would be so deeply touched by romance stories starring prostitutes? Leave it to author Debra Kayn and her brilliant storytelling to get me hooked on her Red Light: Silver Girls series. In her latest book, Touch Slowly, this author had me in tears as I read the prologue and what happened to young Nova Kinsley and how that changed her life.

Nova is an independent, strong, smart and resilient young woman who had to resort to becoming a prostitute to make fast cash in order to fulfill her dream. What I liked about Nova was the love and devotion she had for her cousins, Shayla and Nick, and the risks she takes to spend time with them. Who she wasn't expecting to meet and develop feelings for was Emmett Parker. I adored Emmett right from the beginning; I loved that he was just an ordinary guy who enjoyed the simplest things in life like his work at his auto parts shop, living in a trailer park and hanging out with his friends. I liked that he could see the vulnerability behind her tough exterior and his determination to get to know her despite the lies she obviously told him. These two had incredible chemistry and I enjoyed watching their relationship flourish and she became his heart as he touched her slowly.

I devoured this story from the minute I began reading it until the very last page. This story evoked so many different emotions as only a brilliant author could. I loved the characters, the love story and the town of Federal.

I can't believe how much I enjoyed this story. I was actually tearing up around the 82% mark. There are no billionaires to be found - just an hard working everyday Joe, or in this case Emmett. Growing up in low income housing, I could relate to parts of this story so easily. Nova is a great character that you can't help to fall in love with. You get to see Emmett bring parts of her back to life, parts she didn't even realize she missed. I absolutely loved the ending.

I'd love for Shayla and Nick to get stories.

I loved Emmett and the attitude he sometimes had with Nova, "Jesus, woman. You don't take selfies with a black bear." He took her phone away from her and shoved it in his back pocket..." I really enjoyed Emmett and Nova these characters were filled with so much love.

again loved this book. really well written and great characters.

impossible to put down.

couple of things kept knocking me out the story though:

1) they're supposed to be secured in the top floor and watched at all times, yet Nova manages to get out all the time via the fire escape and no one (other than at the end) sees her? not leaving or coming back? it just didnt ring true and annoyed me. with all the bikers around, security cameras that only picked up her shadow at almost month 3 and she's never seen? nope-

2)we hear constantly about how small Federal is, yet no one recognises the women when they go to the doctors ? the safe house story just didnt ring true.

3) i didnt like that it detached from the biker groups. i've read two of DK's biker series and really only interested in biker books. this has absolutely no biker mc interaction at all (minimal anyway) so if you're hoping to see that you'll be disappointed.

4) whilst i love DK books i wish she'd put them on ku, its getting expensive working my way through her series at 3.50 a book. either i choose to continue and spend a shit ton on one author or i move on and i don't want to do that. whilst i appreciate authors need to earn a living, for quality authors like DK readers are going to finish her books which are a decent length and therefore it'd make it worth her while. price unfortunately going to put a lot of people off starting her amazing series because we're not just talking about a 3.50 investment, Bantourus series has 8 books so thats 28.00 for just one series and then there's the other 3 series. not sure anyone wants to spend that much money on just one author. which is a shame cos DK is an amazing author, but at some point you need to watch your budget.

Touch Slowly is a book about a prostitute and an ordinary man. A book about a girl who is afraid to love and a man who is a good guy, a moral and confident man. A book about love, friendship, hope, trust and community. Yes, community and the ties that bind us to our roots.

When Debra Kayn told her readers her next series was about women working in an illegal bordello, I thought to myself, “Ok, Let’s see how she pulls this one off”. The first book in the series about Madison and Bear – “Blow Softly”, Debra opened my eyes to the fact that these gals were just normal girls living in an unordinary world. After reading Nova and Emmett’s story, “Touch Slowly”, Ms. Kayn opened my heart to these gals that have had past experiences that have cut deep and hurt them hard. Past that leave them stronger and in control of their lives. Both Madison and Nova are strong women, women who can take care of themselves, who will not let life deal them hurt again, women who have it all. Or do they?

I cannot say enough about how I felt while reading “Touch Slowly” and the fact that Ms. Kayn took my breath away with this story. This book had it all for me, romance, drama, happy, sad and laughter. (A bear and a cinnamon roll – brilliant) I found myself drawn in so deeply I didn’t want to come back to reality and didn’t stop reading until I turn the last page.

My recommendation about “Touch Slowly”? Read it! Don’t judge it based on the subject matter. Don’t turn you nose up thinking it’s not the book for you because it’s about a prostitute. After a while, you forget about how Nova earns her living, she is just an ordinary girl who meets an ordinary guy. But her story is anything but ordinary! “Touch Slowly” is an exceptional love story by an extraordinary author!

OK so it was amazing just like the other story in this series although this one was much different it was more fun to read and get lost inside of it. The only reason it took me so long to read was I kept stopping and starting another story. **slaps own hand** This author gets a hold of paper and really goes to town with words she makes them come to life in a whole new way. While this story was about a girl over coming being a lone when deep down she wasn't really a lone she just had to figure that out one her own and if falling in love helped then damn she was one of the few lucky ones. Nova what a unique name one that you don't hear often. She's strong, caring and full of life, nothing brings her down at all. Emmett I really like this name as well. He was a strong alpha male lead and teamed up with Nova really well, They both seemed to really like each other and blended really well from their every day lives. The love they had for each other kept me at a slow pace and in the dark like one minute I didn't know if they liked each other the next was great. Now no more spoilers on them. I do have to say I'm excited to see if maybe Shayla and Kirkland or even Nick will get their own spin off series I feel like I would love to get know them more. MUST READ STORY!!!!! so worth 5 stars in the end, keeps you coming back for more and more.

Home is where the heart is...Nova Kinsley was abandoned by her mother when she was a small child and was raised with her cousins, by a loving aunt, in a trailer park. But Nova has always wanted something better. She now works as a prostitute, saving her money to buy a house of her own. She works three months at a time, moving from place to place, and this time, she's working close to where her cousins live.

No one but her cousin knows what she does. Nova goes against the rules and breaks out at night to visit with her cousin at the trailer park located outside of town. Her first night out and she meets Emmett, the owner of the local auto parts store and the manager of the Bitterroot Trailer Park.

I love the interaction between this "tough as nails" girl who just secretly wants to be treasured and Emmett, the gentle guy who wants to settle down. He loves living in the park. There is comfort and a sense of family there for him, but for Nova, its a constant reminder of abandonment.

Debra Kayn's new series is quite different, but in true fashion for her writing skills, she makes us see people as just that - people. Whether it is a biker, an excon, a prostitute, or a kind man, Debra creates characters and stories that pull us in and makes us think beyond the outward facades.

Nova & Emmett - what can I say about them? I loved this story from beginning to end. As always with the Red Light Series, Nova is complicated in that her family doesn't know what she does for a living. What is not complicated is the love she has for her cousins and why she is a prostitute. Her reasons are her own, but it is the basis of everything that is in each of us on wanting a better life & changing the hand life dealt you. I love that Nova took back control of her life & even as a prostitute, she got her own revenge on the Joe that started it all (you will have to read the book to understand that comment). Emmett is a mans man - he is not simple, but yet he is not complicated. He is happy and content in the life he is living, of course, that is until Nova shows up in the trailer park. He is a man who watches and sees more than the average person. Once he and Nova come together it is sweet and everything you want for both of them, but, as always with a DK book, it is not wrapped up in a neat bow.

I loved the intricate details that is woven throughout the story. I wavered between Nova and Emmett's side. I yelled at them both and wanted to shake them in some situations. This is a great book to get lost in for the summer read. Don't miss out on Nova & Emmett's love story.

I loved reading this book! I feel in love with Nova and Emmett, what a storyba about this strong girl who wanted to leave the trailer park living where her 2 cousins live and she meets this hard working man name Emmett, who takes care of the park and he owns his own business of course Nova has a secret of being a prostitute and she doesn't want him to find out also she's saving enough money to buy a house. Of course Emmett finds out and its a bumping road but of course it doesn't last long for they have a happy ending which I love for they are so good together and the love they share, also Nova has a loving relationship with her 2 cousins. I love Debra's books for you fall in love with her characters and you want more!

I differ from a lot of people who reviewed this book. I loved Madison and Bear's story. This one not as much. I had a hard time warming up to Nova. I understand why she was the way she was and why she did what she did but it just wasn't there for me. Emmett I loved right from the start. I'm glad they finally got their shit together but everything seemed to happen in a whirlwind at the end. Anyway, I liked it but not as much as the first book.

Oh my goodness! My second book of Ms. Kayn's and I loved every part! I was blown away by the first book in this series and now I'm in love! These girls are such amazing people and I love that you are writing these books!!

My love for Emmett grew pretty quickly but I knew bad news was coming. Nova...what a woman!! My heart hurt for her reading about her past and the unfortunate truth about her mom.

Well done Ms. Kayn and I am such a super fan!! Congrats on this incredible 5 star read!!!

LOVED it!!! The only way this book would have been better is if there was more Emmett. LOVE him!!! These characters - I love these characters Debra Kayn writes!
