Let me get this out of the way: I have read all the St. Helena books by Marina Adair and I love them. Granted, some less than others but the two series still rank up there in my list. I wanted more of St. Helena but I think Marina's done and has moved on from it.
Enter Kindle Worlds and Reina Torres, who took me back to St. Helena. I must say, I am glad to be back, seeing the familiar people and the places again. Reina did a good job looping in the original characters into her story. My complaint with it though, is the way she referred to them. She went back and forth with using full names and nicknames. One instance it was Gabriel, the next it was Gabe then it was back to Gabriel. Same with Frankie and Francesca, which was unacceptable because Frankie would never refer to herself as Francesca nor would she allow anybody to do so. She did it with her characters as well. It would go back and forth between Mirella and Mira, Teodoro and Teo, Lorenzo and Enzo. I am fully aware that it might be my OCD but this drove me nuts.
I also had a hard time connecting with Mirella. I can understand the humiliation, embarrassment, shame and mistrust she felt with what happened to her. However, I can't relate to why she would let that be a hindrance to her relationships, particularly with Teo. She was not decisive as well. She kept on waffling as to whether she would have a relationship with Teo or she won't. One minute she was having sex with him, the next minute, she's ignoring him.
Overall, the story is well written. The editing is excellent. I didn't find a single typo error, which is good because that's another thing that drives me nuts. It's consistent to the general "feel" of the St. Helena series and it fits right in.

This was a new to me author and I got to wonder where this gem of an author has been hiding!!?? I love Marina Adair's St. Helena Vineyard Series and this is an awesome addition!! From the beginning I was intrigued by Teodoro (Teo) and his story but I tink what got me more was the mystery behind Mirella (Mira). Reina Torres really knows how to write a big strong sexy character who's love for his "Nonna" shines the whole way through and you just know a man thike that is gonna fall, and fall hard!!! For me Mira is one strong tough character who is trying to move on from a nasty past and is doing that in St. Helena, until she meets Teo who breaks down all her walls and wants in. Things seem to be going ok, a little bumpy but they are getting to know each other and just when you think HEA is in their grasp someone from Mira's past comes back!! Will he destroy the life she has made for herself?? Will he drive away the man she has come to love?? This book had it all, romance heartache laughter and catching up with some old favourites from St. Helena
Loved! Loved! Loved! I am a huge fan of the original St. Helena Vineyard series and seeing some of the original characters make an appearance in this one was so fun. The new characters introduced by this author were equally fantastic. The Santini's are quite a family and Nonna Velia rivals my own grandmother with her spunk and sass.
Teodoro Santini is back in St. Helena to help with the family business and lick his wounds from his last relationship. His life in LA had been fun but this was home. His Nonna isn't about to let him wallow in the misery of his breakup and before he has time to sit her matchmaking ways are in full force! Mirella Corazzo moved to St Helena to escape the scandal that rocked her world in LA. No one here knows of her past mistakes and she wants to keep it that way but when Teo shows up on her doorstep she knows her quiet little life is about to change!
This is one you don't want to miss. I highly recommend it!! And author....I really NEED Enzo's story please!
This book is a follow up of the St. Helena series by author Marina Adair.
Reina Torres the author of the book really encapsulate the vibe of the characters and location, while making this story strong, sweet and heartbreaking on its own.
The development of the main characters Mira and Teo were people you were happy to go on the journey with. Their back stories were well developed and their relationship was not rushed or completely smooth, which is what you want.
I cannot wait to see what Reina Torres brings out next for St. Helena. Loved this book and highly recommend to anyone looking for a well written romance
This story was sweet, cute, and hot! Teodoro and Mirella were so cute together. I loved Teo's Nonna and how she tried to play matchmaker for Teo and Mira. Loved the small town romance feel and how everyone knows everyone. Makes me want to move to St. Raphael and join in on all the fun. AND this story introduces Teo's brother, Enzo. I hope he gets a story in the future.
I want to move to St. Raphael! I want Nonna as my grandmother and the wonderful and supportive friends.
When you're in the right place, life's unfair happenings aren't important. This is proven over and over to Mira but she can't seem to grasp the concept. Fortunately, Teo is a tenacious but patient guy who recognized what he needed in his life.
Reina has taken the time to build her characters and I look forward to seeing how they fare in the coming books in the series.
This book was gifted to me by the author in return for an honest review. This story was a pleasure to read!
This was my first time reading a Kindle Worlds book and I had been told that Kindle Worlds was basically fan fiction so I was slightly hesitant at first to read Finding Home. Marina Adair wrote two beautifully romantic book series set in St Helena and I was really nervous at the idea of someone else writing in Adair's world because I loved the St Helena Vineyard series and Heroes of St Helena so much. Well, I am both relieved and pleased to say, I really enjoyed Finding Home by Reina Torres.
I thought that since this book was set in the world of St Helena that there would be a mention or two or maybe even a small cameo appearance by a previous character, but this was not the case. This book is actually FULL of scenes involving some of my favorite characters from Adair's books including (but not limited to) Gabe, Shay, Emmerson, Jonah, Frankie, Tanner and more. I don't like to give away any spoilers when I do reviews but let me just say there is a hilarious scene with Jonah and a duck. I mention this scene because I loved it, but also because it captures the fun humor that's often found in many of Adair's books and I feel Torres did a good job capturing the essence of the St. Helena books. But enough about those guys...
This book introduces us to two new characters, Teo and Mira. Teo has returned home to St Helena to get away from the crazy LA life and his ex while helping his Nonna with the olive harvest. He is surprised and happy to learn that the beautiful Mira has purchased the home next door from the grouchy old woman who used to live there. Mira is a St Helena transplant so has also recently arrived from LA where she left behind a cheating boyfriend who cost her both her reputation and her career. I thought the beginning of the book was a little slow in introducing them both, but once I got in the pace picked up and I warmed up to the idea of Teo and Mira. (It's hard to give up my devotion to the DeLuca and Baudouin men and their leading ladies). Their love story is sweet and Teo actually has several moments in the book where he reminds me of my own husband so I'm definitely team Teo now lol.
I didn't have any real complaints with Finding Home. There was the previously mentioned slow start, and I did notice a couple POV mistakes but there really wasn't anything that i disliked or hated so I rate this book with four stars. I'm looking forward to what Torres does with this series and feel like the world of St. Helena is in good hands.
I received a free copy of this eBook in exchange for a fair and honest review
I found this to be a sweet love story that captured my heart from the very beginning. Teodoro was the handsome young man coming home to make a change to a life in which he felt unfulfilled. In comes Mirella to stir his heart among other things. And the entire time, his grandmother Nonna is in the “background” with her wiley ways. I loved how the sparks flew as soon as the two met. And the intrigue of the secret Mira held gave the story a little more edge and kept me wondering if they were going to find a way to be together or not, even until the end.
Everyone has been set upon by the rumor mill, so we all know what it’s like when a story gets blown out of proportion and is only heard from one side. This little tell is what helps us relate to Mira and hope that she’ll have the courage to work through this and find her happily-ever-after. It’s a small town girl-next-door story with a little heat thrown in.
I truly enjoyed it from beginning to end. Reina Torres is a new author for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style and the way she takes us through the caring community as though we are all a part of it, with bright eyes and hopeful hearts. I look forward to reading more of her works.
"Finding Home" was a brilliantly written story by Reina Torres. This story was about a woman trying to forget her past and create a better life for herself in a new town. This woman meets a man who sweeps her off her feet, but she trys to distance herself from him. Come along for the ride with Mirella, Teodoro, Nonna, Lorenzo and the other characters. Reina did an amazing job at creating a scintillating storyline. Her story and characters were cleverly created with their own unique personalities that sucked you into their world. It only took me a day to read this book. With every turn of a page I was drawn in deeper and deeper until I was at the end of the story wishing for more. I'm not a professional reviewer but I personally would reccomend this book to others. You actually need to read this book to get the whole sense of the story. Trust me you won't regret reading this book. This is my opinion and I suggest others read this book with a level head so you can make your own decision on if it was a great read or lacked something for you. I will definitely read more books from this author.
I have been a huge fan of Marina Adair for a while now. So I was nervous about someone else writing about the St. Helena's Vineyard series. But now that I have read Reina Torres Finding Home, I can't believe she waited so long. It is so cool to read about the extended love and family joining St. Helena's. From the feisty grandmothers, to the larger than life sexy men, to the crazy pets this is a series that I can't wait for the next one. Now only if Real Men treated their women the way the Vineyard men did, the world would be a happier place!! While reading Finding Home, every time I met a new character I was wondering about the next book. Who will it be? Enzo and Stella or Roman and Caroline? I can only dream as I patiently await the next book. I would recommend this book to everyone! And If I didn't already own it, I would but it again!!
Finding Home is a novella in the St. Helena Vineyard Kindle World & what an addition! Reina is able to capture the flavor, style & substance of Marina Adair's series perfectly. Her characters are well developed & three dimensional. The plot moves quickly which is the style of the novella. I was able to establish a connection with Teodoro, Mirella & Nonna which isn't always possible in novellas. I usually feel that I am missing back story or something but I was able to totally enjoy this one. I loved Nonna working in the background to set them up! She cracked me up!! This novella had it all - a sweet romance, a little mystery & some comedy to make you laugh. It was a totally enjoyable book from start to finish & it is well worth the price. This author was a new author to me and I hope to be reading more from her. Loved it!
Teo and Mira's story is one of second chances at finding true love. I enjoyed the Santini Family bond and traditions nurtured by Nonna Velia. Friendships and small town feel make this a wonderful addition to the St. Helena Vineyard series. This novella was well paced and longer than most which I think is good. The author's voice and writing style matches that of the series. If you haven't read books from the St. Helena series, this novella would make you want to. An overall romantic, fun and entertaining read! I look forward to reading more stories by this author.
This is my first visit and intro to the St. Helena Vineyard Series and to Ms Torres as well. Lucky me. I found the story to be well written and so much fun. Although I wanted to strangle Mira a couple of times for waffling back and forth and not putting on her big girl panties and keeping them on, I was still able to enjoy the fun. Teo is adorable, especially since he is completely thrown for a loop! And Nonna made my heart sing and reminded me of my own Grandmother who loved to play like she was innocent of all her foolery. Great supporting characters rounded the story well.
This was a great story. Meri was hiding from her past trying to start over. Teo was home trying to take care of his grandmother and the crops. With a little help from Nonna, these two hit it off. With pasts that haunt them both can they make a relationship go? I hope there is more from this author in this series.
This was my first glimpse into St. Helena. I loved it!! It wasn't until the end of the book that I realized this was a small part of a whole. I loved Reina's writing style, and I will sure be looking for more! Back to St. Helena, I will be reading The Heroes of St. Helena series by Marina Adair very soon :-)
If you’re a fan of St Helena Vineyard Series by Marina Adair, Finding Home is the book for you! Reina Torres has done a fantastic job embracing the same feel and tone of the original series. Following Teodoro and Mirella through their journey to love while catching up with past characters breathes fresh air into a world we already know and love.
What wonderful romance. It's a quick read that's really touching between to young people Mirella and Teodoro.
Mirella really wants to leave her past in the past. Teodoro wants to know everything about Mirella. Both know that the truth won’t stay hidden forever.
Mirella finally found the strength and courage to walk away from what was left of her miserable life in Los Angeles. Mira had a cheating lover had thrown both her job and her heart well and truly under the bus. Mira suddenly found a new start in St. Raphael, a lovely little house and great friends that help sooth her aching heart. Now after a year everything's running smoothly. Well that's until her matching making busybody neighbour sends her grandson over to ask to borrow some garlic. Is it too hard not to just ask for sugar in this town. None of Mirella's promises to put her tender and fragile heart on the shelf are not going to save Mira from the way Teodoro turns her life upside down.
The handsome Teodoro has spent years building a successful and top business with his brother in L.A. sadly his last girlfriend’s very cold dismissal had him seeking the comforts of home. Home is in St. Raphael. Teodoro's grandmother isn't about to let him sit and wallow; his grandmother knows the perfect cure. The cure is called love. Mira quickly works her way into Teodoro's heart without even thinking about it. There’s something that Mira's running from. Teodoro wants Mira to turn to him instead hiding and holding things in as it's not good for anyone especially a lovely lady like Mira. Only because Teodoro can't let himself fall for someone who’ll just more than likely walk away when things get tough. That's the thing that Teodoro doesn't want Mira to do. Can he save her?
Reina Torres is a wonderful author. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, Yes it's a short story but it's so beautifully written.
Mirella found it to be just the place for her to escape and start her life over. She left LA involved in a scandal and found this small town to be her haven. She had made a place for herself and she doesn’t want anyone or anything to ruin it.
Teodoro has found success in LA with his brother. He has returned home to help his Nonna. He plans to buzz in and then buzz right back out. He wasn’t planning on feeling a pull from the newest neighbor.
This two feel an attraction instantly but both resist it. They each had things in the past relationships that they needed to resolve within themselves. I liked that they didn’t jump into a relationship immediately. Teo is such a gentleman and I loved his relationship with his Nonna. Mirella had a sweet nature and she was willing to help all her friends. I liked her occupation and think that it helped her fit in to the town immediately.
I loved meeting all the people in the community. I can’t wait to visit again in the future. and. Torres is fabulous at community building in her stories
I've read all of Reina Torres' military romances and loved them. I have to say the same goes for Finding Home. It was delightfully charming. I've spent many happy hours 8n and around Napa Valley so visiting St. Raphael was like visiting an old friend. The denizens of St. Raphael are a friendly welcoming group and I look forward to getting to know them better. Teo Santini returned to his roots ostensibly to look after his Nonna Velia. But, despite his protestations to the contrary, settling down is at the back of his mind. Mirella Corazzo left L.A. in disgrace and landed in this quaint town lick8ng her wounds and hoping to rebuild her life. A year in, so far so good, but having Teo show up on her doorstep almost immediately has her breaking her resolve to be"man free." He's persistent though and their chemistry is papable. He patiently pushy and she's run several timesbut in the end he puts a ring on her finger and surrounds her with a foerver kind of love.
Mirella moved to St. Raphael to get away from the heartbreaking demise of her career. She's happy in her life and the work she is doing. Giving garden tours and giving students and tourists alike a glimpse of the days of old, she has found happiness...of a sort. Teodoro Santini has come home to St. Raphael to be closer to his Nonna. She's getting up in years and Teo wants to make sure she is taken care of. Not to mention, he was getting tired of L.A. Teo and Mira meet when his Nonna sent him next door to borrow a head of garlic. Teo is enchanted with her, even though he fights it, at first. Mira is determined not to fall for Teo's charms. Fate has other plans when they develop feelings in spite of themselves. Everything is going great, until Mira comes face to face with her past and the biggest mistake of her life. Can she and Teo get past the confusion and hurt to get the HEA they deserve? Get this book and find out. Sorry, no spoilers.
Reina Torres takes us through the community of St Helena so that we feel like we are a part of it. I have not read the St. Helena series but those that have will get glimpses of past favorite characters. This novella reads as a complete story. A lot is packed into it for being a novella. Finding Home has well developed characters and storyline. Loved the male lead, Teo, and his devotion to his Nonna and his patience and persistence with Mira. While I wanted to strangle the lead female, Mira, I was still drawn to her and rooting for her to open up her heart and take a chance. I enjoy Torres easy to read writing style. I have already read (and loved) Torres 2nd book in this series (Playing with Fire). I’m looking forward to her third contribution coming January 2017.
Emotional, sexy, sweet, thrilling and engaging romantic journey filled with love, family and passion.... The charters are real and the setting is inviting, as a California girl myself I approve.
Mirella is a creative, sweet, sexy and talented dress maker that moved to town looking to run from her life gone wrong in L.A. and create a new life for herself. Teodoro is a sexy, charming and determined successful business man from L.A. coming home to help his Nonna with the family olive grove and looking to move back home for good.... even though they are not looking for forever they find it has found them despite their best efforts. Excited for another visit to St. Raphael.
This is the first story in St. Raphael CA series and this was a good, sound story with great characters that at least one has one reason to not ever get involved with another man ever again and to just lay low.
Mira has a lot to get over in order to have a good life including love. Teo is the guy that can make that happen even if he doesn’t want a wife and family.
His grandmother is so cute and funny that her grandsons just love her as she is no matter how much she wants to set them up because she wants grandkids.
The is a heartfelt romance with some sensual scenes. I don’t particularly feel stories need that but the story is really good and enjoyed it a lot.
Writing in another author's universe, especially one that is so beautifully written to start with, cannot be easy. Apparently nobody told Reina Torres that as she nailed the essence of what makes the St. Helena series so wonderful, and managed to put her own touch on it at the same time. The author has a way with words and characters that makes me want to read more.
Teodoro Santini returns home to St. Helena to help his Nonna with the family's olive harvest and with a little push from his hilarious Nonna, meets the girl next door. Mirella, the girl next door, is in St. Helena seeking peace and anonymity, but of course, you can't hide from your past no matter how badly you want to. Public humiliation is a powerful thing, and I thought her emotional struggle was really realistically written.
Teo is the epitome of a St. Helena hero: he's tall, dark, funny, sweet, and handsome which would be enough, but he's more than all of that. One of the things I loved the most about this book was his relationship with his Nonna Velia. The unabashed love and tenderness he showed for her made him the kind of character that makes me swoon. It wasn't a surprise to see that love and loyalty transferred over to Mira, patiently waiting until she was ready to deal with all of her issues.
The side characters in this book were also fantastic. We got to revisit some well-loved favorites from the original series including a few moments that made me laugh out loud (specifically, spoiler free: Jonah & Mr. Peabody). Velia was the epitome of a perfect St. Helena Granny. I absolutely loved her, and I hope that if Lorenzo gets his own story (totally unsubtle hint to the author) that she will play a part in that book, also because she was a riot.
Structure wise, other than a few very minor changes of POV that weren't at all difficult to look past, this novella was extremely cleanly and well written.
“Finding Home” is a sweet, fun addition to the St. Helena world. It was fun to meet a new cast of characters and to see a totally different side of St. Helena. If you enjoyed the original books, you'll love this one!
Mira leaves Los Angeles hoping to put her past behind her and start a new life in St. Raphael. Teo moved back to St. Raphael to care for his grandmother (Nonna) and the family olive farm. Mira and Teo had steamy chemistry from the start. I love how the author didn't rush their relationship but she let it build over time. This is a well written, beautiful love story about two people that were meant to be together and find each other at the right time and place. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Finding Home: wow! A sweet romance! Teo had been away from home for a while and he was tired of LA. So he went home to where he grew up and to where grandmother still lives. She is a medaling old girl. She just wants everyone find love like she and she wants great grandbabies to make a fuss of. Nonna ask Teo to go next door for some garlic and he wasn't sure he wasn't sure he wanted to. When Nonna gave him a push out the door. He was glad she did. It was a wonderful romance.
I want to visit St. Raphael on my next vacation. I loved the great small town feel this book gave. It had it all the meddling old women, the rumor mill, and the feel that everyone knows your business. Nonna was the perfect grandmother, the one we all want. The story was sweet, romantic, and had some funny moments. It was written with heart and humor. Our main characters are relatable and I really enjoyed the Santini family. I need to be part of that family.
Reading this story was like wrapping yourself up in a warm blanket, it just makes you feel good. I was easily and happily enveloped in these characters and this town. Well written with the perfect amount of detail that makes it easy to visualize the people and their surroundings, which are interesting and entertaining. This was the first book in this series and I will definitely be reading the rest.
I love a great small town story with plenty of heart, family & romance. This was a great story that teaches us there’s more to living your life than living in the past. The characters are so much fun and I’m excited to be a part of their journeys. Hot men, strong women and a community that has drawn me in and makes me want to move there. Fantastic story! This is book 1 and can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend this book.
This town and its inhabitants are the ones you wish were your neighbors. Funny and caring, maybe a bit meddling, but still with your best interests at heart. Mira and Teo were our first happily ever after and I can't wait for our next one!
