Covenant Hardcover with 30 beautifully illustrated pages - Approx. 9 ½" x 11 ¾" - Andrew loves visiting Grandma and Grandpa. There is only one thing at their house that he doesn't like - the faded photograph of a stern-looking old man. At bedtime, Andrew buries himself deep under the covers so the scary man can't watch him. Then the young boy learns who the man in the picture was, and is-someone's grandpa. - A tender story about the love grandparents have for their grandchildren and the eternal ties that families share across generations of time.
Sian Ann Bessey was born in Cambridge, England, but grew up on the island of Anglesey off the coast of North Wales. She left her homeland to attend university in the U.S., where she earned a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in English. She began her writing career as a student, publishing several magazine articles while still in college. Since then she has published historical romance and romantic suspense novels, along with a variety of children's books. She is a USA Today best selling author and a Whitney Award finalist. Although Sian doesn't have the opportunity to speak Welsh very often anymore, she can still wrap her tongue around, "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch." She loves to travel and experience other cultures, but when she's home, her favorite activities are spending time with her family, cooking, and reading.
This is a beautiful book that needs a much stronger title to promote the interest it deserves. I adore the warmth of the art, as well as the warmth of a story that captures the relationship of a grandfather to his grandson with the added bonus of the grandfather sharing stories of his own grandfather.
Listening to the sweet memories, makes me want to go write all my grandparents' memories!
What a great quick read about families being forever. A little bit is afraid of a picture in the hallway of his grandparents house. On a fishing trip with grandpa, he sees the picture in a different light.
