I love writing historical romances, especially those set during or just after the Civil War, so I guess it's no surprise that the 'hunk' pinup in my office is a photograph of General Ulysses S. Grant.
There he is, the handsome devil, with his knee-length frock coat casually unbuttoned and his hat nudged back just so. He's braced against a tree with his right leg cocked and his fist planted on his hip and his gaze canted left toward someone just out of the picture's frame.
I like to imagine he's looking at Rafe Sugarman, his Mississippi Yank. I hope you'll enjoy their story." (flyleaf) so where's THEIR romance, then?
Rafe Sugarman was a man trying to escape his past. Since he returned to Mississippi, all he wanted was to put down roots and hope no one ever found out that he was a southerner who had fought with the Yankees. Then he meets Serena Quinn, a woman who never lets any man close to her. Rafe immediately tries to break her defenses. But Serena has a past she will never forget...one that Rafe may not be able to overcome.
This author never disappoints. I love her historical romances. They are solid stories with strong plots and interesting characters. This is another good one. My rating: 4 Stars.
