"Everything you need to know about keeping plants in your house... lovely pictures, tips, tricks... I love it." (Zoe Sugg a.k.a Zoella)
Love plants, but short on outdoor space? Keen to fill your home with greenery but don't know where to start? Or perhaps you've been labelled a house-plant serial killer? Then this is the book for you.
With stunning photography and expert step-by-step tips, Bring The Outside In reveals everything you need to know to help your plants thrive, from dramatic statement foliage and miniature citrus trees to table-top terrariums and hanging planters. With chapters on orchids, cacti, herb gardens and chilli plants, your home will be flourishing in no time.
Great pictures and a lot of variety of plants, but very repetitious. I liked seeing the different types of plants and which like sun and which do not, but every other page was how to plant a particular plant and it kept saying you need a plant, compost, and a container... Also this book talked a lot about keeping your plants "happy." I think of my plants as alive and thriving or not, no emotions.
Lovely short book, covers the difference between open and closed terrariums, cacti displays and other houseplants. Could be more detailed sometimes but for a beginners guide is really simple to understand, with quick instructions and tips. Would of liked more on terrariums but thats just a personal preferance as I wanted to know everything before constructing my own ecosystems in jars, managed to find missing info in a few other books (not a bad thing as love buying a new reading material!). Great page layouts, though ensure you look at the contents list to start.
A quick and easy guide to starting your own indoor plant family. This is great for those with little or no outdoor space, live in apartments, or have allergies. It has simple starter ideas and tips for keeping the plant healthy. You will probably need more info on your plants of choice after you successfully transplant them, but this guide is a nice inspiration to get started with.
Little more than a printed instagram 'inspo' page. It has a few snippets of helpful information that I didn't know, and the photos are pretty, but that's about where it's usefulness ends. Every how-to follows the same basic, sparse format, without specific details. Groundbreaking, it is not.
The photography and aesthetic of this little help book were stunning. Definitely inspiring and useful enough to go out and buy all the cactus' and succulents that ever did exist.
Life is like a cactus - very beautiful, but full of prickles.
