Read for my Cold War in Asia grad course and certainly more scholarly than needed for most, but an excellent entry into the history of the tri-nation relationship between the United States, Soviets and China during the first three decades of the Cold War. Excellent insight into the Taiwain Strait Crises and U.S. policy to drive a wedge between the Sino-Soviet partnership. Doesn't really offer much analysis of either the Korean War or Vietnam War, but deliberately focuses on nuclear threats and Taiwan in much more detail.
Ok, whoever wrote this was a spaz, but a very thorough, very educated spaz who was quite aware of the strategic triangle between China, US, and Russia, even at the close of the Cold War. (books written within the last 20 years have been a little bit more clear on the subject, but while this book is dated, it remains relavent.)
