Anthony de Mello was a Jesuit priest and psychotherapist who became widely known for his books on spirituality. An internationally acclaimed spiritual guide, writer and public speaker, de Mello hosted many spiritual conferences.
The few talks which he allowed to be filmed, such as "A Rediscovery of Life" and "A Way to God for Today," have inspired many viewers and audiences throughout the United States, Canada, and Central America. De Mello established a prayer center in India. He died suddenly in 1987. His works are readily available and additional writings were published after his death.
In 1998, some of his opinions were condemned by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who later became Pope Benedict XVI, wrote for the Congregation: "But already in certain passages in [his] early works and to a greater degree in his later publications, one notices a progressive distancing from the essential contents of the Christian faith. ... With the present Notification, in order to protect the good of the Christian faithful, this Congregation declares that the above-mentioned positions are incompatible with the Catholic faith and can cause grave harm."
Some editions of his books have since been supplemented with the insertion of a caution: "The books of Father Anthony de Mello were written in a multi-religious context to help the followers of other religions, agnostics and atheists in their spiritual search, and they were not intended by the author as manuals of instruction of the Catholic faithful in Christian doctrine or dogma."

I like the books of Antony De Mello. I've already done with three of his books and this one is no different. The author is trying to enlighten the reader through a collection of short stories which has deeper meaning and provides insights and joy to the reader.
Each story is very small and the biggest one you can find in the book will be of maximum two pages. The author doesn't claim the ownership of any story, as he collected it from different cultures around the world. But he has done an amazing job of separating them into different chapters.
Thought the author advises to read at most two stories a day to make an impact in your life, I couldn't do that as I felt the stories are really interesting and it kept me going. Instead, after reading each story I meditated upon it for two minutes as an alternative. Hope it will work for me.
Overall, it's a great book, not only for spiritual and Truth seeking souls but can be used as a self-help book as most of the stories are metaphors of what is going on in the society and why should you keep calm.
Edisi terjemahannya ada 2 jilid. Buku pertama udah baca +/- 5 thn lalu,br sekarang nemu yg jilid 2.

Books on spiritualism are to be read slowly, they say. I understand that, and I’ve taken it as slow as I can. The book continues the wisdom of Volume 1.
Education should not be a preparation for life; it should be life. I think that has been one of the best quotes I have read. And the example used to illustrate it has been worth it as well. It was something I could relate to as a writer. The words expressed, for being a writer, you should just go write, not prepare for writing.
