I suppose I should have figured that Generalmajor von Mellenthin would not have put his name on any hack work, but I was nonetheless surprised by the fact that this book was so much better than I had expected. At this point, thirty-one years after this book was written, there is no new information or insight to be found here. That being said, however, this book makes a fascinating adjunct to F.W. von Mellenthin's earlier, more detailed and better known work Panzer Battles 1939-1945: A Study Of The Use Of Armour In The Second World War.
