The Night Stalker Killer: Life of Serial Killer Richard Ramirez

Rate this book
What does evil look like? Serial Killer Richard Ramirez certainly comes to mind… Download FREE with Kindle Unlimited! There are some people who travel so far beyond the pale of conventional morality that their actions almost seem like desperate works of fiction. Richard Ramirez is one such person, a Satan-worshipping drug addict who carried out one of America’s most brutal and horrific crime sprees. He burgled, raped, and killed his way across California and left the authorities with nothing to chase. Named the Night Stalker by the press, he seemed like a ghost. Striking fear into the heart of every single person in the area, no one seemed safe from the actions of Richard Ramirez. In this book, we will examine his most horrific crimes while attempting to explain exactly what could drive a man so far from the moral centre of society. A difficult upbringing, brain trauma, and a troubled domestic situation certainly added to his problems, but many of Ramirez’s most damning actions were created entirely in his own twisted mind. This book will attempt to tell the story of the man who gouged eyes, scratched pentagrams, and butchered families. If there is any explanation for the crimes committed by the Night Stalker, then it likely lies between his past and his actions. In examining both, we will know the real person behind the murders. Such is the nature of these ruthless, and cruel murders, the scenes depicted within will not be for the faint-hearted. There are few killers in American history who can come close to matching the vicious levels of violence inflicted by Ramirez during his wave of attacks. While names such as Dahmer and Gacy are remembered by the American public, the murders of the Night Stalker have long been forgotten. So read on and find out the truth behind one of America’s most shocking and horrifying serial killers. Lock your doors.
That is the piece of advice that people should come away with by reading this story.
Mr. Smith does his research. Mr. Ramirez was an evil person and lacked compassion for other people. He enjoyed killing and seeing his murders in the newspapers.
He remained the most feared person in the LA and San Francisco areas for years.

Very Scary People

I'm so glad I read Jack Smith's book in anticipation of watching Channel HLN's VERY SCARY PEOPLE series last Sunday featuring Richard Ramirez. So much information was left out of the two hour TV program. It was nice to be able to put faces to the names of detectives, witnesses, and unfortunately victims. The chronology of the TV program was backwards. They started with his crimes then in the second hour went to his childhood and upbringing.

Jack Smith chronicled Richard Ramirez's life from his parents meeting, life of his older brothers, a sister, and unfortunately a very devious perverted older cousin whom all the brothers admired. But the older cousin influenced Richard the most and in the worst ways possible. I just went through I nearly 24-hour power outage on one of the hottest days of the summer it was 93 degrees.

Los Angeles summers get a great deal hotter. Imagine not being able to leave a window open because of the Night Stalker would cut out the screen and come in with horrific intentions as he already knew the residences were occupied. Murder, robbery, rape, torture. He was brutal. I was so glad that despite their trauma some victims survived. But chapter after chapter of his increasing brutality was hard to take. He targeted whomever's home he could get into: the elderly, couples, families.

I was very happy when he was captured. Watching part of the trial on the TV program & the women who like at Ted Bundy's trial flocked to the courthouse because they thought Richard Ramirez was so handsome. Disregarding his reprehensible murderous actions and what he actually subjected his female victims to. One ardent fan ended up marrying him believing in his innocence. The TV program did add a couple of very important footnotes that had not been chronicled in the book.

Jack Smith's version of The Night Stalker story is easily readable, informative, and gives you the reader a good understanding of the killer his crimes and the victims. I recommended it to other True Crime fans.

Born on Leap Day—February 29, 1960, to illegal immigrant parents, as Ricardo Ramirez. It’s unclear when he adopted the Americanized version of his name.

Abusive and neglectful household. Multiple head injuries (most likely TBIs) as a very small child, coupled with untreated epilepsy…despite multiple grand mal seizures that occurred publicly.

Richard had an early fascination with the dark, the macabre, and the bloody.

His first rape was at age 15. He moved to Los Angeles at 18. From marijuana to LSD to an expensive cocaine habit—he began mainlining the drug.

Discovered PCP and the Satanic Bible. Felt a closeness and camaraderie with the Devil.

This book gets fairly gory. 🔪 🩸 Stolen cars, stealthy entries, burgling skills, rapes, murders, tortures, maimings, mutilations…

Apparently you used to be able to buy Uzis and machetes and bodegas. Those must have been the days.

Richard was smelly. Hygiene was not his strong suit. And lots of ED issues. 🍄

Of all things, James Romero, just 13, spotted the Night Stalker—and led to his ultimate undoing.

Richard died of lymphoma in 2013 while awaiting/appealing his execution. He’d been on Death Row for 23 years.

My only disappointment is that there’s no real exposition into the phenomenon that he became after capture, especially in the media and popular culture. So many women were obsessed with him. And he’s so objectively gross-looking.

An enlightening account of the Night Stalker

Richard Ramirez is a familiar figure from newspapers, television and books. His story, however, is not a simple one. His crimes were vicious and gruesome, his victims were many.

Men, women, children, the elderly and infirm, it made no difference to Ramirez. Weapons? Whatever was at hand would do. His deeds? Whatever he thought would please Satan who provided him protection, or so he believed.

When his photo was on the front page of every newspaper, he would find that there was no place to hide.

Nice basic summary of all the main points in the Night Killer Saga. Quench's your thirst for information on the story but definitely makes you wanting more. The writing is amateurish and there are the occasional grammatical and spelling errors - Jack definitely isn't winning any awards for this. But overall it gives you want and it's fairly entertaining.

Fear

The fear he placed on the people of LA was enormous! I do not like to see people suffer. However, in his case, he deserved no less. By passing away, his dreams of meeting Satan may have been fulfilled!!

A gruesome book about the brief history of Richard Ramirez! What a evil man who worshipped satan and was heavily addicted to drugs. Fascinating insight aswell about his cousin Mike who served in Vietnam commiting horrific rape and murder then being labelled a war hero.

This book is about a serial killer known as the Night Stalker. Richard Ramirez conducted his crimes in california where many other serial killers also conducted their crimes. I had the chance to speak with this serial killer personally and I found him to be cold and evil. I corresponded with him for a few months and the depth in which his mind worked was pure evil. Fueled with drugs and the idea that Satan was the God of chose led this man into the crimes that he did. I would recommend this book to anyone that has an interest in learning about serial killers.
