Rate this book
Mills & Boon Intrigue series brings you stories filled with secrets & seduction...Assignment:
To unlock the secrets of a woman

More than muscles and a handsome face, Jordan was a professional protector. And while the cop in him wanted to know what caused a beautiful woman's amnesia, the man in him wanted to know how she did what no other had made him feel alive again.

She couldn't recall who she was or why she'd come looking for Jordan, but without him she'd surely fall victim to the killers who pursued her. She had no choice but to trust Jordan to keep her safe.

Under the same roof imprisoned by the same four walls evading determined pursuers they were strangers no more. And their passion was the only certainty in the face of an unknown threat.

CHARLOTTE DOUGLAS has loved a good story since she learned to read at the age of three. After years of teaching that love of books to her students, she now enjoys creating stories of her own. Often her books are set in one of her three favorite places—Montana, where she and her husband spent their honeymoon; the mountains of North Carolina, where she has a summer home; or Florida, near the Gulf of Mexico on Florida’s west coast, where she’s lived most of her life.

Ex-police detective, Jordon Trouble, sighs and thinks, "Of all the tiki bars in all the world, why did she have to walk into this one?". He goes into protective mode as two thugs grab and try to force the gorgeous blonde to leave with them. And then it happens. When Jordon punches the tallest thug, the woman is pushed to the floor against a table and is out for the count. Coming to on Jordan's cabin cruiser, the woman is terrified, she doesn't know who she is. And this sets the tension for their journey. The news is chattering about her, the ex-wife of the murdered real-estate tycoon who has gone missing with their two-year old daughter. But where is the child? And why were the thugs after her?

I've read a few Intrigues by Ms. Douglas, and in honesty found them to be just okay. This one was very well written and engaged me from the first page. Jordon is a tortured hero, with a bit of a self-destructive streak since the death of his partner, a woman he failed to protect. Sara aka Angel, is a woman determined to find her child no matter the cost to herself. The amnesia plot works very well, and I loved that though she couldn't remember, others knew her and could help her put the pieces together. I enjoyed this one very much.

I am giving this 4 stars only because it is exactly what it is intended to be. Harlequin romances are escapist, feel good Sweet Dreams for adults. Beautiful women meet handsome, moral, dashing men and everything works out in the end. The plot is always the same- only details change, but thousands of these books have been published and gave women a fun outlet. I paid twenty cents for this book at the library sale. Fabulous cover, exactly what I expected.

An older book about a girl with amnesia and the cop who protects her from goons trying to kill her. She remembers killing her ex husband, but did she? Very suspenseful but predictable ending.
