A premier anthology of the outstanding sports writing published during 2000 features the contributions of such distinguished talents as H. G. Bissinger, Charles P. Pierce, Rick Reilly, Jim Harrison, and others on everything from surfing and golf to baseball and bodybuilding.
Another fine collection, this one focusing more on the (for lack of a better world) hidden world of sports than other collections that I've read. The essay on diving the Andrea Doria is fantastic, as are the last several essays in the volume (one on "enforcers" in hockey, another on the inanity of sports writing and a surprisingly entertaining piece on fishing). Well worth picking up.
