4 “I Race Colton Donavan” Stars.

description

I’m not usually the biggest fan of these male POV chapter compilations. I don’t really like to pay just to read the exact same story only trough someone else’s eyes.
But since this was Colton Donavan I decided to give it a try… because c’mon, who wouldn’t want to have more of him?
It was nice to see some of the critical moments from his point of view, but in my opinion, it lacked some other crucial moments that weren’t there and should have been.
But it was a short-story nice enough to easy Colton Donavan withdrawal, and just for that, it was worthy.
If you’re a fan of these books, you’ll probably like this.

COLTON DONOVAN...

So 160 some pages of key scenes from the trilogy...all told thru Colton's POV.

A real glimpse into the mind and the heart of one of the sexiest alphas ever written! The inner turmoil, the pure want and need for a woman, the incredibly deep love experienced for the first time...all done with that cocky arrogance, smart ass mouth, and racing swagger!

I loved this entire series...this was just icing on the top of a perfectly done cake! So from a true fan....

This book answers ALL the burning about what Colton was thinking during key scenes in the Driven Trilogy. Raced is totally hot and heartfelt at the same time!! This companion novella is a must-read for Driven fans. It shows not only the arrogant side of Colton, but also his vulnerable, tender, insecure and oh-so-sexy sides as well.

This book is almost like a love letter to Kristy Bromberg’s fans and you can tell that the author takes that responsibility very seriously. If you were not totally in love with Colton Donavan before, you will be head over heels in love with him after reading Raced. I devoured this story and loved every single word of it. It is not simply a re-telling, but really gets inside Colton’s head and is written in a true masculine voice.

I LOVED this book and highly recommend it!!

***4 I RACE you Colton Donovan Stars***

"I'll never break when I have her by my side because she'll bend with me, hold the chips that break off when times get tough and help me put them back."

A great companion novella to finish off this series. There were so many moments while reading where I wished I knew what was going through Colton's head and now I know.....and it only solidified my love of this series.

I think my favorite thing about this novella is it doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. Not disguised as a whole "new" book, but rather a deeper and different look at what you already knew and felt.

Each chapter is either a scene from Colton's POV that we've already witnessed or his thoughts before or after a pivotal moment, with a couple of "new" scenes sprinkled in. And I loved that K. Bromberg gives an introduction before each chapter. A majority of the scenes are those that she was constantly asked about throughout the course of the series. She provides insights on her thought process, why she chose to go in a certain direction, and how deep Colton's struggle was. Overall just an additional insightful layer to this already beautiful love story.

We get an in depth look at the push/pull frustration between Colton and Rylee, a hysterical look at Colton and Beckett's bromance and a touching moment between Colton and his dad. I haven't mentioned it in my previous reviews, but I loved Colton's dad, Andy! Because I loved his giving and loving heart, his unconditional support of Colton, his sage advice and his unwavering patience with a frightened boy and damaged man....I shall give him the final word.

"You know life is one big scavenger hunt. Fate hands you a list of things to experience. Ones you never expected, ones that break you, ones that heal you. So many of them you swear you'll never even attempt or want to cross off your list. You get caught up in the day to day, moment to moment, and then one day you look at your list and realize you've unexpectedly completed some of the tasks. It's only then you realize that the brutal truths the scavenger hunt has made you face has only made you a better person, but has also given you an unforeseen prize when all is finally said and done."

5 I-RACE-YOU-COLTON STARS!

description

The Driven series is one of the most amazing love stories I've ever read. It's one of those kinds of stories I didn't want it to end and when it did I felt sad because I felt so much in love with it. So when I found out there was going to be more to this unforgettable story in Raced I couldn't be happier, particularly since I was getting more of my heart-stopping Colton Donavan!♥

“I’m a take it or leave it kind of guy. And I’m definitely taking this one. Too bad she doesn’t know it yet.”

Raced is compilation of scenes from the three books in the series told in Colton's POV so note that this is not a complete full-length novel. It's more of a beautiful collectors item for the fans of the series and it should be read after the other books.

I found Raced to be the perfect complement to this series. Many fans (including me!) wanted more of Colton and K. Bromberg was able to bring him back to life incredibly in this book. I loved hearing his voice again in my head; he's just so irresistible with his sexy-dirty-talk, humor, arrogance, and all of his brokenness. Yes, this mouthwatering man is a broken and complex man and even though I got to understand him very well after reading the series, I found this book truly insightful about his character.

“I’d like to say I’ll walk away right now and save her the pain but know sure as shit—because I’m standing here—that I can’t.”

Throughout the whole series Colton struggles with many things: risks, doubts, temptations, demons, fears, mistakes, forgiveness, and feelings. So I loved to see what was going through his mind during some very decisive moments and let me tell you he blew me away with everything he thought. When this man feels he feels it with so much intensity and even though he might not know exactly what he's feeling, it felt extremely raw and gripping. I felt like this book was Colton pouring his heart out to me and letting me know and feel what was like to be him during some of the most important moments and decisions of his life. I have to say I loved sharing all that with him and seeing him getting his checker flag once again at the end. This book for sure made me love him even more now!

I also loved getting K. Bromberg's insights as she introduces each chapter. It was an awesome way to connect with her and understand how she felt when writing the scenes, the whole story, and these incredible characters. Characters that will forever stay with me.

Definitely a must read for all the fans of the Driven series! ;)

“Arrogant. Conceited. Egomaniac!”

This book gives a great insight into some points in the trilogy from Colton's point of view. And get an even better understanding of Colton's thoughts and feelings from when he first met Rylee until they got married.
There is a short author note before each scene, it gives a small explanation and I like it. Great companion to the trilogy.

Trigger Warnings:

So this is a nouvella compilation of Coltan’s POV. It includes all three books, Driven, Fueled, and Crashed It’s honestly kinda cringey and the writing wasn’t for me cuz it didn’t feel like I was reading from Colton’s POV, it sounded like Rylee. And Coltan was so arrogant in a cringey way, it wasn’t hot😬. It didn’t really give much info that I needed or cared for but it was nice to read it while reading the series to see some small missing pieces, especially near the end. But I don’t recommend reading this when reading the Driven books. Maybe read the last coupla chapters but don’t read the first bit since it just wasn’t that great.

Now for spoilers

This did fill in small gaps, especially at the end but I wouldn’t say it is needed since some parts are repetitive. But there are some wholesome chapters even though Colton’s POV sounds exactly like Rylee's. But it was entertaining I guess, not enough to rate it high though. Anyway, stay safe folks!

Usually I am not a huge fan of these compilations of bonus scenes that just give you fragments of scenes from a different character POV. But come on, this is Colton Donovan.... A.C.E. And when you have a chance to take more of this broken-reformed-bad-boy, there is only one option. Take it. All of it.

These scenes span the length of the trilogy, bringing you insight to key moments of the story. The times when you wondered ‘what was he thinking’ - you get all of these key moments and hold on, cause Colton is going to give you whiplash with his need to protect himself and his need to have Rylee.

One minor thing that struck me during reading this was the writing style. Some authors have a method that is obvious. You can read an excerpt and you just know who it is that wrote it. K. Bromberg’s structure did not change in the switch of roles for her voice in these scenes. Part of me loved it, making me want to read the series all over again... the other part of me, well it craved Colton having a different – more distinct voice.

Colton is without a doubt one of my favorite book-boyfriends. He was arrogant, damaged and sexy as hell... but what I loved about these scenes is that as much as he wanted to fight his need to have Rylee... to have something far more than he thought he deserved, he couldn’t fight it. Sure, through Rylee’s eyes it seemed like he fought the desire and pushed and pushed – but what we see through his eyes, is far more of giving in than expected.

His broken was shining in this. In each scene there was a fracture, demons of his past seeped through and as much light as Rylee brought, the shadows were never fully chased away.

I know for those die-hard Driven fans, this is going to sound crazy. Believe me I loved this series hard. But I am looking forward to seeing where K. Bromberg takes us with future books. I want Beck’s story as much as the next fan-girl – but what I really want is to see something that falls outside of the box that Driven falls into. I want to see her creativity stretched and pulled in all directions and for her fans to go along for the ride. There is no doubt that anything Driven related is going to do well – as a reader and a fan of this series, there isn’t a thing that would keep me from one-clicking on any release that brought me more Colton. However, I want to experience a journey with this author. From her debut series to see her take this success and soar.

4 checkered flag stars

I took too long of a break from the Driven series for reasons I have no idea. This book is excerpts of fan favorites told in Coltons POV. I also did the audible and the persons voice is exactly what I imagine Colton to sound like. To me I was reading the Driven series all over again instead of just brief pauses. The author also inputs little phrases and back stories every chapter or so and it makes you feel you bond with the author on a friendship level.
Colton and Rylee are such a perfect pair and its great to see the two in a different light. I normally hate books that are POV retellings like I totally hated GREY by EL JAMES and I should have loved it.

This is refreshing, different and dirty! Colton has a mouth that makes you blush. It has naughty bits and sweet bits and you fall in love with Colton all over again .

if you have the Driven series its fun to reread the excerpt in Rylee's POV then listen to Colton's POV. The author puts a blurb and tells you where the upcoming scene can be found in the Driven series.

“Roses are red, tires are black, you’re the only pussy I wanna ride bareback.”

She is a smart fucking girl, she will figure out I am bad fucking news, a heartbreak waiting to happen and head for the hills

You and me... nothing but sheets

DNF.

The author stated she wasn't sure if she could write a male POV....she was right. Sorry but this was just awful. Nothing new is presented and every chapter is a constant repetition of the exact same thoughts over and over again.
Also, sometimes less is more. Using fuck and every variation of the word 5 times on the same page isn't necessary. I got it the first fucking time.

Maybe if I would have read this back when I finished the third book I might have enjoyed it more but since it has been so long it took a while to remember certain things.

I will say it also might have helped a bit with my feelings for the first 2 books to have known his thoughts but then again maybe not.

Raced (The Driven Trilogy #4) by K Bromberg
4 stars!!!

“And I’ve never felt more exposed in my life. Guard down. Heart open. Soul needing. Accepting. Wanting.”

As most of you are aware I am a super fan of The Driven Trilogy, I have loved every single word; except maybe the word/person “Tawny!” However, there have been a number of pivotal scenes and intense moments whereby I would have loved to have been inside Colton’s head, just to see what he was really thinking rather than what we the reader, perceived him to be thinking. This novella gives even more depth to Colton Donovan and while you think he is all calm on the exterior this insight reveals that he was anything but and you cannot help but fall in love with him all the more. Are you ready for more Colton Donovan…yes please!!

This is NOT a novel, this is a series of scenes throughout the trilogy that were originally written in Rylee’s point of view, turned around so that they are now written in Colton’s. These scenes cover Driven, Fueled and Crashed and as I stated above, some of them were really pivotal to their relationship.

From the moment that Rylee and Colton met or fell into each other, you could tell that Colton was a bit knocked back. He was feeling things that he had never felt before, he was confused and he was anxious…we find this out as we went through the series but what did Colton really think when they first met? I think you would be surprised!! It is these little snippets that let us the reader in, into a mind that was scared…scared to love and be loved. We know his back story, we know how screwed his head really is, but his mind set and thought processes that are shown throughout this book are enlightening to say the least. Our ACE was not at all the brave, arrogant, cocky, self-assured person we thought he was, in fact he is…

Afraid
Circumspect
Exposed

“With temerity and defiance, obstinance and patience, she chipped away at every hard edge of me until there was nothing left but the truths I feared. The bent and broken. The ones buried so goddamn deep I knew they’d push her away.”

Throughout this novella, you see all his internal monologues and internal battles, a man struggling with alien feelings and his own struggle in coming to terms with his propensity to love and be loved. Some of these scenes are emotional, you may have the odd errant tear…but once you have that connection to a character you cannot help but feel their pain and Kristy really brought that to the forefront. You also have a scene with Becks that shows their true bromance, what a best friend! The scene with his dad too, heart-breaking, but monumental!

“I love you.” The words are out without thought, my hands shaking, the little boy in me hoping he hears them. I immediately hear the hitch of his breath as his whole body freezes. He slowly hangs his head forward, his shoulders shuddering momentarily. He raised his head and nods a couple of times. “And that is my unexpected reward for my scavenger hunt.” His voice is thick with emotion. “I love you too, Son.”

For any Driven series fan, this is a must read and one that will only leave you loving and understanding Colton all the more.

I'm sure we all thought, "What the Hell is he thinking?!?!?!" at least a few times in the Driven Trilogy. Well now we get to know exactly what Colton was thinking! Even though this is a collection of chapters and not it's own story, we still get all of the intense emotions, sadness, anger and happiness we got in the original trilogy. My favorites are the Colton and Becks "bromance" moments. Colton and Rylee fans will NOT be disappointed.

This book is an okay version of the old "twin trade" game. Two women who are twins decide to swap lives for a while. Not a huge fan of this trope, but it works okay. Not great, but not terrible either.

If you decide to read it, hope you enjoy it.

Raced is like the extended edition of your favorite movie. You already love it so anything more is just going to be icing on the cake. The novella, or mini-book, is a collection of deleted scenes and alternate Colton povs. It’s broken into three parts, each one devoted to one of the books in the Driven Trilogy. Each chapter begins with an introduction by Bromberg as well as the chapter and location it relates to in the coordinating book.

What a treat! Anyone craving a Colton fix will be thrilled to get inside his head again. Each pov takes place at a pivotal moment in Colton and Rylee’s relationship, from their initial encounter at the charity auction:

You hear addicts say that their first line of coke is what hooks them, causes them to do irrational things for the next fix. I finally get it.

The fight scene near the end of Fueled:

How could she really believe I’d want something more when I have her? Perfection. Necessity. The Holy motherfucking Grail.

And their first attempt at being physical after Colton returns from the hospital. A scene hot enough to scorch your Kindle:

And between her wetness on my fingers and the memories of her gripping my dick has me pre-coming like a fucking adolescent school boy but fuck me, I’ll take it. I’ll take anything I can get from her because Rylee? She’s fucking everything.

I loved that we also got scenes not previously shown in the novel. Like Colton and Becks writing “romantic” poetry in Nashville and Colton’s father bringing up the idea of marriage. While I do wish we had gotten a peak at Colton and Rylee’s lives during the ten years between the last chapter of Crashed and the epilogue, I understand that it would have been a monumental undertaking to try and recap a decade.

I can’t imagine any fan of the Driven Trilogy not falling head over heels for Raced. This novella is the result of countless fans that just couldn’t say goodbye to the series they fell in love with. Hopefully Raced helps ease the hurt of finally having to let go. What a fantastic conclusion to an amazing series.

IT WAS SOOOOO MUCH MORE THAN GOOD!!! IT WAS 5 CHECKERED FLAG AMAZING! This is a companion of Colton's POV of some of the highlights in the Driven series. If you have read that series and are worried about repeats, don't be. There is some new times that Ryle didn't even know about behind the scenes that happen in this book only. So if there is only a little bit of new, how do I know without a doubt in my mind it was a 5 star read? Especially since I already knew their journey and a lot of this is just what Colton was thinking during those times, what still made it that great? K Bromberg + Colton Ace F*cking Donovan = 5 Checkered Flag stars. I smiled, laughed, sad cried, happy cried & fell in love with Ace & racing all over again. I waited after the Driven series to read this closer to Sweet Ache thinking it would remind me how much I love this series. I didn't need the reminder, I never will when it comes to Colton & Ry & the gang. It doesn't get any better in my opinion and I so needed that. Want a sure thing, cause K Bromberg will damn sure deliver!

We all love Colton and Rylee in the 'Driven' series. This Donavan POV is a huge disappointment to me. It was just some scenes lifted from few chapters from the three books, written as Colton's thoughts. His thoughts centered around his prowess with women, how he likes to be 'sucked off' by his latest bimbo, but how he will not mind Rylee doing him, and on and on and on. Interspersed with these are a lot of f***s. He was swearing profusely. His schizophrenic dillying dallying was evident, but he is glorifies that with his issues. His thoughts were very shallow and repetitive. How this is a POV meaty enough to be sold at the price it went beats me. It should have been free, and having read this book, I don't think I would have touched it with a ten foot pole.

This has become the norm. Authors writing a fourth book, with the hero's POV. Most of them are like this, but some are well worth it. Not this one though. No.

I'm so glad I bought the boxset when they had the limited sale. This book is woven throughout the 3 books. Had it not been added, I don't know if I would have picked it up on its own. I might have though because I would have been curious to see some of the events through Coltons eye. None the less really loved this addition to their story!
