I enjoyed this for the richness of the study on Edwardian life. It is a Cinderella story, or Beauty and the Beast, but the happy ever after is elusive which does give it a little more character. I enjoyed the read, but at times the main character just really made me want t reach out and shake her, tell her to grow up. Her husband also needed a hefty dose of getting over his own self pity. Sounds like I shoudl have hated it, but I didn't. The richness of its setting offset its deficiencies.

Great Read. 1st book by this Author.

What a great Read, had to give it a 5 star rating. Very down to earth story line. Really got lost in a very thoughtfully told story.

About a young woman who w as born out of wedlock, was bullied by those around her but made a name for herself to be a ladies maid. However, things don't go to plan for her as she falls in love with an engaged Viscount and gets pregnant with his child.
She marries the Viscount's stepfather to give her child a name however marriage to him was anything but happy.
To me this story spoke volumes of wanting to be accepted and loved.

Bought in the hope of it having the same magic that Song of Songs had. It didn't for me, but is deserving of a re-read.
