Rose Boy has trained twenty-four years to be the best assassin this world has ever known. Tonight he will take revenge on the indomitable ruler who killed his love. Even if it costs him his life.
Author sent me a free copy of this. It was okay. Didn't really draw me in enough to want to read more, which I think this was supposed to be a reader magnet.
I feel like it should have been better, but it felt pretentious and formulaic. Although I can't say I exactly saw the ending coming. That was a fine twist, if a little convenient. In the interest of not giving any spoilers, that's all I'll say about that.
I don't remember much, if any, profanity, but there is plenty of violence, and references to some unsavory activities. I'd give it a PG-17 content rating.
A fast-paced dark fantasy novella with a well placed plot twist. I enjoyed the descriptive first person narrative, especially the combat, which can get repetitive and feel like "filler" in the hands of other authors in the genre.
Yes, I figured that his girlfriend would still be alive, but the murder/suicide ending ... yeah ... sucky. Also, since she died via poison, then the next person who comes along will just start the cycle all over again. D u h.
Thank goodness it was a short book.

A very nicely done dystopian fantasy (if that's not an official genre it should be) with strong writing, well drawn characters and an excellent plot. Definitely recommended.
First, it's a great short story. A boy who losses his love and dedicates his life to become an ultimate assassin, to take revenge on the man who killed her. As soon as I started reading it was hard for me to quit. It starts with him coming back home. It goes through the process of current events but has flashbacks when you start to wonder why or how. Every time I found myself wondering or questioning, how or why, a flashback or memory per say, the story explained it. I really enjoyed that. Now it doesn't go into great detail of his training, but it explains it enough. Very descriptive, action filled and detailed. I really liked how and why he had what he had, climbing, poison...etc. A lot of flashbacks/memories, but those helped the story. You travel with Rose Boy and share his memories, as why he is doing what he is doing. I'd love to read more about his adventures and training that took place along his journey to become who he is. If you liked this short story, I would suggest reading THE DESTROYER. Both are good reads, check them out!

I do not usually read this kind of book but I really loved it. I like that it had the back story along with what was going on in his present day life. The ending was unexpected but awesome.
I loved it. This actually quite short, yet amazing. Full of suspense and the most surprising ending I have had the privilege to read in a long, long time. Please keep writing Mr Earle.
At the beginning I was thinking "princess bride" with the princess and a common lad. Yet it turned into something darker. I enjoyed the story, only wish it was longer.
Wow! When sit down to read this book, I found I needed a drink, snacks, and a comfortable kick back chair. I opened the pages and the detail the author set for me, pulled me in. I couldn’t walk away. The details made me feel like I was walking around with Rose Boy. His past and his present shown to me. So many things kept me tied to my chair as I read along. I so badly wanted something to drink, but I was afraid I miss something. I was at a theater watching this play on a big screen. Rose Boy was my only company as we went on a journey of revenge. Like most short stories, I hated that it had to come to an end. I was knocked over by the ending. When under the table with Rose Boy and the truth was told to me on who he was to kill for his revenge of his love. WOW!
I find myself adding other books of the authors to my read list. Thank you for letting me read your story.
