SIMPLE STORIES THAT ILLUSTRATE DIFFERENT EMOTIONS.
My wife bought this because it was recommended for autistic children to teach them about emotions. In the last two weeks, I've read it to my son at least 30 times and he loves it.
It's pretty entertaining to read out loud and the art is cute. Alligator keeps getting madder and madder until he pinches Bear and makes him cry. Bear cries, Alligator feels bad, and they team up on a project.
I don't know how effective it teaches emotion, though. My son thinks it's hilarious when Alligator gets madder and madder. He does take the deep breaths when Alligator is trying to calm down, though.
I bought a pack of these books to help my kids understand their emotions better. Alligator gets angry at a friend but realizes he should have reacted in a different way and apologizes for his behavior.
3.5 stars. This did a good job at identifying anger, labeling the feeling and how it can feel in your body. Just missed the mark on ways of calming down.
I loved the beginning of this book and it has lovely illustrations- but not sure of the ending with the alligator just apologising and bear moving on… seems a weird ending.
