Chased: Part One

Rate this book
Being a twenty-one-year-old screw-up has its perks. I can sleepwalk through class, drink all day and nail anything that walks.

Easy f#$%*ing peasy.

Sure, I used to be the fastest guy at Fielding College. I’ve broken more track records than anyone on the West Coast. But my life as an athlete feels like a different universe. A different Chase Owens.

Since my world fell apart last year, all I want is to be left the hell alone.

Ariel Hastings isn't just a wrench in that plan, she’s a bomb. The quiet girl shows up out of nowhere and suddenly our fates are tied together. She wants to run with me, learn from me, even live with me…

Basically everything but f*ck me.

Now I’m spending too much time around her. I’m craving something she won’t give me and I sure as hell can’t ask for.

Because we’ve both got pasts that aren’t ready to let go. Even if I can survive hers, I know we can’t outrun mine.

CHASED includes 2 parts (approx 35k words each) with an HEA. It’s 2 POV mostly male with f-bombs and steamy scenes. For 18+

Chased is a steamy, dramatic and a little over-the-top story about two college athletes from different worlds. Ariel wants her spot on the team back. Chase is looking for redemption. Throw them together and what do you get? Fights, sparks, and a whole lot of endurance jokes.

If you've read my Travesty stuff, Chased is more angsty and has some suspense thrown in. BUT, it still has some fun and steamy moments (because, let's be honest, that's why I love to write :))

Read a fun excerpt!

CHASED

4 stars

I enjoyed a lot the other books by the author Piper Lawson. So as soon as I heard about CHASED I instantly put it in my TBR list.

This book is about Chase and Ariel. Both of them got kicked out of the tracking team and have to work together to got a chance to go back.

I liked Chase. He's that kind of guy who is funny and hot and can be mistaken by a pain in the ass and a jerk, but in the end he's a great person. He used to like to sleep around so when he got so overprotective about Ariel it was so cute.

As I usually post at my reviews, my favorite kind of female character is the ones that are stronger and are not afraid to speak what they want. And although Ariel is kinda shy and quiet, she never accept bullshit from anyone.

What I like the most was the development of their friendship. It wasn't fast, it wasn't like love at first sight.  It was growing along with the story and they were realizing the like each other.

And what about that sex scenes? OMG!!!! Hot. Really hot. Chase is a guy who knows what he's doing. Lol Even when they were just provoking it was good.

CHASED is a book with a lil bit of comedy and drama. This story is divided in 2 parts and if you get to the ending of part 1 and don't have part 2 you'll feel crazy because of that cliffhanger. I just came here to write this. I'm going back to book 2 now. Bye.

PS: I like Amos. I want his book, too.

Ganhei o ARC da autora. Obrigada!

CHASED

4 estrelas

OMG!!!! Quente. Bota quente nisso. Chase é um cara com a pegada. Rsrs.

Tô voltando pra continuar a parte 2. Bye.

PS: gostei do Amos. Teremos um livro dele?

For this true romantic at heart, it never sits well to start a romance book with the leading man having graphic sexcapades with anyone other than the leading lady, especially after meeting/being attracted to the heroine. After all, I read romance for the main couple to be together, not to see the heroine on the sidelines having to witness that type of scenario. It is even moreso irritating when said hero is obviously just using the other woman, no plans of ever having a meaningful relationship with her. Especially after the hero kisses the heroine and invites her to stay in his absent roommate’s bedroom while they train cross-country together. Yeah, I think you’ve likely picked up on that’s how Part 1 begins. This is where I should admit it made me not like Chase’s character in the very beginning.

Finally, Ashley is out of the picture, and it is just Chase and Ariel. Not surprisingly, it doesn’t take long for them to start giving into their attraction. With some witty banter, interesting sub-characters (mainly Tor and Amos), and surprising twists and turns resulting from Chase’s past, this new adult sports themed romance does stay engaging, except for the occasional too numerous steamy scenes with lusty language that hijack the storyline. I guess you could say they were making up for lost time due to Ashley’s unnecessary, unwanted presence in the very beginning. I could have almost lived without Ariel’s father’s surprise visit while Chase was at her apartment. That just seemed, well, wrong. Wish I could wipe that image away and pretend it never happened.

Since I received an ARC that contained Part 1 and 2, I read them back to back. Naturally, Part 1 ends with a cliffhanger, so I was fortunate I could immediately jump into Part 2. It concludes with Chase having to confront his past and his abusive, criminal father.

Overall, I’m a little at a loss on how to rate this book. Mainly because I can’t shake the feeling it seemed like a collage of other books I’ve read in the romance genre, except the hero is usually a MMA fighter, not a college track athlete. Here’s to hoping it won’t feel the same to you.

Title: Chased: Part 1: Pages 130, Part 2: Pages: 150, Author: Piper Lawson, not a stand-alone, lots of VERY graphic steamy scenes with lusty language that sometimes hijack the storyline, subplot involving hero’s abusive past/father, some violence, eventual HEA.

This series was pretty damn awesome! I absolutely loved Chased, everything was so freaking good! The plot, the characters, everything, I don't have a single complaint. I enjoyed this hell of a ride!

Chase had a troubled past, he doesn't let people in easily. After an incident he drops from his racing team and his only chance at getting back in the team is to train Ariel Hastings. Reluctant at first, he finally agrees. The more he spends time with him, he becomes enamored with her and the feelings start to seem quite mutual until his past starts to haunt him back. Will he fight back or run away and risk loosing everything he has, including Ariel?

At first, I'm going to talk about Part 1. I loved Chase from the beginning. Even with a hard exterior, the guy really cared for the people he loved. I loved their passion for running and that they would do anything rectify their mistakes. They were both flawed and intense characters and I enjoyed reading both their POVs. The slow burning build up between Ariel and Chase was really great. Their chemistry was awesome and I freaking loved the romance between them. There's also a little bit of mystery aspect in the book which is more explored in part 2.

Review for Part 1 and Part 2

When I requested this book from NetGalley I wasn’t 100% sure that it would feature part 1 and 2 but good thing it did because I don’t if I could wait for Part 2. My biggest problem when books are split like this is that most of the times there is no reason to stop, it could be one book only, but then we have to wait months for Part 2 (believe me, it already happened to me once. Also, I loved Part 2 way more than 1, and both complemented each other pretty well, but if I didn’t had both parts my rating would be lower.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Ariel might look like a really shy person but she still stands for herself and fights for what she wants. Chase was a complex character and while he might look like a jerk at first he really cares about the people he loves. Both of them had difficult things happening to them in their past but it was worst for Chase and his past is the main reason he is like he is. Their relationship development was pretty amazing too. I love how they started as friends and trying to help each other reaching their objectives and only then it developed something more. I also liked to see them finding stuff about each other a lot. This is one of that books when you actually see the main characters talking about a lot of things.

Part 2 of this book really surprised me because I wasn’t expecting it to take a dark turn but I loved it anyway and it was something that help the characters development a little bit more. Another thing I loved was the writing and the dual POV. My only big problem is that in the beginning the introduction of the characters was too fast. I would love if the first chapters were a little bit slower.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read. If you love new adult romances with some dark twists you should give this one a try (but get both parts at the same time so you don’t have to wait to read everything :D ).

I received a copy from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved this book. I love the characters. Chase is definitely boyfriend material. He is scarred, protective, and caring to the people he loves. He is also handsome, and sexy as hell. I just love him, and he is so arrogant. Ariel is a pre-law student, trying to make the track team. The condition in order to get on the team Is to train with Chase.

This is a enemies-to-lovers story. Chase and Ariel meet at the track coach's office and are forced to train together. They meet again at a party, and her roommate kicked Ariel out of the dorm when Chase kissed Ariel at the party. Chase offers his roommate's room for her to sleep in. They start to spend time together while training and when they are not training and they begin to like each other.

Their relationship is unexpected. They did not expect to have such strong feeling for each other. The ending was good, but could have been better. The ending was a bit cliffhangerish, so I can't wait for Chased Part 2. I am a fan of Piper Lawson. Thank you Piper Lawson for letting read this book. Overall, a quick romance with some steamy scenes.

Chased was an 'up and down' book for me. It started and I got hooked, then it went down a bit and I felt indifferent, to then go up again... You get the idea. I didn't know which way I was going and began to feel sea sick.

Still Chased isn't a bad book either. I do like Piper's writing style and she had this way of getting me to keep going even when I wonder why. Chased isn't her best work I don't feel but its not a bad read either. Its more of a novella it felt to me in that its a quick read and you are left on a slight cliff hanger too.

I did like that we were told the story from Chase's point of view which made for a refreshing read. We don't really got too much info on good old chase which is a shame as I wanted to know more about him. Ariel isn't a bad lass either. She's actually quite funny and surprised me more than once.

The whole ending felt a bit, almost silly after the 'Ariel' thing towards the end (I'm talking about the comment at the end with chase - no spoilers here), but I will read more of these books.

Definitely a series to follow though, I'm interested to see where it leads! 3.5 stars.

Chased a good NA story with a lot of sexy scenes Nd I like the characters. I wish some things were given more emphasis though. That way I could have related more and gotten more hooked.

But overal, I enjoyed it! I always love a cocky hero and if he is into any kind of sport even better!

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this part 1 of Chased! Ariel and Chase are really convoluted characters who have layers of mystery and intensity. I also love the running aspect since I used to be a runner, so I can relate a lot of my history with that part of the book. The chemistry and tension between these two characters is off the charts and it was only a matter of time before they caved into temptation.

I'm also really enjoying the mystery, creepiness of this story - again, not something I was expecting so overall I'm very glad that 1, I finally got around to reading this book and 2, I have part 2 to finish this story!

I'm not a fan of RS in general, and this easily would have been a 4 star read for me without the suspense portion of the book. I REALLY like this author's writing style, and since this is one of her earlier works I definitely look forward to reading more from her.

Chased is a truly explosive and intriguing start to a new series. Chase and Ari know how to go through the paces and make it to the finish line leaving euphoric fans salivating and cheering in the distance. I absolutely adore the beginning of Chase and Ariel’s story. It is fast paced but slow enough to enjoy the juicy parts along with falling in love with them. Piper Lawson delivers the right amount of story, with interesting and complex characters that have plenty of sizzling sexual tension.

Chase Owens is a hot track star in his senior year at Fielding College who has been running from his demons for years. After messing up last year, he is back and begging to be back on the track team. When the coach gives him an ultimatum that includes the beautiful rich girl Ariel Hastings, that’s when things get dicey. Snobby rich girls are not his thing, if only he could stop thinking about her. In order for Ariel to become faster and have a spot on the team, she has to be around the handsome, arrogant Chase. Ariel has lived a guilt ridden life and has been chasing demons of her own. She is not a team player but only feels free when she is running. The reader gets to see the slow burn that develops between Ariel and Chase once they realize they have more in common than they first thought. The walls of misconception come tumbling around them and they can no longer deny their chemistry.

Piper Lawson takes this college romance to a whole new level by adding an element of surprise and mystery. Also writing the story in Chase’s voice was unique and I loved being inside his head. The things that he thought were humorous and often times stimulating. Chase and Aria’s love story is captivating, sexy, and touches your heart. I highly recommend for lovers of sweet, steamy and suspenseful romance.

*I received an eARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.*

Chased was a pretty fun read. It's actually a novella and there's going to four parts in this series. Chased is told in Case's POV, the whole book in a male point-of-view. Chase Owens is a hot track star in his senior year at Fielding College but he's out of his team because he messed up pretty big last year. He will only be allowed in the team if he can train and decrease the timing of the beautiful and rich Ariel Hastings. They are totally different and they also come from different backgrounds but they have no way out of this other than to work together.

Chase had a terrible past that he wants to forget. And Ariel is the first girl who actually sees through him. Although at first they are both reluctant to work together but as they both get to know each other they find that they are more similar than they thought. There was sizzling chemistry between them and I loved the slow burn romance. I enjoyed the banters between them as well, it was pretty enjoyable. I definitely liked the mysterious aspect of this book. I thought it got over too quickly when they found and rescued Ariel from the kidnapper but I was right, there's something more shady going on behind all that. I can't wait to find what it is!

Overall, Chased was an enjoyable read and it was pretty fast paced, it's a great start to a series. It had all the elements that I enjoy in an NA book, the plot and the characters were pretty good. I enjoyed the chemistry between the Chase and Ariel and I can't get enough of them. I enjoyed reading this book very much. Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Recommend it?

Definitely yes for NA lovers!

**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**

This part serves more so as an introduction. You have the boy meeting the girl and you learn a little bit about who they are as people.

It started a little rough for me simply because Chase is a bit of an arsehole and I was having a hard time finding his redeeming qualities. BUT, as I read more and learned more about Chase's background, I really warmed up to his character. He has great character growth from start to finish. It takes a good writer to make you like a character you initially disliked so props to Piper for that one.

And that's what Part 1 is: the development of Chase and Ariel's characters as they explore this new relationship between them. It's really sweet and gets very addicting, especially near the end.

A cute but edgier New Adult read that's worth a read.

description

First of all let me just say that I’m glad that Netgalley provided both parts of this book, because I would have been seriously pissed if I had only gotten the first one. Mostly because each book by itself is clearly not complete, but also part 2 is way better in terms of plot and story.

I really appreciated the writing, even though the book starts a bit fast and jumps right into the story, without easing into it, the writing is compelling, and it had me on the edge of my seat. Also, the steamy hot scenes? So very good!

I ended up really liking the characters. Both Chase and Ariel are deep complex characters, and even though the story goes deeper into Chase’s story, Ariel still has a lot of layers. It was awesome to see them discovering stuff about each other, and falling in love. Even though there’s an instant attraction, there isn’t instalove, which I really appreciated. Also, the little drama about doubts about their feelings is almost non-existent.

There’s definitly a lot of action and a lot going on in this book. It got me hooked! It’s definitly a bit more than just a NA romance, so I would definitly recommend it. But be sure to get both parts

I got this book from net gallery for an honest review.

Part 1

This book centres around Ariel and Chase. Both are track runners but neither make the team therefore, the coach tells them to train together for two weeks. Chase refuses to train with Ariel because he likes to run alone.

Chase finds himself at a party and is blown away by Ariel who is looking damn sexy in her dress. He kisses her but she eventually pushes him away. Poor Ariel is thrown out of her apartment due to previous events and Chase finds himself offering her a place to stay for the night.

Chase is guarded about his past and he isn't a commitment type of guy. Ariel, with great persistence and determination manages to get around Chase's stubborn behaviour. They become friends but the sexual tension between them is undeniable yet intense.

I Thoroughly enjoyed part 1. Chase has a difficult past which he is literally running from. Strangely enough, he feels comfortable sharing his past with Ariel but doesn't understand why he is so drawn to her but bottom line is he doesn't feel good enough for her. You discover a lot about Chase's emotional state of mind in part 1 and it should be interesting to see how his and Ariel's character develop through part 2.

Piper has another great series added to her list. Her writing has you turning the page for more. It has a great flow with wonderful characters. "Chased" is a college romance with great friends, family, lots of feelings, humor and some suspense/mystery throw in. Chase and Ariel need to get back on the track team for different reasons. When their coach makes them a deal - is Chase really into what the coach whats. Chase is a loving protective person to the ones who know him and the ones he loves, but others see him differently. He comes from a different life than most and because of that he never feels like he deserves someone having feelings for him. As Ariel and Chase spend more time together she begins to see what he is truly about. Ariel opens up about her past, while Chase still has a secret that he keeps from her. As trust and feelings come into their lives so does an attacker who makes a questionable statement - but just who is really behind it??? Now I'm off to read Chased: Part 2.

This is my first book by Piper Lawson and it was a steamy, romantic and emotional but fun-filled ride.

This is the story of Chase & Ariel, two individuals with the same passion - running and thrown together due to circumstances.

Chase has a past and so does Ariel. Chase has many accolades to his name but an incident throws him offtrack and he has to train Ariel to do better, so both of them can get back to the track - that's the deal coach has given Chase.

Now, Chase doesn't want to do that! But Ariel wants his help and can he refuse it? While both started off with bantering, their friendship grows and how they get over their problems or do they, is the story.

If you want a good story, with the right amount of steam, drama and fun, you've got that with Chase Series. A quick, short and sexy read!

**I read the boxed series with both parts. If you are reading them individually, this is first part and you will have their journey's conclusion in the second part.

The version I got from Netgalley for review is actually Chased parts 1 & 2, but it's not on goodreads so I'm posting my review here. There's way more to the story of Chased than I expected from the blurb. I was expecting a pretty standard New Adult college romance, but Chase has some pretty big secrets in his past, and they catch up with him in these books, making for an exciting and action-packed story. Lawson finds a perfect balance between strong, sexy, romantic, interesting and addictive in her writing. Her characters draw you in and get you hooked from practically the first page, and the chemistry between her two MCs is off the charts. I started this book with pretty low expectations, but it wasn't long before I was feverishly turning the pages, unable to put it down and so so glad that the version I got has both parts!

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author for an honest review. My reviews are always spoiler free.

Chase has just been given a lifeline to get a place back on the track team, in the form of coaching Ariel who is just about to lose her spot. He's not impressed with coach's decision and is about to give up. Neither want to spend time with the other.

A chance meeting at a party throws the two together in unusual circumstances, and Ariel finds herself staying with Chase and the training begins. They both want back on the track team.

A few twists keeps this story interesting, a case of two total opposite characters finding common ground. A nice little cliffhanger ending to keep you guessing. Looking forward to the rest of the story in part 2.

Chased is on extra good collage read. Yes it is short it does ends with cliffhanger, but is also very good written with interesting characters and interesting storyline which leaves you wanting for more. Chase is a really selfish bastard but he also stars to become more likable after in his life comes Ariel. Although becoming from rich family she is girl down to earth with her own problems. And on one of the problems the solution is Chase. I love their chemistry I loved the teasing from the author. How they can stay away from each other. Unfortunately the story ends with cliffhanger and I can wait to read what happens next

Chase is the track guy everyone enveys....but after a troubled year he is off the team. He is trying to convince coach to give him another chance when he is forced to spend time training Ariel, the "poor little rich girl" in the same position...trying to get back on the team. They may both come from different backgrounds, but they are both struggling and find help in each other.

There is a bit of everything in this book...mystery, laughter, romance and some twists in the story to keep you wondering. Told from Chase's point of view makes it refreshingly different. Looking forward to the next installmen

I loved it. Every second of it! Amazing read. I need the next book now!

I loved that the entire book is written in Chase's POV. It's quite a different read then the normal female POV, and I really enjoyed getting a peek inside his head. Chase is a bit of a bad boy from the wrong side of town, and Ariel is a rich girl trying to run track. Chase is an amazing runner and ends up coaching her to speed up her 10k record. The two have amazing chemistry and compliment each other extremely well. Really looking forward to reading the next 3 book in the series!! Can't wait! Thanks again for the ARC!

Chase and Ariel, what an unlikely pair but yet, they need each other to prove that they deserve to back on their college track team. What they don’t realize is that they have more in common than they realize. They both have battled all their lives to find the love they deserve. Ariel lives with the guilt of her mother’s death following her birth. She truly isn’t sure where she fits in but finds running gives her peace.
