The McCord Brothers #3

Blame It on the Cowboy

Rate this book

Every cowboy has a wild side—all it takes is the right woman to unleash it…

All of Logan McCord's carefully laid plans erupt the day he walks in on his would-be fiancée getting…well, not so carefully laid. Tonight, just once, Logan is acting on instinct. And that instinct is telling him to say "Happy to oblige" to the cute stranger looking for a no-strings fling with a Texas cowboy.

When chef Reese Stephens made her bucket list, she mistakenly thought she had weeks to live. Not that she regrets her one-night-stand with the gorgeous rancher. But she does regret leaving an heirloom watch as a parting gift. Tracking Logan down is easy. Walking away again is another matter. Because Reese's crazy past and Logan's battered heart are no match for the kind of chemistry that could turn one night into the start of a passionate lifetime.

I'm definitely the minority here because while everyone seems to love this book, I'm more like

I wanted to really like this one but it just wasn't there. I never felt the love between both H/h and I hate that. Their relationship never felt like a relationship and Reese spends 90% of the book talking about leaving or trying to leave. It also ends as a HFN since she's a huge flight risk.

Logan is closed off and undecided about what he wants with Reese and I prefer that my H show he wants his h well before the last few chapters.

Reese's past was drawn out, after everything from her past came to light I was really hoping I was going to have major book feels.

Once again though it was a complete disappointment. Ok so I don't want to bash this whole book because I do like the author and her previous books but this one fell flat to me. I am interested in the first 2 books so I'll read those. Ok moving on.

I want to hang out with Delores Fossen. I absolutely love her. What a versatile writer! She can leave me biting my nails with her romantic suspense stories and laughing out loud with her contemporary romance. Especially her McCord Bros. series. I adore them all but I think her newest, Blame It On The Cowboy, may be my favorite.

Logan McCord, CEO of McCord Cattle Brokers, was not considered wild. He'd never done anything to tarnish the family name. But when he walks in on his girlfriend Helene, the perfect woman he was ready to propose to, and finds her boinking a clown, he finds himself making choices completely out of character. On a drunken bender, he ends up sitting next to a pink haired, tattooed woman in a turtle shirt playing word games. When she slips him her room key and offers "one night and we'll never tell another soul about it", he's more than willing to take her on.
Reese Stephens, thinking she's dying, has made a bucket list. One that ends with sex with a hot cowboy. A hot cowboy who ends up being the only bright spot in her whole dismal situation. So she leaves him with her most precious possession, a busted up pocket watch. After discovering that she is as healthy as a horse, she's determined to retrieve that watch. When she catches up with Logan again, the sparks fly. But Logan is recovering from a broken heart and Reese's past could destroy his reputation. If she stays, they'll end up in bed again. Will he run for the hills, or will she?

This was a spectacularly written book. What a perfect blend of happy, romantic, sweet, hilarious, steamy and deeper tender moments that melt your heart. There was lots of snorting and chuckling along with my ooohs and aaahs. I fell in love with the entire town of Spring Hill, Texas. Like many small towns, gossip abounds but they stick together when it counts. These townsfolk had me crying with hysterics. From Maggie's uncooperative uterus, to the sexual uses of a clown nose, to new vocabulary like hick dead, this town will take you on a laughing journey. I even loved the bad guys. And they were coming out in droves. They were just smarmy enough to be endearingly funny. Everyone had secrets and they were ripe for the picking. The blackmailers were even conning each other in consistently amusing and surprising setups. Through it all, Logan and Reese are scrambling to protect each other and hopefully save their burgeoning romance. And of course, I got to be reunited and catch up with the rest of the McCord family. Though part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. Trust me though, this family will capture your heart and you'll want to read the entire wonderful series. Favorite Quotes:

Jimena stood out partly because she was stunning. Also partly because she drank like a fish, cursed like a sailor and ate like a pig.

The man moved like a cartoon character who drank an hourly six-pack of Red Bull.

He said her name as if she were a persistent toenail fungus.

Deputy Davy Devine looked like a zombie and had the IQ of a shrimp. He could start a brawl just by showing up on the scene.

It's hard not to have man-baggage once you're past twenty-one, but all it takes is one good man to help you put that baggage away for good.

I was raised by con artists. We would have had to come up in status to be called trailer trash.

My Review:

This was my first experience in reading Delores Fossen and I found it to be a highly enjoyable and pleasant experience. Her characters were fresh, complicated, and amusingly described. The story was multi-layered and the writing was engaging and entertaining. The storyline and the characters intrigued me, nothing was predictable. For a supposedly low crime rate small town, it was a hotbed of gossip and riddled with blackmail, but if you have ever lived in a small town, you would know that reputation is everything... my mother's constant rebuke was "What would people think?!?" Sigh. I enjoyed the book and found the characters likable, complicated, realistically flawed, and compelling. The story was relevant and laced with humor, insightful and observant details, and lots of juicy secrets that were peeled back one layer at a time. The suspense was well-paced and kept me engaged throughout. This was the third installment in the series but had strong legs and stood well on its own, although I would love to go backward and read the previous books of the younger brothers' stories.

BLAME IT ON THE COWBOY is a very enjoyable, entertaining and well-written mix of romance, passion, sweetness and drama, with lots of hilarious moments. Honestly, I would love to know what was going through Ms. Fossen's mind during her research for this book because she apparently takes her research very seriously. Some of the descriptions were so funny, I found myself erupting into laughter several times, which makes this a winner, in my opinion.

After eight years with his girlfriend, Logan McCord's next step was to make it official by proposing but that didn't go so well. Drowning his sorrows in some top-shelf liquor led to meeting a stranger who rocked his world for one night, only for her to turn up in his town a few months later. For a man of his wealth and connections, she could be a problem but he can't resist her.

Reese Stephens is in Spring Hill, Texas to retrieve an important item she had left with Logan when she thought she was dying, a misconception that led to a bucket list and some of the best sex of her life. However, for someone who never stays in one place long enough to plant roots, she's not in a hurry to leave Spring Hill and Logan is a big part of that. But her past soon catches up with her and she has to decide if she'll stay and fight for Logan against the woman who betrayed him, or if she'll let her past drive her away from what could be her future?

Reese may not be the woman for Logan, but she is what he needs and he's not going to let her past or the return of his scheming ex run her out of town.

This town is off the chain and these people left me in tears from laughing so hard. With clowns and sketchy characters up to no good, and the entire town up in their business, it felt like you needed a flow chart to keep up, but in a very funny way. And did I mention Reese's best friend? She needs her own book, stat!

I have been looking forward to this book since I finished the previous one and I can say that it exceeded my expectations. The good thing is it can totally be read as a stand-alone, so I highly recommend grabbing a copy right away!

Terrific conclusion to the McCord Brothers series. This is the story of Logan, the oldest brother (by a few minutes). In previous books we have seen him as the serious, conservative, rather stick-in-the-mud brother, who keeps tight control of his emotions. He's had a long relationship with a woman named Helene, who he sees as the perfect accompaniment to his well-planned future. At the beginning of this book he is ready to propose marriage to her, and enlist the help of his family to make it memorable. Which it is, but not in the way he expected, as they walk in on her having sex with a clown. Stunned by what happened, he escapes to San Antonio with the express intention of getting drunk enough to forget what he saw. There he meets a woman with her own agenda for the night.

Reese has recently been given a diagnosis that led her to believe she only has weeks to live. Determined to live it up while she can, she makes a bucket list of things she wants to do, one of which is a fling with a hot cowboy. The stranger in the bar fits the description perfectly and she makes him an offer he can't refuse. After a night of passion, she leaves him her prized possession, her grandfather's pocket watch, as a thank you, only to discover later that she isn't going to die after all. Now she has to try to find that cowboy and get her watch back.

The encounter between Reese and Logan after she arrives in Spring Hill is hilarious. Logan is with Lucky, his twin brother, leaving Reese unsure which brother she slept with. Logan, of course, recognizes her right away, but is extremely suspicious of her presence. He is determined to find out what she wants and get her out of town before their connection is discovered. Reese is more than willing to agree, but discovers that circumstances are working against both of them.

I loved seeing the relationship develop between these two opposites. Logan is the uptight, plan everything to the nth degree man, while Reese is a fly by the seat of her pants woman who doesn't stay anywhere for very long. Both of them also have some serious baggage holding them back. Logan lost his parents when he was nineteen and blames himself for arriving at the accident scene too late to save them. Reese is the daughter of two con artists who used her in their schemes until she was old enough to resist. She also feels responsible for the death of an abusive ex-boyfriend. Logan goes from suspicion to protectiveness as he sees her accosted by someone from her past. He realizes he doesn't really want her to leave town, but he's not so sure about a relationship with her either. However, he can't deny the attraction. Reese can't deny the attraction either, but feels that sticking around will only bring trouble Logan's way. She doesn't want her presence in his life to cause problems for him. I loved the ending as Logan sees that Reese gives him what is missing in his life. Their return to the San Antonio bar where they met is sweet, romantic and steamy.

There was so much going on that there was never a dull moment. Logan had to deal with the gossip about his breakup with Helene, and then with her return. Reese had to face multiple issues from her past showing up in Spring Hill, including her con artist mother. There are attempts to blackmail both Reese and Logan. The merry-go-round of who is blackmailing who and why is hysterical, as is the final resolution of the various attempts. I loved seeing the always on the straight and narrow Logan out con the con artists with the help and support of his family and friends. I also loved Reese's friend Jimena and her protectiveness toward Reese. Her colorful threats were fun as well as direct and to the point. I'd love to see her get her own story.

Blame it on the Cowboy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ written by Delores Fossen

When Logan McCord walked in on his girlfriend, of ten years, planning to propose to her was the surprise on him. He was accompanied with family and friends only to witness Helene engaging in sex with a clown.

This sent Logan on a binge. He left Spring Hill, Texas for San Antonio and found himself drinking alone in a bar. Logan meets a girl at the bar that is equally smashed and with her own agenda. They have a night of hot mind blowing sex each not knowing the others names. Mystery woman turns out to be Reese Stephenson a person trying to complete her bucket list by having sex with a hot cowboy. Reese had received word she was dying of brain cancer and wanted this fling. Reese has one prized possession her grandfathers pocket watch which she slips into Logan's pocket and leaves.

When Reese returns home she is greeted by her doctor informing her of a records mix up and she is not dying. She now wants to find the hot cowboy and get her grandfathers watch back.

Both Reese and Logan come with their own specific baggage. Reese is a child of parents that did con games on unsuspecting victims. She was also abused by a former boyfriend and holds herself responsible for his death. Logan lost his parent when he was nineteen in a car crash and feels if he had arrived at the accident in time he could have saved them. Reese feels herself inferior to most people and cannot overcome this feeling of inadequacy cause of her parents.

I enjoyed this story at times it was quite comical with everyone in the gossipy small town. Some of the lines were priceless and the twists and turns were a bit mind boggling if not unnecessary. At times, I felt this story just didn't flow for me and became discouraged by all the sub plots. I admired this author and have read and would certainly read more of her stories. I'm in love with all her cowboy especially the McCords.

If you happen to be in the mood for a few chuckles while you read this is a great book for you. Personally I love reading stories that give me the "chuckles" and Delores Fossen's humor in this story provides plenty of them. You have a tumor named Myrtle and a backpack named Tootsie Roll. When the heroine, Reese Stephens, aka Julia Child quit her job she told her boss, chef Dante she wished someone would crush his balls with a rusty garlic press. And when Reese's best friend, Jimena Martinelli saw a picture of the hero, Logan McCord, post one-night stand encounter with Reese, Jimena responded, "Yeah, he's hot. Like on a scale of one to ten - he's like a six-hundred kind of hot." And the chuckles just keep on coming.

We've met Logan McCord before in the previous books in the McCord Brothers series. He's the serious big brother who took responsibility for his younger siblings and the family business after the death of their parents in an auto accident. He's the staid, conservative type. Guess who sweeps him off his feet. Not so staid and conservative Reese Stephens. Maybe opposites attract - maybe not. There sure is a lot of resistance in this relationship. But Reese doesn't run and Logan loosens up. After trouble shows up in the form of Chucky Dayton and Reese's con artist mother, Vickie, Logan's ex-girlfriend, Helene and some sketchy "clowns" plus numerous blackmail attempts by various characters everything finally works out so there is a "happily-ever-after" ending to this story.

I was very impressed with the writing skills this author exhibited in the book. The storyline flowed well and was easy to follow. The characters are interesting and fun, not some cardboard cut-out boring characters. This book has been a great addition to the series, one that is a very enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed Blame It On the Cowboy. I haven't read many books by Delores Fossen but the ones that I did I really liked. After reading both Blame It On the Cowboy and Lone Star Nights I know that I will be keeping her on my auto-buy list from now on.

Up this time it's Logan McCord's turn. After a painfully episode in his life (you've got to read the book to understand. No giveaways here, okay, there is a giveaway with the tour but I was talking about information giveaways) he goes and gets drunk and meets a woman.

It will turn out to be the best thing he's ever done. Not that either will think that in the beginning. But by the end...happiness.

Reese is also dealing with something big, (my lips are sealed, read the blurb) and acts some would say rashly others romantically. Either way, she has to fix it. Poor Reese, ha!

I love these two together. Logan needs a woman like Reese, someone that stands strong. More then once I had to chuckle at these two. This is a wonderful story that is so well-written that you won't want to put down until your down. Even then you'll continue to think about it. I'm so very glad that I read it.

Ms Fossen is a very talented writer indeed who brings laughter & romance in her books. I love the humor that she inserted in the story but I gave it 4 stars because I absolutely hate romance stories that have hero or heroine obsessed/hurt by an ex. It destroys the story for me as it makes my mind wonder about the past relationship and takes from the story unfolding. I want my Hero & heroines heart free. That's just my personal preference, but all in all, this books was funny and sweet. You will love it!

The day Logan McCord was going to surprise his long-time girlfriend with a marriage proposal was the day he walked in on her having sex with some clown. He drove the 30 miles from Spring Hill Texas to San Antonio to get drunk and try to forget. In the bar, there is also a pretty woman – so not his type! – also trying to drown her sorrows. They’re both pretty drunk, and she’s the one who suggests one night of sex with no strings attached, no names; nothing but sex. When Logan wakes up the morning after, she’s gone, but she has left him an antique pocket watch, and Logan becomes very suspicious: is she a con artist? What does she want from him? He will find her! Reese Stevens, the mystery woman, has few things left on her bucket list; the hot cowboy was one of them, that’s why she left him her most precious possession: her beloved grandfather’s gold watch. When her doctor tells her that there had been a mix-up in the files and she is not going to die, Reese has to find her hot cowboy and retrieve the heirloom, whatever it takes!

BLAME IT ON THE COWBOY is definitely not your run of the mill one-night stand novel! Even if it’s not apparent in my review, the premise is completely outrageous, that I wonder if a lesser author would have made it work, but trust Delores Fossen to pull it off superbly! In spite of the totally over-the-top beginning, it all feels real mostly because the characters are so relatable and complex. Hilarious in places, the story is multilayered and the plot quite complex: there are more twists and turns than a roller coaster ride! And amidst all the shenanigans and the perilous situations, there is an absolutely lovely romance.

Ms. Fossen is a true artist, because BLAME IT ON THE COWBOY could have been an epic fail, but it is so meticulously plotted, the characters have such depth, that the whole thing feels real, and the drunken sexual attraction slowly develops into true love in credible fashion, and especially according to a realistic timeline. BLAME IT ON THE COWBOY is wildly funny, suspenseful, but it is the beautiful romance that will melt your heart: entertainment at its finest!

This book also features a short story by Ms. Fossen, COWBOY UNDERNEATH IT ALL. It is also set in the McCord Brothers’ world, in Spring Hill Texas, and stars a friend of Lucky McCord’s. Captain Kane Bullock, after 10 years in the Air Force, comes home and finds out that his long-time girlfriend Violet is set to wed another, a High School buddy of his. However Violet’s little sister Eliza is all grown up, and to protect Kane from the shock Violet’s engagement, Eliza has told a little fib, which quickly snowballs…

COWBOY UNDERNEATH IT ALL is a totally charming story where insta everything works perfectly. Delores Fossen knows exactly just how far to go, in the precise timeframe given the context and the length of the book, to make the whole thing credible. Obviously, things happen quickly, but no suspension of disbelief is required, as the justifications for the sequence of events make perfect sense. I really enjoyed COWBOY UNDERNEATH IT ALL; it’s a quick read that will leave you smiling!

One of my favorite stories by Ms Delores Fossen yet.
This book had it all. The romance, the tasteful sex scenes, action, suspense, and a little bit of intrigue. Oh yeah and some amazingly hot cowboys.
Reese Stephens is not having the best week. So her choice is to complete the items on her bucket list which includes having sex with a hot cowboy. And in comes Logan McCord. But when that one night stand comes to completion and she heads back home her doctor shows up at her door to give her some amazing news. She's not dying. Which leads to her next thought. How is she going to find the sexy cowboy that she didn't exchange names with. In order to get her grandfathers watch back?

Logan McCord was finally ready to take the next step in his relationship with his girlfriend of eight years. He was ready to get married. That is until he walks in on his girlfriends *ahem* intense meeting in her office. Which leads Logan to drowning his sorrows which leads to him having a *ahem* meeting with Reese. But when he tries to track her down to give her back the watch he can't find her.

All of these meet up's and non name transfers of 'ownership' leads to an intense affair, a complicated meetup when Lucky enters into the equation, a nice look into how the brothers are continuing in their lives with their new families, and some great book mash ups, as well as seeing how familial involvement may be the worse thing in the world. Overall this was an amazing read and an amazing continuation of the series.

I definitely recommend this book to all Fossen lovers and to all those who are trying to find a new amazing author to read.

"You will be sold! If Spring Hill, Texas has the hot cowboys, then that is where you need to be. Staid, responsible head of the company, Logan brings the keeps Reese coming back for more. This is definitely a case of opposites attract, which Fossen does well. The author keeps you turning the page with her kooky cast of family members, friends and townies chiming in to lend a helping hand or push down. When you think you have untangled the madness, something else ridiculous pops up, and watching this couple handle it makes for great reading" (4 stars @ RT Book Reviews).

Miniseries: The McCord Brothers

Happiness. That just about sums up my overall feeling when I came to the end of Blame It on the Cowboy. It is a story that will cause you to have a weird grin on your face, just to warn you if you are reading in public. They are a fun couple who really deserve that HEA. They are written to become your friend. I, also, fell in love with Jimena and hope she will find her story at some point. If you've read the story, wasn't the way Logan wraps everything up a perfect karma-ish justice? ~ Kim

A great continuation of the McCord Brothers series! Logan and Reese were great together. Logan is serious and Reese brings him out of his funk. Reese is a sweetheart and really has no idea what a wonderful person she is. I hope this isn't the end to Spring Hill.

Blame It on the Cowboy is an entertaining addition to Delores Fossen's The McCord Brothers series. Although it is the third installment in the series, it can be read as standalone but I highly recommend the previous books as well.

After finding his girlfriend of eight years in a truly cringe-worthy compromising situation, Logan McCord is drowning his sorrows when he meets Reese Stephens. After playing a few drunken word games, Reese makes him an offer he cannot refuse and they spend one incredibly hot night together. The next morning, they both return to their normal lives with no plan to ever see each other again. Three months later, Logan is shocked to discover Reese is the newly hired cook at a local diner and naturally, he is very suspicious about why she has moved to his small hometown. Reese's reason for finding Logan is on the up and up but she understands why he might be mistrustful of her. Her plan to remain in town a few days is quickly derailed and Reese and Logan further complicate things when they give in to their simmering passion. Is there any chance for this mismatched couple to live happily ever after? Or will Reese's troubled past tear them apart?

Reese might not have many physical possessions but she has a ton of emotional baggage. The most of her problems are not of her making, but she cannot escape the guilt she feels for other people's actions. A previous relationship has left an indelible mark on her and Reese blames herself for how things finally ended between her and her ex. She has steered clear of romantic entanglements ever since, but her attraction to Logan is too strong to resist. As their lives becomes more entangled, Reese becomes more certain than ever that her somewhat sordid past will ruin Logan's reputation. When someone from her past tracks her down, her first reaction is to run away, but will Logan convince Reese to stay?

Having taken over the family business after his parents' tragic deaths when he was 19, Logan takes his responsibilities very seriously. He is a little staid but well-respected by his business associates and the people in his hometown. Surprisingly, he is not overly concerned what anyone thinks about his relationship with Reese and he is quick to try to convince her to stay in town. When his ex returns to try to repair her ruined reputation and win him back, Logan is willing to hear her out but he is not at all keen to renew their romance. As Reese's troubles continuing to spiral out of control, will he remain with her? Or will he decide to reunite with his philandering ex?

Reese and Logan's relationship often takes a backseat to the various shenanigans of people from Reese's past. At first amusing, these antics soon become tedious and a little over the top as they continue to snowball. Logan's ex is also determined to win him back so be prepared for some scheming as she tries to come between him and Reese.

When the story focuses on Reese and Logan, there is no denying the chemistry between them and their scenes together are absolutely delightful. Despite the sometimes ridiculous exploits of everyone else, things between Reese and Logan are a little intense due to Reese's rather traumatic past. They genuinely like one another and Logan is respectful of Reese's privacy once he gets to know her. Reese and Logan are a wonderful couple and it is frustrating that their romance is overshadowed by the subplots involving people from their respective pasts.

Blame It on the Cowboy is a lovely romance between two wounded protagonists. Reese and Logan's road to happily ever after is full of detours and unforeseen obstacles but in the end, love prevails as they help one another overcome the problems that have haunted them for so long. Old and new fans of Delores Fossen are going to love this latest addition to The McCord Brothers series.

Blame It On the Cowboy (The McCord Brothers #3) by Delores Fossen
HQN, 2016
Romance; 384 pgs
Copy of book provided by publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

One night stand scenarios that turn into love are not my favorite romance trope, but Delores Fossen won me over pretty quickly. Both rancher Logan McCord and chef Reese Stephens are both in crisis: Logan from finding his girlfriend having sex with another man just as he was hoping to propose to her, and Reese is fulfilling an item on her bucket list (to have sex with a "hot cowboy"), having just been diagnosed with a brain tumor, her death being imminent. The two meet in a bar and fall into bed shortly thereafter. No names are exchanged, not even identifying details. The morning after, Logan sees Reese slip something into his pocket. It turns out to be an antique pocket watch.

Months pass before their paths cross again. Reese's diagnosis had been a mistake, and she is as healthy as can be. She's slowly getting her life back together. The watch means everything to her, having once been her grandfather's. She sets out to find the "Hot Cowboy" based on very few clues. Logan is suspicious when he sees Reese again, sure she is up to no good. The two do not exactly get off to a good second start. He's from money. She's got a shady background and comes from the wrong side of the tracks. Neither of them are looking for love, but the attraction between them is undeniable.

While Blame It On a Cowboy may appear to be a straight forward cowboy romance, Delores Fossen takes it to another level, adding intrigue and suspense that had me turning pages late into the night. I just had to know what was going to happen next. Reese's past catches up with her, and it's lucky she is in the small town of Spring Hill, Texas.

Reese and Logan are great characters. They both carry regret and guilt from their pasts, however misplaced. Reese doesn't imagine a guy like Logan could want anything to do with her, much less love her. She leads a transient lifestyle, moving from town to town, never settling down for long. I liked her resourcefulness. Reese is a strong woman, having had to overcome a lot, relying mostly on herself. She does have one friend who knows all about her sordid past, the sassy and beautiful Jimena. Although I imagine they look nothing alike, Jimena reminded me of Lula from Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series.

Logan definitely comes across as that hot cowboy, as Reese and Jimena call him. It was impossible not to feel terrible for him when he walks in on his girlfriend and the clown just at the moment he is about to propose. He's angry, upset and feeling betrayed. Running his family business has always been Logan's top priority next to his family, and he loses himself even more in his work after that incident. He doesn't trust anyone easily, but when he cares about someone, he will go to great lengths to protect them.

This novel has quite a few unexpected twists and turns. I admit to thinking there might have been too many as they just kept coming--but in the end, it worked, everyone getting what they deserved. Delores Fossen's novel has a little bit of everything: romance, suspense, comedy, a bit of action, and plenty of drama. Blame It On the Cowboy is the 3rd in the McCord series, and I will definitely be looking for the earlier books I've missed.

Delores Fossen lets loose on some hometown fun and a fair amount of drama in book three of her McCord Brothers series, Blame It On The Cowboy. When a drunken one night stand brings together two of the most unlikely people, both in crisis, neither party expects to meet up again and actually feel an attraction to the other when sober and with their eyes wide open. As every shoe possible drops in this book, including clown shoes, and the word secret seems to not exist in the vocabulary of the town of Spring Hill Texas a great story unfolds. The energy between Logan and Reese was intense but tempered beautifully with well plotted comic relief. Ms. Fossen takes two very different people and conjures up a very sweet love story among the expertly written chaos of their lives!

I received an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review and here it is: 4.5 stars.

In this third novel in The McCord Brothers series, we focus on Logan McCord, who is just about to surprise his girlfriend of eight years, Helene, with an engagement ring and a marriage proposal. He's even brought along help, some of his family members who will hold up signs reading, "Will you marry me?" Knowing that Helene will be working late, they sneak into her office, only to find her in a very compromising position with, of all things, a guy in a clown suit. His reaction, go out and drink enough scotch to erase that visual image from memory.

Also tying one on that night is Reese, who sits next to Logan at the bar. She's also tying one on, with tequila, trying to forget that she'd just received notice from her doctor that she had an inoperable brain tumor and only a 2% chance to survive it. She decides that she'd better start checking off items on her bucket list, and one of those items is having one night of sex with a hot cowboy, and Logan definitely fits the bill.

When Logan wakes in the morning, Reese is gone, but he discovers that she'd placed her most prized possession, her grandfather's gold watch, into Logan's pocket. She also gets another surprise, notice that her diagnosis belonged to someone else, and she's healthy as a horse. She wants the watch back, but since neither she nor Logan exchanged their real names, now she has to track him down. Since she never stays in one place for long, trying to run from her con artist parents, and a deadly accident for which she feels responsible, she sets out to locate Logan based on the logo on the truck he was driving. What she doesn't know is that Logan has an identical twin brother, Lucky. She also has no idea that Logan has had a PI searching for her, so that he can return the watch. He's depressed and miserable over this faithless fiance and the breakup of their relationship, although he's still remembering his amazing night with the stranger, who identified herself as Julia child. Imagine his surprise several months later, when he goes out to get a hamburger and finds his quarry working at the grill in his hometown of Spring Hill. Also back in Spring Hill is Helene, and although she wants Logan back, he no longer wants or trusts her. Also entering the picture are Reese's rather loose and funny friend, Jimena, a number of unsavory, blackmailing characters from her past, including her own mother, Vickie, and the entire population of Spring Hill, all of whom are mahor gossip hounds.

My only complaint about the novel is that the title doesn't have anything to do with the story--in this book, Logan, the cowboy, is blameless.

Is this plot complicated enough enough for you? In her usual brilliantly plotted novel, Ms. Fossen makes all of these characters come alive, and she does so with drama, heartbreak, and a sense of the outrageous--by the way, just a warning, after you read this gem of a romance novel, I can promise you that you'll never be able to look at clowns the same way again.

Finally, it was time to read Logan's story, I have been waiting for this one since I liked Logan as soon as I met him in the first book of the series. There's just something about him, under all the rules and control, that was appealing to me. And this story was worth the wait!
I have never laughed so hard while reading a book as I laughed through this tale. It is not always obvious humor, definitely not a 'pie-on-your-face' humor, but the one-liners, the set ups, the characters, the gossipy little Texas town all just was set up so that I found it hilarious.
Logan and Reese both carry a considerable amount of baggage with them from their past. Reese has always coped with the problems by running away, moving on, leaving the place. But for the first time, with Logan, she feels like she might want to stay, might consider having a future, planning ahead. Logan and Reese were adorable, there was a moment that made me sigh and swoon, and moments I wanted to shake both of them to wise up. Logan's ex, she had so much room still in his life, and Reese, I wanted her to see herself like I saw her, and celebrate it, instead of hiding and running away. I loved her, and the fact that she was a pastry loving chef.
There's so much gossip on the story, it nearly is a character itself in the tale. The town is filled with hearsay, scandals, and slander. And the blackmailing that follows the gossip creates a several sub-plots, that made me wish for a diagram at times like Reese said herself.
I loved that Logan and his twin Lucky has found a closer relationship with each other. The family is a close team, now that most of them are back in town, and creating functioning adult relationships, that made me happy for them.
This is a cowboy story that shows the importance of a family, either by blood or by heart, makes you want to stop gossiping, and never look at a clown the same way.
It is a story where the characters have to take a long look in the mirror, evaluate the way they have lived, face their inner demons, grow, and build a new kind of future for themselves. It made me laugh out loud, sigh, and even tear up, the family has stolen my heart, and I hope this wasn't the last I see them without visiting the old stories.

These McCord Brothers have been so incredibly fun to read. I was waiting for Logan's story, and it certainly fit this man to a T. This man is the type of guy who likes his order. He likes function. And while his girlfriend thinks he needs to loosen up, just a little, he's willing to do it. For her.

Until he walks in on something that will stay with him for a long time... Longer than necessary, even, with the way town gossip rolls around.

Listening to Logan list what character traits were his ideal woman, and why the woman at the beginning was completely 'it' for him, I knew without a doubt that Ms. Fossen was going to through him an incredible loop by giving him a female that would keep him on his toes.

Reese. Oh, Reese. What can I say about this fun woman? What started out as mistakenly thinking she was dying, turned out to be an adventure of a lifetime. One night with a cowboy, her grandfather's watch... And then when realizing everything was a mistake, trying to find that cowboy and her grandfather's watch... She certainly wasn't prepared for the McCords.

Reese and Logan were very different than his brothers. Their story was still lovely; the emotion still strong. And while it worked with these characters, I couldn't help but feel that I was jilted in the end. I wanted a little bit more in the way their story closed out--but that's me being selfish, because like I said, the ending works for these characters.

I have absolutely enjoyed being a part of the McCord brothers journey to love. I can always count on Ms. Fossen for writing a great cowboy romance.

I have to blame this hot and kind cowboy for enjoying his story so much. Logan McCord’s future may have gone down the clown’s ass, but it only paved the way to his real life partner Reese Stephens. A one-night stand to drown their sorrows leaves them longing for more, but fate says it’s time for separation.

Yet destiny brings Reese back into Logan’s hometown and his life. But with Reese also comes past that has tainted her whole life making her move from one place to another. The attraction between Logan and Reese gives her a hope for laying down roots, yet her past and Logan’s ex seem to make it a bit difficult for them.

I think this is by far one of Delores’s best book I’ve read. Granted I love all her books, but “Blame It On The Cowboy” for the extra pizzazz, extra charisma and extra chemistry that had me falling in love with Logan and Reese. Reese is one heck of a courageous girl, smiling in the face of adversity, always putting others ahead of her, always with a helping hand and a kind heart. And Logan is the quintessential cowboy with a heart of gold, protecting his loved ones and dealing with his meddling siblings.

The entire story was fast paced, Reese’s best friend is a riot, intense passion and witty dialogues are a treasure, and the chemistry between Logan and Reese is fabulous considering they are fictional characters and all that credit goes to Delores Fossen as she gives us another entertaining love story.

Holy hot cowboys! I do love the McCord brothers. They work hard, play hard, and love intensely. Blame It On The Cowboy, the latest installment in Delores Fossen’s McCord Brothers series is about Logan McCord, the older responsible brother. An upstanding member of his community, he is the type of man that takes pride in his control. All that goes out the window the moment he meets Reese Stephens. She is so completely not his type, but after a drunken game of word association he agrees to have a night of no strings attached sex with her.

I loved Reese and Logan’s love story. They are complete opposites, but balance each other out perfectly. The two share some steamy chemistry that is downright undeniable. Although, the sexual tension between them is there from the beginning this is not an insta-love romance. Reese has skeletons in her closet that make her commitment shy and Logan is getting over a failed relationship. The two have plenty of issues to work through on their road to happily-ever-after.

Overall, Blame It On The Cowboy is a fun and enjoyable read. There were a few minor subplots I felt distracted from the main plot line, but other than that I think the story flowed well. Reese and Logan are both very likable characters and I was rooting for their HEA throughout the book. If you like romantic comedies set in a small town setting with hot cowboys then you’ll want to give this series a try.

Blame It On The Cowboy is the third installment in the McCord Brothers series and let me tell you this is a cluster f#&k of cons as either Logan or Reese said a flowchart needed to be done to keep up with who was conning who and for what. This was an interesting storyline but at times it was too much going back and forth for their own benefit. I felt so bad for Logan because from the very beginning of the series he was together with Helene and now their perfect little somewhat relationship was over. I shouldn’t be surprised because there are times that a perfect relationship never lasts because someone is not being truthful of who they truly are. Then there is Reese a beautiful woman that believes that she is dying and is ready for her death but because of a mistaken identity she received the wrong results. Now she has to undo everything that she had done and that meant she needed to look for the hot cowboy that she had a one-night stand with the one that she gave her grandfather’s watch to. Reese has a past that will be following her and possibly making Logan’s life a living hell. They are going to have to believe in one another because of the amount of cons that her past will bring is hilarious. Then you have Helene she knows she screwed up and wants Logan back but she might be a little too late because he was smitten with Reese. Even though she has turned his life upside down he can’t forget their shared kisses and their time in bed. Now he is just going to have to figure out how to make her stay and not runaway.

Blame it on the Cowboy was a wonderful end to the trilogy about the McCord brothers. This one is Logan's story. He is the serious and most career driven of the brothers. He picked up and kept the family company going after his parents died in a car accident. Reese is always on the move, trying to keep away from her con artist mother. A random meet in a bar and a one night stand changes things for both of them forever.

The story is full of laugh out loud moments and great characters. I'm not sure I will look at a red clown nose in quite the same way after reading this book. The rumor mill in that little town was nuts but so funny. I loved Logan with Reese. I was rooting for them the whole time. Their love story kept me completely engaged and I flew through the book in no time. Aside from the McCords and their women, Jimena was my favorite secondary character. She was a breath of fresh air! I would love to see her get her own book or at least a short story.

I highly recommend this series. It has all the elements that I love in stories about cowboys and the women they love. I can't wait to see what this author comes out with next!

I love this author and how she makes me react, be it laughing, crying cursing the characters or swooning at the romantic gestures, she always pulls a strong reaction from me. The plot of this novel was original, while still maintaining the essence of a small town romance. I love how vivid everything was. Fossen's beautiful descriptions combine with her intensely fulfilling storytelling for an unforgettable tale that you can't miss out on.

And the characters that step forward to take center stage here were unforgettable as well. The inner turmoil and self doubt that they both feel is so hidden by their public persona that the mix was definitely intriguing. And the chemistry between them? It was off the charts and had me drooling. These were fantastic characters that I didn't just enjoy reading about, but also loved getting to know.

I really enjoyed this entire series but this novel was above and beyond my favorite. It can easily be read on its own or as part of this fantastic series.

One of the McCord Brothers series, Logan McCord thought he was engaged--until he learned (actually saw!) how his fiance was cheating on him. He decides to soothe his tattered ego with a one-night stand offered by a woman he later learns had thought she was going to die. Hence her decision to have one night with a hot cowboy.

Trouble is, after Reese Stephens gives Logan her grandfather's watch (she won't need it after she dies), she decides to retrieve it now that she's not going to the great beyond. When she finally finds him, she discovers he's a twin and what happens next entwines them both with some other memorable characters--some funny, some hot, and some experienced con-artists. When the cons try to ruin Logan's life and reputation, Reese has to step in, but how can she help when her own mother is one of the cons? And what about the new life she's now beginning? Will she have to run away again, as she's been doing for so long? Read to find out.

Two people who feel like they have lost everything make a connection. It was supposed to be for one night. Circumstances change and Reese goes looking for Logan. When they meet again, the attraction is still there burning hot. Pasts come back to haunt both and try to pull them apart. For a woman who constantly moves, Reese feels almost like she can stay in this one place and Logan is determined to move forward with her. Blackmail, threats of violence, a large sense of humor, and the love of family, friends, and ever after made this a fun book to read. I highly recommend this book, and I will be reading about the rest of the family. This is a series but the story does stand alone.

The only couple that didn't grow up near each other out of all this series. Logan, the oldest of the McCord siblings head man of the family business have the world and more on his shoulders, what won't this man deal with daily. Even worse when he hates clowns and liers, when walking into his girlfriend office about pop the big question his fears came to life, his girlfriend lying with a clown having 'clown sex' it'll be better explained in this story. Now liers will be coming out of the woodwork after Logan has a one night stand with 'Julia Child' aka Reese Stephens. Her parents are professional liers and cheats or con people so she knows who to pull a con and when she needs to deal with life's hard knocks., but Logan Willamette her question everything she ever knows.

I really enjoyed this story. I have not read the other two so I may go back and do that. I found this to be a sweet, funny, romantic story of two characters who were very well developed. There were bits of the plot that seemed to be too much and it weighed the story down. All in all though I loved it and would recommend this to anyone.
