A female coming-of-age story written as a journey, set paralleled to the protagonist’s medieval ancestor’s story of survival and spiritual nourishment. It is a clearly cast feminist novel from the beginning in that it pits men and women against each other a little too obviously. However, it is a beautifully created work with a very happy and satisfying ending.
