Arrogant Neighbor

Rate this book

The first night in my new apartment, I wanted to kill him. The laughter in the halls, the banging against the walls, the sound of that girl screaming in ecstasy. It was so loud that I had to call our building manager about him twice.
My new neighbor was a rude, arrogant asshole.

I can't blame the girl though. His dazzling blue eyes, that body, those tattoos. I had never met a guy quite like him.

But then he keyed my car, and I needed to get the police involved. That was the beginning of our heated feud.

Little did I know, things were about to get a lot more heated. The cocky bastard was holding onto a lot of big secrets, one of them being that he was an ex-Navy Seal. And when the Navy Seal came to the rescue, I ended up rescuing him from himself in the process.

This is a full standalone novel with a happily ever after ending. No cheating!

For those that are hardcore anti-OW, let me save you some time and preface this review by saying that THE ENTIRETY of chapter one is devoted to the MMC feeling up one chick before dismissively twirling her ass off into a crowd so he can finger another random chick who's hotter.

He spends the rest of the chapter screwing her in detail. AN ENTIRE CHAPTER, I say. Did I mention that after he bangs her a couple hours, she's STILL so drunk that she can't remember where she lives? Not a good start, dude. But I'm going to give you a minute because you're a Navy SEAL and haven't met the FMC yet.

So It Begins: The First Thing I Notice Is That The Writing Voice Is Awkward and WTF

"I love the shy ones."

This "shy girl" is being fingered in public after eight minutes of knowing a guy and then goes straight in for an unprovoked BJ on the truck ride to his house to screw. Shy? Really?

description

Ehh, 10 pages or so later...

"I loved an eager girl."

Ah, shy and eager.

She cried out, and I smiled. I knew she'd be a screamer.

Hum, shy, eager, and a screamer....

description

"..a hot girl dressed in little more than a t-shirt and jeans.."

What more is she supposed to be wearing? A parka?

"But the condoms were in the bathroom, and it hadn't crossed my mind to put one on my pocket... "

Did he forget his condom keychain, or is this a typo?

Between the weirdness and the entire first chapter being devoted to OW, I am not impressed.

Chapter Two We Meet The FMC

Again, not impressed.

First night in her apartment. She hears giggling in the hall. So she bangs on the wall. She's hears giggling inside MMC's apartment. So she bangs on the wall again. She hears a headboard banging and moans and calls the building manager .. twice in the wee hours. Then, she muses that she hopes she hasn't made an enemy out of either.

description

From just one night of hearing his sexcapades, she determines...

"He'a quite popular with the ladies."

Hun, you've heard him with one woman that could be his GF for all you know. Presumptive much?

Chapter Three

Back to whatshisname. He meets the FMC and guess what his first thought is...

"I love shy girls."

description

It's okay though because he has several convos with himself and deducts based on talking to her five minutes and peeping on her end a date with a kiss to the cheek that she's a stuck up bitch. A hot one that he thinks about all the time, but still, a stuck up bitch.

description

Awe:)

Cue night two of him fucking yet another random chick and her again going tattle tale because she hears moaning.

*eye roll*

I DONT fucking Like YOU. Period.

Screwing sloppy drunk chicks aside, I don't like this asshole.

He pushes the first random chick's head so hard into the wall that it stuns her after she sexually nibbles at his neck too hard.

He manhandles the FMC because she put her finger on his chest in an accusing nature. So he uses his size to back her into a wall. Not okay, even if this bitch is SAF.

He says,

"a part of me wanted to slam into her and laugh as she fell down the stairs.

But then as a dude is trying to rape her..

"It didn't matter who the girl was. No one deserved that type of rough treatment.

description

Uhm, are you the same dude that legit considered knocking her down the motherfucking stairs just days ago?

AND I Really Don't Like Her. Period.

She accuses him of keying her car and even sends the police to him when she has zero proof and very little reason to even suspect him.

She makes all these harsh judgments about people whom she doesn't even KNOW or has said three sentences to. This right here pretty much guarantees that I'll never like her...

"I'd bet my last dime that most of the girls he brought home every night were waitresses and bartenders, the kind of people who couldn't be bothered to get an education and make something of themselves. People like him couldn't care less about the future. They made the money they needed to pay for a weekend if partying, only looking ahead to the next party. He probably didn't even know what a Roth IRA was or why he might need one. It was people like him who ended up on the streets at fifty because he had no education and no means to support himself. "

She's said a handful of sentences to him and never even seen "the women he brings home."

Moments later, the MMC is rehashing some long-lost love that went kaput after her brother and his fellow soldier was killed.

The Almost Rape

It just wouldn't be a truly shitty book without an almost date rape the the MMC saves her from, right?

The bad part is the convo afterwards.

She judges and nags him about the women he sleeps with, making him out to be the big bad wolf because she has heard him have casual sex TWICE since she moved in. She pushes and pushes until he gets mad and says that he should've just let the dude rape her. He tries to leave and she stops by teasing him with jaw brushes, touching his lips, kissing his chin, etc.

^ Wtf is wrong with this chick? Almost raped. Slut shames the dude. And then SHE is acting like a slut in heat.

Anyway, he then says to the chick who's shamed & judged him and women she doesn't even know this..

"That was just sex, Sloane. A girl like you is better than that."

She wants him to prove he isn't a the dirtbag she says he is by doing what?

Three guesses
.
...
......

Fuck her.

I. Shit. You. Not.

This bitch don't need a Navy SEAL. She needs a damn psychiatrist.

Bottom Line

I love a neighbor hate turned love story, and I have a weakness for Navy SEALS. But this is bullshit.

•Too much OW.
•Not a single likable character point.
•Odd and nonsensical POV voices.
•Judgmental characters
•Inner POV judgments and emo that are far far far to grand and of importance considering the limited screen time between MCs by 28%.

DNF @32%.

Re-read and liked even more a second time!

Sloan and Major. Sloan is Major's new neighbour and doesn't appreciate all the moaning and banging all night. Gotta say, normally this would put me off but I still liked Major's character. It was obviously meaningless and didn't make Major's character more sexy or give us any greater insight into his personality. It serves to set the stage that Sloan and he get off on the wrong foot and could have been done with less detail. But like I said, once you get past this chapter, the unfolding of his character is well done. Sloan is less intriguing, being only 20 and just finished school. She's your quintessential young girl freshly out on her own in the world. Their animosity escalates a bit (almost out of their control) until major saves her from a date gone VERY wrong. There are more misunderstandings but they made sense, and slowly they get to know each other. As their relationship becomes more serious, Major knows that he will have to open up about his past to her. Meanwhile, Sloan realizes she has something to tell him too. My one complaint (well other than the first chapter) is that the big reveal was wrapped up a bit quick. It was quite romantic though, and there's a nice little epilogue. I wonder if Major's friend Jack will get his story??

Up until the end, I loved this book. The part where Sloan was almost raped and immediately had sex with Major was unbelievable. Man, when something like that happens, the last thing you want to do in that same hour is have sex with someone you have no emotional connection. And she had no sequels. None. No PTSD, no fear, no recalling that moment, nothing.
I'm sorry, but that is just so far fetched I had to mention it.

Then, the book took a turn for the good; there was drama, misunderstandings, secrets, the works. I was expecting them to get married, to Sloan to get scared because Major was taking the reins of the family company and could become like her father, to watch Sloan's parent's marriage falling apart, Sloan deciding what to do with her father.

There were may wholes in that ending. It's like the author suddenly is about to reach a max number of word so she has to cut the story short. Please.

In short, the book has its ups and downs. But the ending, the part I consider the most important, was a disappointment.

Sloan moves into a new apartment just to find out that her neighbor is very loud at night… than begin to argue about little things. He comes to her rescue one night and from that point they can’t deny how they feel about it each other. Great enemies to lovers book.

Sloan ~ she is so sweet and innocent. She is a strong person because of what she deals with through this book from this attack, family and friends issues.

Major ~ he has a hard shell but once you get past that he is truly a amazing guy.

Narrator is Shoshana Franck and she did an amazing job. Some times when they only have one narrator I have a hard time telling the difference between the characters but she does a great job of changing her voice just a little to make it clear who was talking at that point.

Great read

She was beyond naive and apparently sheltered until she moved out. He was the bad boy next door neighbor. The two together couldn't be more different, but worked so well.

Didn't hate it, didn't love it. Kinda like reading a high school bully romance, with adults, and not a good one.

Sloan and Major.
Sloan is a woman who just graduated collage and moved into her own apartment because she was tired of being smothered, she wanted out of her mothers house she wanted her own rules. But what she doesnt expect was a whole bunch of drama in the first two days. From her car, to her noisy neighbor, to a guy she's been dating for a little under the first week. Things are hective. And well things are different then what she expected. She doesn't expect so much drama when she moved out of her mommas house.
Major, hes a retired Navy Seal, got discharged 5 years ago and is now living in a run down beautiful Victorian style house that is an apartment that houses 3 attendants. He's a freelance Architect and well he's doing great with his life, the only thing is that he is a full time partier when he's not working. He brings girls home and then takes them home the same night.
Well one night, Sloans first night in the apartments, He does the same thing, brings the girl home then takes her home, and someone complains about all the noise. Yup Sloan calls, and well Major had no clue he was getting another neighbor. They meet and they are literally not the best of friends. but things are there they can't ignore just won't voice.
So with the review :)
Like i said this book is beautifully written, I have always loved Kira Wards books! And i believe this one is her best one yet. It took me about 4 hours to read this book, so yes its a very fast read, it sucks you in from the beginning and your their from the beinning to the end!
So would i reread this book!? Absolutely. i loved Sloan and Majors story.
Do i recommend this book?! YES!! I believe that if you love a good romance story where the main characters hate/try to ignore each other then yes i believe this book is for you!
I received a copy of this book for my honest review!

Scorching sex and characters with real feelings--good and bad

He's a bad-boy sex god with a high alcohol tolerance, a long line of satisfied ladies and a surly attitude toward his new neighbor, Sloane. The book starts off with a bang (right up against his bedroom wall) and doesn’t let up. The sex is sizzling hot, especially with Major’s POV. I love reading his thoughts-in and out of bed.

He’s got some baggage and doesn’t think he deserves love. He sticks to one night stands and uncomplicated women—until Sloane.

The two start off on the wrong foot with Sloane accusing Major of keying her car. Now, he REALLY doesn’t like her. In a nice reversal, the guy is the one who gets Magic (Genital) Syndrome (I can’t write it, but you know what I mean). Everything isn’t perfect in the beginning, but Major is hooked.

It feels like it's missing a few scenes in the middle. The lead up to their relationship and their Happy Ever After are solid but they need a little more about their relationship and getting to know each other. Regardless, it’s a good book that’ll crank up your temperature.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Annoying neighbours can be a pain, but to have one that looks like him, Major, how far would you put up with him. Sloan, newly moved into her apartment, finds out that her next door neighbour is different than she imagined. Annoyingly hot, all the noise, all the girls and all the loud music. What to do. Report him and that she does.
Major thinks his new neighbour is cute and sexy looking at first, until she reports him for all the noise, then for allegedly keying her car!!! Little madam.
Things change dramatically one day after Sloan is attacked by a new boyfriend. Major comes to her rescue. Can they see things differently now.
They both have family secrets, can they trust one another.
A very enjoyable sexy hot read. How can I have not read more of Kiras books!!! Need to sort that out now. Loved it.

I read this in one sitting. I really didn't believe my kindle when it told me it would only take two and half hour. But at last, it was right. Part of that was also because it ending at 70%.

Sadly, this book just wasn't for me. The main characters were too stereotypical and the story really didn't go anywhere. I would go more in depth but I really can't recall a whole lot now. I will say I like the drama between Sloane and her dad. Yet it didn't really do a whole lot for the plot. It was mostly used to showcase her fears in her current relationship. It was just a little cliche.

Not the worst thing I have read. At least I was able to finish it.

Things are not what they appear

Major is a former Navy SEAL and he's dealing with things that are just a part of life. Sloane just graduated college, got her first fob doing what she loves, and just moved into her first apartment. The two don't necessarily hit it off at first but eventually they start seeing each other. Sloane doesn't want to follow in her Mom's life mistakes and Major is keeping secrets. Will these two learn to trust each other and let their pasts go? Read this wonderful stand alone to find out! Received an ARC for an honest review.

WOW!!! Kira Ward has done it again. Arrogant Neighbor A Navy Seal Romance grabs your attention from the very beginning. I received my copy as an ARC to give a honest review of this book.
Sloane & Major are a great pair. From Sloane calling the building supervisor on her neighbor, Major to accuse him of keying her car. Major coming to Sloane's rescue from her boyfriend's attack. From the very beginning they had a lust/hate relationship going on. You will not be disappointed on reading Arrogant Neighbor. Thank You Kira Ward for another great book.

Loved it!

Nothing like a hot Navy Seal! He's not really a player. He's just trying to take a month off and think about some life decisions he has to make. Then he meets his neighbor, Sloane, gorgeous, feisty but a thorn in his side.

Can Major and Sloan get past the initial lust/hate they have for each other? Can Sloane get past Majors hidden secrets that come to light?

Read it, you won't be disappointed. Me. Ward knows how to write romance, hot romance.

At first, I was really enjoying this book. It was hot and passionate and full of turmoil and heartache, but then the novel went on super speed. I like a book that slowly reveals itself and then leads me slowly to the end, but here BAM it was over. It was over at 70% One minute she is angry with dad and boom the next the end. So, I give it a three because it had a lot of potential and could be great with a little more development.

Very good

This book was very good. That's as basic as I can put it. The H was broken as was the h. They fit together perfectly to make each other whole again. It started out as a interested/ annoyed thing, then an interested/ hate thing, then a hate/hate thing. Except it was never a hate thing. They fell in love in just over a month after a concession was made one night. After that it was a slippery slope right down to the HEA. Recommended.

After reading some scathing reviews of this book and some positive ones I just decided to make up my own mind. The writing wasn't the most sophisticated but the story was decent enough and I liked the characters and how their relationship developed. The story finishes at 70% so it was a quicker read than I was expecting and there were some grammatical errors and mistakes scattered throughout the book. Overall it was enjoyable and it seems it's a love or hate book so make your own mind up.

I was pleasantly surprised by Kira Ward's style of writing. This book was well written. Not erotica but well loving scenes. Major was a Navy SEAL who's dealt with enough war, now he works when he wants to. Sloane just moved into the next door apartment. And the walls are paper thin. When things start to happen to her she blames him. The tension between them spark. But they both have secrets that could cost someone's chance at love. Will look forward to reading more by this author.

I loved this book, it had you hocked from the start. The chemistry between Sloan and Major. Major the noisy neighbor with his noisy guest, when they meet they find each other sexy as. Sloan loves Major's muscles and hot tattoo, she thinks he has keyed her car, but when Sloan's attacked Major surprises Sloan by coming to her rescue, he helps her and then there friendship takes a new turn n the rest as they say is history. This book is a hot sexy book with a brilliant HEA xx

DNF @ 60%

It was kind of boring. And the add "A Navy SEAL Romance" is a joke. Sure he is a former military guy but not a Navy SEAL. Did the author know what a SEAL does? I don't think so.

Update
Finished it because it was only 10% more and the Story ends. I thought before it was boring but OMG it was really bad and boring. Such a unoriginal ending and way to fast.

Unfinished

This book just ends at 69%. How was this even published? There was an odd overly long recap of the story so far at about 38%, and now its just over! What! The story is a good story, could have been a great book, if it had been written. Wt* Don't bother yourself with this. You will be greatly disappointed.

3 stars. Quick enjoyable read. Major was a total meanwhile at the beginning of the book. He and Sloane certainly didn't have the best of starts but it turned into a sweet story with Major saving Sloane when a date becomes a dangerous situation. By the end of the book I was really rooting for this couple to have their HEA

Arrogant Neighbor is a great story. There is nothing like thin walls to really help you know your neighbors. For better or for worse, this slighly damaged couple is working past their own insecurities to make this relationship work. I really enjoyed this story, and highly recommend it.

Good book shame about the ending

I really enjoyed this book, loved the story and the characters . the only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because I found the ending to be very rushed, and this spoilt it for me.
