Monty lives in a pond with his family and friends. He loves to hop, leap, and jump. Everyone calls him Leapfrog. One day, Monty takes a long leap and lands on the road, and into trouble. Super-Duper Monty is a delightful book for kids. The story and the bright, colorful pictures will engage their attention, while gently giving valuable lessons about how they should treat other creatures, and the importance of natural habitat. The text is on the same page as the illustration, making it easy to read, and more enjoyable for kids.

I read this book to a group of young children. The 2yo loved the bright, vibrant illustrations and pictures of Monty hopping and catching flies. The 3 and 4 year olds understood the storyline more and liked the ending. I was immediately asked for two re-reads, so that's always a good sign.
With my thanks to the author for my copy to read and review.
Super-Duper Monty by Gita V. Reddy Book starts out offering a free gift, puzzle, coloring, etc Colorful children's story about a frog who lives in a green mossy pond with his family. He leaps around a lot and they called him leapfrog. He leaps so far one day and jumps out of the pond and starts wandering around. A frog needs to be kept wet near the pond at all times. He falls asleep and wakes when some boys are putting him in a box which they take to school very far away. What happens next is scary but the teacher helps. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end. I received this review copy from the author via Goodreads and this is my honest review
My children love to explore nature. They love to find critters in their natural environments and explore how they live. One of their favourite places to explore are the tidal pools at the beach. They are usually teaming with life and we spend a lot of time exploring each animals habitat.
“Super-Duper Monty” is the tells the tale of Monty an adorable little green frog who lives in the pond with his family and friends. Monty loves nothing more than to hop, leap and jump, so much that everyone calls Leapfrog. What happens when Monty jumps a little to far and into trouble?
“Super-Duper Monty” by Gita V. Reddy is a story about compassion and the importance of a natural habitat for animals. It also has an underlying message about being aware of your surroundings, even when you are having fun!
When Monty is having fun, leaving here and there, he is only focused on one thing…having fun. He isn’t paying attention to the world around him and soon finds himself lost and in trouble. This is an important lesson for our children to learn about paying attention to the things around them even as they are playing. I try to teach my children to be aware of dangers around them when they are playing.
When my daughter was in kindergarten she learned about the life cycle of a frog, so she was excited to share her knowledge with her brother. Then with the help of the story of “Super-Duper Monty” we learned what type of environment a frog needs to survive. We live near some wet areas so from time to time little frogs will work their way up to the property. The kids often want to “save” them and keep them as pets. I have tried to explain to them that we aren’t equipped to properly take care of them. Now they understand that a frog needs to live in nature and not a house.
“Super-Duper Monty” also teaches us about compassion for others. When the boys find Monty and put him in a box, they don’t take the time to learn about what Monty needs to survive. When they discover that their actions have caused Monty harm, they do what they can to return him to his natural habitat.
The illustrations are wonderful, bright and full colour. As we read this on our kindle app, my children loved how the text was on the same page as each image.
*Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of “Super-Duper Monty” in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.
Did you ever have that niggling feeling that you had forgotten something? I kept forgetting that I had read this book recently and hadn't written a review. If I hadn't been given the book for that very reason, I wouldn't have felt so badly when I did remember. Sorry it took me so long, Gita.
AND my memory of the book was gone. Part of it is my fibro fog is in full flare. Though I could remember that the book was cute, I know that Ms. Reddy tries to get a few lessons in there for the reader. I wanted to make sure I got it so I went back and read it again. It only took a few minutes. It was worth the re-read. Which proved to me that a child will want to return to this book often.
First, the illustrations are absolutely adorable! Abira Das (Illustrator) did a fantastic job! Second, the lessons were there. Here is a frog who is too happy-go-lucky for his own good. A lesson I tried to teach my own children was that if they wanted to wander beyond our yard they needed to have a sibling or two with them for the safety in numbers. So this educational moment would start a lot of conversations between parents and children. Or even students and teachers.
Then one could study amphibians, frogs in particular. Heck, one could even adopt a pet frog for a while learn about their growth, food, and other needs. And then make sure the children understand how important the proper environment and care is for any animal.
Last, it is a great early reader, one a parent could read aloud but the child could grow to read it independently all the while enjoying the fun pictures.
Super-Duper Monty by Gita V. Reddy Super-Duper Monty by Gita V. Reddy with illustrations by Abira Das is a charming children's book about Super-Duper Monty who is also called Leap Frog.
He lived in a pond but jumped around so much he ended up on a grand adventure. It is written for ages three to seven. It teaches some good lessons along with being a fun book to read.
The illustrations are brightly colored, well drawn & easy on the eyes. I gave this book five stars because my favorite little boy wanted me to read it again & again.
We received this book to give an honest review. A really enjoyed this book I think because the pictures were so bright and captured her attention. Monty is a cute little frog who one day finds himself far from his pond. When he is captured by a group of boys they learn that maybe they shouldn't keep him but let him go. They learn that you should treat animals with kindness. Overall a very cute story. A was sad when she saw Monty was captured and I had to explain that we have to continue the story too see what happens next. Which as we continued she started to understand and was feeling happy.
A cute book to say the least! Lesson to be learn while the little ones read or read to. This author has many books out for children as well as adult and they have been fantastic and this one was no less as good as the rest she has written!
I was given a copy of this book in exchanged for an honest review. Monty is a little frog who goes on an adventure almost by mistake. The book is very colorful and the story extensive. The tale of how he leaves his home and finds his way back has also some tension and surprises. I can see how I would use this book with my kindergarten students, but also with elementary students. This book can be read on many different levels, inviting the students to explore it from several angles. I would prefer to see more design on the art such as the text being a part of the illustration and not just sentences under it without emotion or expression.
The author provided this book for me to read in agreement for my honest review.
Monty is a frog that lives with his friends and family in a pond. Everyone calls him Leapfrog because he likes to leap everywhere. One day he takes a big leap and lands on a road (a highway). Read what happens to him as he finds his way back home.
This is a book that encourages children to look around and see the natural world and how to treat animals that live there.
As a parent of adult offspring, grandparent, and step-greatgrand, I fully understand the essential importance of teaching children safety. In their innocence, children don't know how to stay safe or why running off could be dangerous. I wish no child would ever have to learn. I appreciate the author's intent to illuminate for children the importance of remaining close to home and family. However I found this book too edgy and am concerned that instead it would scare young children. I found it unsettling myself.
Cute story of Monty the frog. He learns some things that are important. Monty figures out some lessons that will keep him safe. The pictures are fun, especially when he catches flies. That picture is the best.
I received a free ecopy of this book from the author for an honest review.
What a cute book! Monty is a frog who lives in a pond with his friends and family. He's so active that everyone calls him Leapfrog. One day he jumps too far away from the pond and ends up going on an unexpected adventure. Will Monty ever go back to the pond? Is he going to survive this adventure?
I've read several of Gita Reddy's children's books and not only are they cute, but most of them teach a lesson as well. The lesson from this book is to be happy with where you are now. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.
I definitely recommend Super Duper Monty for young children. It's a fun story with cute illustrations.
What a cute story! The pictures are bright and colorful, with just a few sentences on each page.
Monty goes on what he thinks is a grand adventure, far away from the pond where he lives. He was so far from water that he began to get sick. He eventually finds water and revives himself, but then other things happen to him that put him in danger.
Will Monty ever make it back home,or will his adventure have a tragic ending?
A good story to teach children not to wander away, as well as teaching them "there's no place like home."

I normally read adult books since my children are grown. This author has written other adult things, but I've read a couple of her children's books anyway. I have to say this is a cute story. A lesson for children about the wildlife they come across outdoors. Monty, a frog, has lost his way. Can he find his way back home? The illustrations are beautiful. I enjoyed this children's book and I think any young child would as well.
This book was a very cute story, this story is about one frogs adventure. I loved the illustrations, and how exciting the storyline was. I would definitely recommend this book to whom ever want to read a cute story. This is also a great bedtime story for young children. THIS BOOK IS AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER FOR 99 CENTS
